    Interesting canoe paddle with motor..

This paddle turned up at my work, I thought it might be of interest, or somebody might know who made it.. It has a motor in the bulbous part of the paddle, a simple thumb switch in the handle and can be connected to a car battery. The prop is a model aircraft variety and seems to have a limited...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

I had the same problem with mine. It seems the MSU has switched it on permanently. There could be a relay in there that's seized but I think they might be mosfet controlled, my MSU is potted in epoxy so no way of fixing it . I ended up rewiring the brake light so the always on brake powered the...

That is expensive, you could build or buy one for much less, is yours 60V lithium?

    E-max 110 headlight mystery

Hi Kevin, the Sevcons are very good controllers, I would stick with it unless you are desperate for more speed. 80A is the battery side current, 450A is the max phase current it can put through the motor wires but it is probably limited to well below this . The 60V 40A pack you mentioned would...

    E-max 110 headlight mystery

Thanks friendly1uk, I had come to that conclusion my self I'll try the capacitor. Hi Kevin 1963, I think it would be unwise to over volt the existing controller. I believe they ay are Sevcon models in the newer E-max and voltage depends on the model installed. If you can find out which one it...

    E-max 110 headlight mystery

Thanks for the links Amberwolf. My replacement LED bulbs would work if the bike had a standard 12v DC motorcycle type wiring loom, instead it has a central "black box" which all the switch gear and lighting is connected to. I would just like to know what AC or PWM signal it is putting out to...

    E-max 110 headlight mystery

I'm trying to retrofit some H3 LED bulbs, It turns out the lighting system is some sort of AC :? I tried putting a voltmeter across the bulb and I get a voltage reading of roughly 2.6V AC, there is also a buzzing when they are switched on. The dipped and main beam are different brightness...

    Gogoro scooter

They may have dialled up the power limits for the expo :D I think thew battery swap would work great for the pizza delivery outfits and postal services, that's where it would make a big difference, the sooner they get all those 2 stroke engines out of towns and cities the easier we can breathe.

    Gogoro scooter

You might have seen reports of this from CES, I'm not too fussed about the battery swap + infrastucture (seems a bit far off), but the engineering of the scoot looks good, have a look at the graphic of the drive train on their site: http://www.gogoro.com/#/faster Water cooled motor, monocoque...

Mine were from the dodgy Victpower. There are other sources now but probably more expensive, you might also want to look at Nissan leaf cells.

Can anyone tell me how the headlight system is powered on the e-max? I wanted to try some LED H3 bulbs for the headlights but they seem to operate on some sort of AC , my meter only reads 2.7V across the main bulb in both AC and DC modes, there is also a buzzing sound when they are on. The...

Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *PICS*

I fitted a 150A reverse diode across the breaker on my smaller scooter, this was to allow regen currents to feed back into the battery if it tripped , it seemed to help as the 18FET infinion I used usually blew under regen braking.

13 electric vans for sale UK £17500, that's £1350 each!

If they are the Sodium Nickel Chloride ones they can tolerate being run flat, they solidify and then need to be 'thawed'. It's a chemeistry that only works if your plugging in at night and using them daily such as delivery or public transport, personally I would replace with Leaf cells or...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

There is a cross section of the motor at the bottom of this page: http://www.proud-eagle.com/pro3.asp you can see how the backplate and bearing meet the axle,it will take a lot of force to remove it because the magnets are trying to hold the stator in the case, a bearing puller would help...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

Hi costicuta, I have set regen current in my Sabvoton software so it takes maximum 80A phase current for ebraking and 25A when I release the throttle, I see it go up to -2.5KW on my CA when I brake hard. I'm not sure how you set it in Kelly software, is it a percentage of your maximum current?

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

It should be possible to get at the back of the stator, you have to remove the motor from the swingarm and pull the back plate off the rear bearing. I found the regen was causing the keyway on the axle to move back and forth under acceleration/deceleration so I ended up using some scotchweld...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

I don't know what the phase amps would be in a kelly controller running at 175A battery current, it could have been over 400A! I do get a slight buzz with my Sabvoton controller under hard acceleration, I assume it is clipping the waveform to limit the phase current.

Thanks ctirad, It's detailed earlier in this thread when I removed the stock controller and replaced it with Greentime 36fet, (Dashboard only shows welcome screen and indicator lights) I had to use a 72-48v DC/DC converter to power the original logic board for the lights etc and also a 72/12v...

    E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

As just mentioned, I have now fitted a Sabvoton controller, the 72V 6KW model, It took some time to set up but was worth it! It is much better than the Greentime 36FET , there is no buzzing from the motor at startup just silent power :D . It is so much better with a torque based throttle, no...
