preferred throttle style for indirect steering tadpole ?

I've tried various options for throttles and found to use a left hand half throttle at the left handlebar of my tadpole trikes and velomobile is the most convenient. While the right hand is occupied with shifting, rotating the left hand to power the motor becomes natural quite quickly. When...

Oil cooling a motor with transformer oil/dielectric fluid - the next frontier?

Really? You guys still discussing alternative oil for geared hub motors in 2024? Whats wrong with ATF? I hate the smell of ATF like the next guy (only jet fuel smells worst) but ATF has the right viscosity and got all the necessary additives (foam inhibitors, friction inhibitors, etc, etc) to...

Run two motors on one controller? Maybe?

Short answer: No. No matter what ingenious idea you come up with, it will not work. Get a second motor controller.

is geared hub motor feasible in a 20-inch rim?

If you use "Semi Recumbent", the Motor Simulator computes results much closer to measured real world data with a tadpole trike! ;)

is geared hub motor feasible in a 20-inch rim?

Yes its feasible. The small "250W" geared hub motors don't last long at these speed/power levels (BTDT), but the bigger "500W" geared hub motors can take it (Bafang CST, Grin V2, etc). Especially, if you use some 40-45ml ATF for cooling and lubrication of the internal free wheel clutch. If you...

SURVEY: Your watts at various speeds

The Milan got updated with a MXUS 3005 RC in 26" rim, custom 11-42t 10-speed cassette, 45/72t chain rings, a new 20s/2.3kWh battery made from 21700 5000mAh cells and is shot with reasonably quick Conti Contact Urban*. Real world numbers from the CAv3 at 8°C on open country roads from city to...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

max 5A. That was the max Ampere my 7205 was putting out and IIRC its quite clearly stated in the specs and manual (max 103V, max 5A, max 360W). "7205" should give a slight hint, as well... ;) btw, thanks Amberwolf for clearing things up!

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

I'm using two 48V Satiators (combined with other 36V chargers if needed) in parallel every day for several years, now. It just works. At the end of charge, one Satiator will reach end of charge about 0.1V before the other, though. the two Satiators are bolted together. The rubber O-rings...

SURVEY: Your watts at various speeds

Yeah, I've got a MXUS 3005RC DD hub 'just in case' waiting to get laced-up, but I'm still not entirely sure if it finds its way into the Milan. The new features of the Phaserunner could take care of the motor drag, though. I'll have to see how the Bafang CST will hold-up on my new commute.

Your Creation's Before & After Pics

On open roads without frequent traffic lights, I think its closer to 5.8 or 5.9Wh/km and it currently got a relatively slowish tire at the rear wheel (Big Ben 50-559). I have to do some further testing, but with some light pedaling (75W), 3.3Wh/km @ 40km/h, 4.5Wh/km @ 50km/h and 6Wh/km @ 60km/h...

Your Creation's Before & After Pics

Hehe! Since the view would by slightly restricted... ...and the Spandau's degrade the aero propertys, I think an extendable mini-gun turret in the back would be preferable. It would also cover my six quite nicely. :D
