A few more pics; A few more parts have arrived so more pics to follow as they get fitted.

    A new frame

This area of the design has occupied my thoughts a lot, this is the first incarnation. Allthough the drawing isn't clear in this area it does have a gusset folded over the top tube connecting the 3 points of attachment to the battery box to spread the load further, not too dissimilar to Tek's...

    A new frame

Not in this frame but the next one I am putting together will be having a Cro in it. When I get around to jigging it up for manufacture the ability to build the swingarm with extra width will be catered for. I still have to jig up for the fitting of the rear caliper mounts too, I will get that...

    A new frame

I have been working on a new frame design for a while, progress has not been as fast as I would have liked but I have now got one together. My thinking behind this frame is to produce and make available to others a frame that people could move their own cycle parts over to from an existing ebike...

    Cromotor Ticking/Clicking Sound on eBrake

I don't think it is the stator, the sound would be duller, this one rings like it is resonating through the spokes. I think the loose magnet with a little room to move is a distinct possibility. You cant rule anything out or do an accurate diagnosis, it is going to need exploring.

Best way to enlarge hubmotor spoke holes? How tight a fit?

It might be worth retensioning the wheel now you have "settled it down" with some use. This is always a good idea on any wheel build after a good shake down and can only be good for the integrity and longevity on the wheel.

    Extended bottom bracket spindles

Eclipse bikes in the uk have a 153mm BB cartridge for £10.95, it is not symmetrical but I am sure the end caps can be swapped to give you 2 different offset options. I believe this one is sold by them to enable the Cyclone motors to fit between the pedal cranks...

Just downgrade and then caused a short-circuit

There was foot path from Pine close through to Briars way but not directly to Maple ave. There was one from Sandham lane that came out opposite where the shop was that had access to the back of some house on Pine close. I remember when they built the houses on Maple ave!! I had a load of mates...

Just downgrade and then caused a short-circuit

I grew up in Ripley, lived there till I was 18, well, grew up is debateable! :-) We lived on Pine Close by the Hospital.

Hey Quackstar, where abouts in Derbyshire are you?

I cant find a decent bike

I would say go for regen if you live in an hilly area with lots of long coasting down hills, if your commute is relatively flat there will be little gain from it. But that is not my main reason for replying in this thread, in your op you mentioned rear suspension and having the battery hanging...

Having read that it sounds like I was quite lucky to get in to be able to put it right!

MS Windows-7 screwed me, Linux/Ubuntu discussion

I turned my machine off 2 days ago and it displayed the message do not power off your machine an update is in progress. So I left it and went to bed, like I have done many times before. However the next morning it would not boot up, it took me a while to get in, then I had to do a registry...

    New 7 cell Battery Medic

It doesn't say anywhere in the listing that this can balance or discharge? so I would liken it to a cell-log rather than a battery medic. cell-logs are available in 8s for a similar cost so I don't see this as being better than anything that is already available?

    Downhill coasting bikes

That Ttrotrx scooter looks great, except I don't like the idea of being tethered to the back pack battery, and maybe it could do with a seat and some pedals! Someone should invent something like that!

mods to MOUSE- added page down key.

The battery on my Acer is specced at 10.8v, I don't know what the cell arrangement is to arrive at that figure but I guess mine would work on a 12v feed from the car.

Descendence bikes open-source electric bike frame

It will be out there very soon for all to see. Maybe someone will see an aspect of it that inspires them in their own build, after all, imitation is flattery! Madm3chanic certainly has the ability to build a very tidy chassis, I hope he focusses his talent with some brilliant inspiration too...

Calculating spoke length with staggered spoke rim holes?

Justins spoke calculator has the ability to accommodate paired holes in its calculations. Sorry, I misread your post, you should measure the distance between the 2 rows of holes in the rim and knock the same amount off the flange to flange measurement of the hub, or knock half the amount off...

    Cowardlyducks - E-BikeE builds

Woa!! Spoke threads are not cut with a die, they are rolled into the spoke, you cannot extend them by cutting! What I suggest you do is use the simulator to try and determine the correct hole spacing to do a radial paired hole pattern with the spoke length you have, if they are not long enough...

I think I need new grips

I like the Renthal grips in full diamond, not the waffle ones. They are available in several different compounds and also a larger diameter, with the thicker ones being better suited to e-bicycle use, the thinner ones are great on a motorcycle when you are wearing chunky gloves. Renthal trial...

Best way to enlarge hubmotor spoke holes? How tight a fit?

That does look an impressive build, Keep us informed on how it pans out. I don't know whether you have mentioned it further back in your thread but is this used in a rigid or suspension frame? A bicycle wheel with its thin spokes has a springiness to it that shares the load and absorbs...

Descendence bikes open-source electric bike frame

While out with the wife on her Euro legal bike and me riding my Bomber with its 72v 20ah life pack we would travel at 17mph ish 27kmh. At this speed on flat ground with gentle pedal assist the Bomber would give 80 miles (128km) to a charge. The distance you can cover will be very dependant on...

    9c clone motor

I measured it when it was apart Ron, the stator is a 27mm stack of .5mm lams and the magnets also measure 27mm. The wind is 9x7 so 63 strands same as the HT3525. 5% more than the 12x5 HS3540.

    9c clone motor

The sides of this motor are just about square, there is certainly no measureable space advantage further out. There is room to fit a disc spacer to bring the disc out maybe as much as 3mm. There must be calipers available that will fit.
