We just started our build of the EMG-6 Motor Glider. Details can be found at our website: www.e-hawk.org
We are still in the very early stages of the build process and have not spec'd the propulsion system as of yet. If anyone has any recommendation for an appropriately sized motor (10kW to...
Great project--can't wait to see it flying. What's the kV of that motor and what is the gear reduction? What size prop are you planning on spinning?
I am going to be embarking on a similar project with high school students. Starting in September we will be fabricating the EMG-6...

Hey, looks kinda like mine https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=85489 without the screws. Are you going to cut a section out of the frame and weld it in? Did you cut the panels with a water jet? Nice.
More progress. I added a bracket for the motor controller and the circuit breaker. Also installed a precharge switch and controller enable switch. Current shunt is also installed via a 3D printed holder.
I bought this one back in October and it is legit.

It's 6061 aluminum, 5mm top plate, 3mm all other plates. Fasteners are M3.
It does look like the tire will hit under compression yet bouncing up and down on the handlebars with all of my weight I can't get it to touch. I think I'm compressing it close to full travel. If the pack does end up...
I am in the process of doing something similar (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=85489 ). Here's some advice based on my experience so far:
The nickel strip you have linked in not pure nickel but rather nickel plated steel. It will rust sooner than later. Here is the one...
I designed the holders using Onshape, which BTW rocks, (search '18650 battery spacer') and printed in ABS on a Prusa.
All the zip ties survived the initial blast. I later cut them to get the cable away from the cells as soon as possible. I am lucky that short did not cause a fire and/or...
I made a small amount of progress on the pack, just prior to a significant setback. I soldered the end connections to a strip of nickel plate and then spot welded the plate to the terminals of the pack. I was quite pleased with the connections and confident that it would hold up to the...
