Bafang BPM Dirty Greasy Rusty Motor

Thanks t3sla. FT still checks his PM's! He suggested I check the hall sensors but they all look good (multimeter check). Last night I opened the hub to find a hub gear with a missing tooth, plus a few cracks here and there on the others. I replaced the clutch and gear set about 6000km 4000km...

Bafang BPM Dirty Greasy Rusty Motor

Thanks for you help d8veh, but there is definitely no bearing there on mine. My BPM supports the RHS axle with a 6002RS mounted in the cover plate. So it looks like Scottyf and I have different design BPM motors!

Bafang BPM Dirty Greasy Rusty Motor

I was thinking of buying the bearings kindly listed by jateureka, but then I check some pics I had of the internals of my BPM motor (taken in May 2014 when I disassembled to replace a cracked planetary gear) and it appears to differ majorly to the jateureka's and scottyf's motor internals posted...

Bafang BPM Dirty Greasy Rusty Motor

Sorry somehow I totally missed this post - Yep sure did get it up and running - the BPM 500 Code 10, 12S LiPo, 700x38c hybrid frame bike was up and running on 13th June 2013 and it has been my daily commute every since!! I clocked up 10,000 km on it 1 year and 1 day later! The novelty of riding...

    Hyperion EOS 1420i NET3 14s Balance Charger...

Ok so the cracked IRFB4110 and the IRF4905 were as expected internally shorted between all 3 pins. Also found two fried resistors R39 & R54 - see pic. They looks be 10ohm so probably the gate drive resistors? One is open and one is short circuited. The shopping list is growing. So do I try the...

    Hyperion EOS 1420i NET3 14s Balance Charger...

I'll remove them all from the board to test them and report back. I believe the broken MOSFET is a IRF 4905.

    Hyperion EOS 1420i NET3 14s Balance Charger...

Yes!! I think with the number of these that seem to be failing that it would be an excellent idea to make this thread a resource on how to repair what really is an excellent charger when they are working! I have three 1420s. The first has blown what looks like multiple FETs and no longer...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

I'm not an electrician so am happy to be corrected on the right procedure here, disconnected from mains I just used a multi-meter to check for any continuity between the DC output terminals and: L, N, Earth, and Case (No harm in checking them all) No continuity on any of the above means the DC...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

Hillhater, Good information on the new 0-24V version. Is 27.5V max enough for your application? Haha are you game to try? I'm interested to hear if it's current limiting works as nicely as the 24V versions and what actual Amps is limits at. The 24V 360V versions get rather hot on the...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

Static Output voltage can be adjusted from 20.16 Vmin to 30.80 Vmax

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

I can confirm they definitely adjust up to 28.5V as this is the voltage they are currently set at to give the Hyperion it's max output power capability. When I'm back at work (unfortunately off sick today) I will check for sure, but for memory the range was around 20-30V. I haven't seen this...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

UPDATE: Currently using two of these 24V 360W $25 supplies connected in parallel to supply a Hyperion 1420i with a supply of 28.5V 700W. Connecting these in Parallel means that the current isn't shared equally. I've adjusted the voltages on each so that when under full load (approx 20A) they...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

UPDATE: It turns out that these cheap supplies have a built in Current Limiting feature. So when using them to direct charge 6S LiPo there is no need to adjust the output voltage up step by step to keep from tripping the supply. You can simply set the output voltage at 25V and regardless of how...

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

Awesome, I'll check that thread out: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=47415 Yes I am very happy with their performance under load. It's always nice to know you have the capability to quickly put 300Wh in to your pack.

Power Supply - Using a cheap LED strip light driver

Thanks everyone for the advice. Here is an update: I decided to hedge my bets and ordered the $27 24V 15A 360W PS from China, but also contacted Heath and bought a pair of modded ex-server PS's in a 25V 1100W configuration. The PS are to power 2x Hyperion 1420i chargers. I have been using the...
