Could headway cells be used for motorbike battery?

As the title suggests, I'd like some advice! I would like to use 4 x Headway LiFePo4 3.2v cells to create a compact 12.8v battery for a motorbike - would they stand up to the charge/discharge rates from the motorcycle generator? The standard bike battery is rated at 12v / 10Ah - the generator...

Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

I wish the RGV was on the LAMS list! Nope its just a lowly GS500F - makes about 45hp but still cracks the ton in about 6 seconds (faster than most cars  ) I have a pair of jeans made by Hornee - they are look exactly the same as your white cammo pants. They're quite soft and don't feel...

Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

Hi Jay, has been a long time since I was on ES last so I'm glad to hear you are beating the illness and still riding hard! Just spent the last 30 mins cruising thru your videos and there is some awesome footage, both on-road and off - but after seeing them I can't help but worry... A fortnight...

Time to Buy a New Computer. Want fast and reliable.

Just replaced my regular hard drive with one of the new SSD (Solid State Drive) on the weekend. The time between BIOS loading and Windows 7 being ready to use is only about 4-5 seconds - I have never seen SCSI or a 10,000rpm raptor load this fast its just unbelievable! It used to take between...

Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

She looked pretty fragile and I reckon a decent hit at speed would have broken most of the bones in her body - sure she ignored every rule in the book but in the end, pedestrians still have right of way. Unlike this NJLrcG64ulU Better to be wrong and let her live, rather than be right and...

    How Fast is Too Fast?

My 72v Hadron was capable of pushing 87kph on the freeway flats and would tear around all day at 70kph thru traffic - sure it was a rush to ride it that fast but it was based entirely on adrenaline from fear!!! I feel safer winding my Suzuki off the clock than I ever did riding my MTB at...

Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

Awesome post Jay! Nevertheless I am happy with my 72v Helga and quite enjoy being tossed (thrown) off and beat up every now and then :D I think I would end up breaking Kara Kent though... could we build a Kara/Helga hybrid pack?

    Quick Question on wheel building

Quick answers for a quick question... I'm swapping out a hub motor from a 26" rim onto a 700c alloy rim The motor is 36v 500w. Do I NEED double walled rim or should the standard rim suffice? Hit me

    Unsane's Hadron

Very much so! My shoulder is getting better after the "40kph flip" so whilst I am unable to ride I decided to take some time and neaten up all the wiring, install the new BMS, make a new acrylic cover for the frame, paint a few things.... or maybe start transferring the gear onto my new project

    Australia - the nanny state.

For those of you who have never driven through the rural roads of Tasmania (or rural Australia for that fact), just a little insight... they can be downright dangerous at high speed for many reasons: - more often than not there is no centre line and people will cut corners and take up the whole...

    Anyone done a hydraulic drivetrain?

I got thinking about the exact same concept a few months ago and after an exhaustive search of the web I could not seem to find any readily available production drive units... My thoughts were to connect a decent RC motor to a car power steering pump but without a unit to convert the pressure...

    Amperage Overload!

Getting some worrying feedback from my CycleAnalyst (direct plug-in type) and was hoping someone could provide some advice... Setup consists of 72v Headway lifepo4 pack, Golden Motor 1kw hub (not the pie) and what I think to be a Lyen 4110 controller (Hyena to confirm  ) The only...

Sorry if you like them but the twin handlebars were severely modded today  they are now about 100mm each side and look like those dumb arse fixed wheel courier bike handlebars - they hold the CycleAnalyst and the Nitelight now and thats all!!! Thanks for filling in the blanks Jay - I...

What kind of helmet do you use?

R-Jays Dakkar is cheap insurance for me! Anything over 30kph and its essential IMO It does get a little foggy when ou are breathing hard but then you can just crack the visor open and its all good - this helmet also has heaps of asjustable vents to keep you cool.

    Unsane's Hadron

A couple of months ago I asked the forum for some advice on an e-bike setup, mostly due to the fact that I have very limited electronics knowledge (notwithstanding 15 years in the automotive industry working as a mechanic and master technician) I had spend many evenings searching through the ES...
