    Scorpion 'Interceptor' RC Build

Thanks much for the regen info. I'm kinda burned out on builds (2 trikes and 2 mtn bikes in the last 6 months - too many many hours), but if there is a next time I'll seriously consider such. Might make it over to Slovenia next summer, be fun to see some trikes in Germany on the way back. The...

    Scorpion 'Interceptor' RC Build

Hi ecross, I like your rig too. Nice saddle packs, I had to look for the motor. May I ask why 'top secret' is a goal? Are there rules over there against e-trikes or something? Also, do you have regen? It's one thing I miss, with all the 1000m hills right around our house. I use the disc...

    Scorpion 'Interceptor' RC Build

Probably coincidence, but I'm amazed at how many people come around to look wherever we park these things. They like the trikes, but almost universally, when they see the drives (expecially with the covers off), it's "OMG can you make me one". I've dropped your name more than a few times...

    Plastic-Pulley Mountain Bikes

Thanks! The controllers do have the CC CapPacks on them, and the ESC-battery leads are quite short. Had I known about your referenced units I would have used them (cheaper and more voltage margin). Next time :-)

    Scorpion 'Interceptor' RC Build

Thank you! I can add a little more info. I built the four 12S2p trike batteries shown, and two smaller (12S, 8ah) units for the two mountain bikes described in http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=41875 out of 25C Turnigy nanotech 6S 8Ah hobbyking units. I cycled each of...

    Plastic-Pulley Mountain Bikes

To be accurate, can upshift one rear cog at a time on level or slight upslope. I wouldn't want to drop down several cogs at once, or try it on a steep hill (but who upshifts going up a steep hill ;-) ). Downshifting to a lower gear is generally not a problem. John

    Plastic-Pulley Mountain Bikes

I had a lot of parts left over from prelim (discarded) designs and from modifying stuff when adding mid-drive motors to our two Scorpion trikes described in http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=41858 Like cheap timing belt pulleys, ½ inch shafts and bearings, freewheels, some...

    Scorpion 'Interceptor' RC Build

Hi Folks, I thought some of you might be interested in pictures of my RC-middrive build for the HP Velo Scorpion FS recumbent trike. My wife said three things when I told her I wanted to put electric motors on our trikes (obtained as stable comfy more old-age-appropriate ride-replacements...

Ride the Rockies, Stories from an electric cyclist...

Very nice ride, Josh! Congrats. I was gunna sign up for it, but got worried about having to ride in serious rainstorm(s), as has happened in some years (not this one, in a way unfortunately because it sure would help with the awful fires). How is your bike set up for rain? A worry? Mine...

Beta CA build for R/C controllers

Answered my own question, "Is there a CA setup way to expand the throttle input action range to like 3Volts (.9 to 3.9, say)?" Didn't notice the full throttle range is essentially zero to Imax. I had Imax (50A) way too high for my trainer, even in 9'th gear, where it takes about 25A to go...

Beta CA build for R/C controllers

Kepler, I wonder if the firmware upgrade fixes the problem I have with version B3. Just before I hit max rpm (about 90-98% of it), the motor/wholesystem surges in an oscillatory manner with a period of about 3 Hz (kinda shakes). Just at that throttle position (and any gearing, so doesn't...

Beta CA build for R/C controllers

Kepler, How did you interface the pickit3 to the CA board? I don't see any header pins on the CA. Did you have to solder pins to it? Closeup picture perhaps? Nice quick work, and Thanks much, H3D

    Lipo Storage Temperatures

I would like to store my lipos in a concrete hardboard (fireproof, hopefully) box in an unheated outside toolshed a good distance from my house. Temperature range out there is 60F to -10F depending on the weather. I suppose I could put a small electric heater in the box to mediate the low end...
