    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I only use throttle with this setup. The CA is there as a the display for all the things, it has nothing to do with the settings in the controller. I use pass-thru as throttle setting in CA, so throttle curve is set on the controller. Motor rpm is going to be higher (@22s so a higher voltage...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I'm using a VESC 100V 250A (trampaboards) controller together with a Cycle Analyst. No too worried about overheating, my sessions are rarely longer than 600wh of energy consumed and mostly offroad (no super long stretches of constant full throttle, that could maybe overheat it at some point)...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I'm running the gen 1 thing on 22s (~91v) and 6kw and the only thing that complains seems to be the one way bearing in the unit that nowadays slips some times at max torque. These torque peaks are generally very short so this doesn't interfere much if any. Also its likely that my bearing is a...

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I would have begged you to help me out if it wasn't for the fact that I've already found something better. But you're right; it will just keep breaking even if I probably could get a few hours more time out of it. The Tangent kit was my way into ebiking and I've had a lot of fun on these kits...

Rewind a cyclone 3kw motor for more power ?

Same with KTM, they use something like 80s in their Freeride https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92260 I think the biggest reason is price, high amp stuff is more expensive and probably heavier in all. Also wires don't need to be as thick and heavy.

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I think I’ve run and broke all recent revisions of this concept. My last one was indeed the aluminum geared one with the alternate motor (can’t remember the name but it wasn’t Astro) fused into the shell. It was comparable to the 3220. The output part that connects the freewheel thing is...

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Yeah? Dave's actually responding again? I'd love to get my dead late gen Tangent back and running. Just an expensive paperweight right now. The freewheel's whats always messed up my units, they break and cannot be replaced, since they tend to cold weld to the output screw. In my final breakdown...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I actually just switched over to a Trampaboards 100v250a ESC for this and reconfigured my battery for 90v. Big grin from ear to ear. Thing is that you really just must run this motor with the sensors hooked up, it does not behave well without. Actually runs terrible as far as I had the patience...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Oh, no that's not needed really. It was something Dave did with the Tangent kit and I think it makes it possible to detect and handle a disconnected throttle connector better.

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Yeah I know all about those things, probably will cover the circuit board with silicone conformal coating (have some already) but the thing appears glued to the bottom aluminium piece. Probably need to apply some heat and careful bending there. What complicates it a bit further is the large...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I thought I'd share the latest changes to my CYC X1 (gen 1) setup, since I finally have it running and behaving the way I like. I desperately needed something to replace my decommissioned 6kW Tangent setup and I'm very happy that I think I found it! Setup: Bike: Giant Glory 2011 Domino throttle...

I have to agree, they are a level above everyone else especially from China. A level of service that is not that far from Tangent-Dave actually.

Chances are good but prepare for some soldering. Just use the shunt and the wiring from the fried one. I’ve done that operation a few times. New HV80s are very very sensitive to water.

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I got around to opening the motor and can't see any traces of cracks or damage to the rotor at all, so its probably not that. I can't figure this out - I can spin it nicely and evenly up to max rpm from 0 with no or even pretty ok load (2kw), but when I put too much on it, it fails. Guess I'll...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Damn that's the best news I've had for a while, thanks! Gonna pick it apart and have a look. Never thought about opening the motor itself when I had it open a few days ago
