MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

I was told all the newer MY1018's had the helical gears and were quieter than the early straight gear models, so I wonder if the noise mine makes is the same as yours? It isn't "crazy" load at all, just noisy enough to clearly know when the motor is on or off. I guess I could open it up and...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

I've been told the TSDZ2 is very noisy compared to a BBS02B, but I've never seen or heard a TSDZ2 myself. I have two BBS02B's and know they don't make noise. Noise is the biggest issue for me when considering an eMTB. I like to ride with friends that don't use electric assist, so the last...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

Great to hear. I kept this motor, ISIS freewheel crank and high-end battery for use on another project at some point. I've even considered a Kick-Bike using the original rear stay mount. Plenty of power with 450W IMHO. After I try to climb off-road without assist now that I've got a few...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

This motor works fine for this type of throttle assist setup. The only complaint is the RC Car type motor noise it makes. My Bafang BBS02B's are virtually noiseless. The 12T x 42T reduction works well. You could go up to about 48T to get a little better sweet spot in the reduction. I don't...

    Quiet Motors

Bafang BBS02-B 750W/48V mid-drives are very quiet. I have two of them. I believe they are one of if not the quietest mid-drive out there. Very adjustable too. IMHO for the money, they are a great choice.

    BBS02B 48v contoller on BBS01B 36v

I'm betting that it will work the other way around too if both are BBS##-B motors. Put a 36V BBS##-B controller on a 48V BBS##-B motor and run a 36V battery (and change the volt setting in the display). The reason I asked is I now have two batteries, one 48V for both of my Bafang rides and one...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

Can you tell me if it has a BMS or not? If so, is it self-balancing? Do you know what the continuous and peak amp output are? Yeah, they were $119OBO, then he raised them to $129OBO. I offered him $100 and he countered, but I told him $100 is my maximum without knowing the battery...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

Thanks. I can't get any detailed information out of the seller, so I'm moving on... I'm going with a light weight 36V/16Ah 576Wh Panasonic 3200mAh cell pack that only weighs in at 6lbs. Almost twice the range, better cells and clearly stated specifications for the BMS and build.

    BBS02B 48v contoller on BBS01B 36v

Don't know for sure, but I don't think so. I had a BBS01 350W/36V motor years ago and now have two BBS02-B 750W/48V motors. I believe the shape of the controller changed with the "B" models. Somewhat along the same lines, I'd like to know if a 36V type "B" controller installed on a BBS02-B...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

This project is finally complete except for a battery purchase. I'm looking at a small 36V 8.5Ah 307Wh battery pack for this pedal with hill climb assist throttle build that is made up of 30 Panasonic NCR18650PF-2900mAh cells. I think it is a 10S3P. Can anyone tell me what the...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

Yep, this MY1018 was about the same cost with controller, 3-level throttle and many other kit parts. I still have to get a 148mm ISIS freewheel crank setup. I don't want to run square hole mount cranks on this ride. Glad to hear others are enjoying this type of motor and throttle assist...

MY1018 Mid-Drive Crank Freewheel Hill Climb Assist eMTB Proj

Haven't posted here in a while, because I sold the Santa Cruz Hightower carbon ride after 9 months of bombing downhill bliss and pedaling up hill anxiety. Figured the money invested in that wonderful ride would be better put to use elsewhere. Specifically an eCruiser Electra Lux aluminum...

MID drive and Gates Carbon Drive

Please post up pictures of all your broken Gates Carbon Drive belts. I've never seen a broken one before. How ripped up is the center line groove from the improper belt line?

MID drive and Gates Carbon Drive

I have to agree with the BBSHD and your incorrect beltline being the issue. A RM Rohloff Gates Carbon Drive ride is insanely expensive. It has less than half the power output of the BBSHD and a proper beltline to a Rohloff rear IGH. 1000 watts and almost 1-1/2 times that at peak power for the...

    Mid-Drive Selections for Quality!!!

A more important point is expense doesn't mean quality. I've been using Bafang BBS01-02B for two years now "in stock form with recommended voltage" and not a single problem at all. I'd say that is great quality! And not just quality, but quality at a good price. Like others have...
