thank you. That was very helpful. I will have to talk to someone about this because this seems a little beyond my level of comfort. I don't want to F*** it up on my first try. Thanks again
Miro,
please excuse my ignorance. "Jumpers" - being cables linked from the groups of 5 to the battery control unit? Are these cables plug and play or also must be welded?
Why do you think it is a complete workaround? I simply cannot cannot convert to lithium with my limited experience, and I...
Miro -
I'm having some issues with my E+. 1) My charger is taking multiple cycles to recharge the E+ front hub. 2) Occasionally, I will have a full battery collapse from 1-2 bars left to a blinking 0 bar. Otherwise, range and speed is still good, but I suspect I have dead cells in the front...
Miro! Fantastic setup. Congrats. Really impressive.
Now if only you could develop a simple workaround one step solution for E+ users. Im sure it would sell like hotcakes!
If only I had that skill for such a project!
BVH:
From E+ directly, they said that there were a "number" - unspecified - of cases where the battery malfunctioned. I believe the fire case was the only one -- but someone else writing about the E+ has said that it happened to them as well. i think its the kind of thing where you may not...
Can I use this pack ? http://www.a123systems.com/prismatic-cell-amp20.htm
I just meant lithium -- isnt that what you are using? I had no specific to which battery -- i am just trying to figure out what I would need ot buy to make all of this happen.
Ok so basically a pack like this would do the trick: http://whiteproducts.com/sealed480.shtml
The crimp tool -- do you mean the one they sell for $30 -- approx - I think thats reasonable.
So - is there a build process involved with the battery as well or does it come ready to plug into the...
Ok so one, I've been looking online. Does anyone have a specific name for the kind of Delphi connectors E+ uses? These should be available somewhere --
So then build a battery, wire the battery wires into the Delphi battery and cross your fingers? I just somehow am having trouble believing it...
Mr. Davies -- did you make this battery yourself or did you buy it? Did you get the Delphi connectors in order to mount it?
(I am behind all the technical talk with Voltages etc -- still trying ot learn) -- but I am trying to figure out just how hard /easy all of this is to do if I get an aux...
Miro if I lived closer I would gladly volunteer my bike for your experiment!
I see why you would only want an aux battery -- it would def. let you ride super light and fast! Probably one of the fastest production ebikes out there with just a LIPO and the 1000W engine. (Outside of the crazy 10K...
I believe it is a shut-down timer -- just as when I leave my bike on the street just standing there. I have not yet timed it but it seems right around the 10 minute mark that the computer shuts itself down. I am guessing that without the NIMH it must just think it is idle like you siad.
ebikes...
Miro - it was my understanding that with the original E+ Aux battery packs you could ride on that pack alone without the NIMH front hub-- am I wrong?
If that was the case then there should be a solution to avoiding the front hub all together no?
Miro - yes that he does. It is unfortunate that all the prices have doubled :(
Miro -- go back to the TF forum and look at Bill Von's work. He has also added an aux LIPO battery to an E+--- but he does use both together with the front hub. I just checked myself..
Is your front hub done with ...
Miro -- that is some great work. It gives the rest of the E+ owners hope that our bikes wont slowly die with the NiMh front hub. I'm glad your getting some support from Rick!
Keep up the great work -- if you come up with a feasible solution, you should start selling the "NEW and IMPROVED" E+...
That sounds about right -- it is 500W right??
I set my E+ 7502.0 on power 4(from 9) tonight - that limits the wattage to about 550-700 (which is right about what the prodeco is probably getting) -- and i hit 24mph with little to no wind so that sounds about right. I can usually get right about...
