Using extra batteries that don't match battery cradle with integrated speed controller

I'm looking at getting a new setup and having a controller integrated into the battery casing. The problem is I want to be able to use my old batteries for longer range, or if I forget to charge, etc. I figure I'll probably be able to wire up a tail that comes out to connect to other batteries...

SOLD! I'm getting rid of old junk -- controllers, chargers, etc. $20 + shipping.

Just want to get rid of this stuff as easily as possible without it going to waste. $20 + shipping for as much as you are interested in from below. All was working years ago when last used, but has not been tested since unless otherwise described. - 2 controllers (sticker says "094310WST-MII...

Best value 18650 flashlight: ATACTICAL A1

Just thought I'd share that this flashlight is great. $20 comes with a quality battery and charging cable. Battery and flashlight perform far better than anything I've gotten for a similar price. Specs seem legit. 220 lumen mode is brighter than all the "900 lumen" flashlights I got from Deal...

Finding good quality V Brake Pads

I cannot for the life of me get the Koolstop pads to stop screaming at the top of their lungs. Are there any other options out there?

    Epic rim failure. Why?

Ah, dampening, good point. If this had happened on the back instead of front I would have been able to steer better and maybe stay up longer, but I think anyone would have to expect they're going to go down if that mess is hanging onto their back hub. Anyways, the main moral of the story here...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

This was a double wall aluminum rim with stainless steel nipples . I searched this winter for a list I once had of the various periodic maintenance that should be done to see if there was anything important I was missing, but I wasn't able to find the one I liked, and I didn't encounter...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

I'd imagine it'd be more accurate to say I had hit thousands. It is not really reasonable to avoid them here due to the quantity and having to share the road with other traffic. That being said there are some large enough that must be avoided or the result would be a crash regardless of the bike...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

Okay, I think I know what happened, spokes got loose. There had been a subtle noise coming from the front that I thought was maybe due to worn out bearings, but now I realize it was probably the rim shifting a little due to the spokes being loose... Never realized it was so important to check...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

Hurt enough I can't go out and have fun tonight, but seems to just be a bunch of contusions at the moment. Probably won't feel good to sleep on my left hip for about a year, but whatever. Only concern I have is that maybe something happened to my left rotator cuff, but I already had surgery on...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

Yeah, it's almost 5 years old. Same bike I had when I took a ride with you in Beaverton 8) Pretty sure the spokes are a larger gauge than standard though

    Epic rim failure. Why?

I'm really confused as to how the front rim could be the one to fail on me. The back rim is just from some $150 Shopko bike and obviously there's way more weight back there since there's no suspension back there and I have a 20lbs battery on the rear rack. And the rear tire has gotten way more...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

The tire was basically the same width as the rim. There was no noticeable ballooning. I might check on that when I'm less sore tho I think a lot of the spokes took quite a beating in the crash. I thought I maybe heard a strange ping come from the front wheel earlier in the night, so there...

    Epic rim failure. Why?

Never a pinch flat. I think only 1 flat tire on the rim in 4 years. Tire is actually only 1.95" wide when inflated.

    Epic rim failure. Why?

So I was cruising a long last night and went over a pothole not any more gnarly than any of the hundreds I've gone over before and then all the sudden something clearly had gone terribly wrong. I was only able to keep the bike up for like another 30 feet before going down. When I got up, the...

    Ping charger failures

They're like 3 years old, so I would assume not.

    Ping charger failures

Whoops, yeah didn't even have the ground wire connected at all. Checked the big 200V capacitors like the one that has the "QC pass" sticker on it, but they were still fine. Were those the ones you were talking about, or are there other capacitors I should check?

    Ping charger failures

In the picture there's a component that had a pretty epic failure just below the big capacitor with the "QC pass" sticker on it. I replaced all the damaged components already and it worked for a minute before failing again and now I can tell what's broken. All the parts I've taken out and...

    Ping charger failures

Welp, both of the Ping chargers I own are broken now. This last one at least gave some clues to what went wrong though (https://flic.kr/p/rwypL3). I replaced the obviously damaged components and it worked for about a minute charging the battery before I heard a spark and saw a little smoke and...

    Ebike towing a bike

When I ride with non-ebikes that want a boost up a hill, I just ride up next to them, put my hand on their back, and push them up the hill. Can't really pedal while pushing though and there's a limit to how steep of a hill I can pull it off on. Similar limit to what the power of my setup is...

No longer able to charge. Charger or BMS?

Great success! I ended up soldering the gate and drain legs into their usual circuit board holes and building a fat bridge of solder between the mosfet drains. Thanks for the guidance!

No longer able to charge. Charger or BMS?

Hmmm... the heat caused the surface of the circuit board to come detached from the backing, so it came off with the mosfet. Seems like I need a whole new BMS, no?

No longer able to charge. Charger or BMS?

Btw, if something doesn't work out, it's fine to bypass the BMS and connect the charger directly to the battery to get a charge, no?

No longer able to charge. Charger or BMS?

Welp, it's definitely the BMS. I have a old BMS that was DOA when the battery was shipped to my friend. Think had the same problem of not charging, but I was thinking the discharge mosfets on it are probably the same and I'll just harvest one of those to replace this failed charging mosfet. Now...
