    Have you had a stroke?

I have just under 8 weeks to collect remaining data for this project. If you have had a stroke, please help test a brand new instrument based on morphing faces. D-VAMS or 'Emotiscope' was 3 years in the making. It is not for profit and will be freely available for use on the internet. www.xvams.com

    Have you had a stroke?

The "within five years" stipulation has been removed. If you have had a stroke, ever, you are eligible to take part. I'm about half way there now, and just need another 20 participants. Thanks for people who already took part. http://www.xvams.com

    Have you had a stroke?

Yes, sorry to hear it. Any kind of ischaemic attack is bad and life-changing. This research is intended to help people who've had their language badly affected after a stroke, which happens in about a third of cases. I hope you improve, and can get back to being more like your old self.

    Have you had a stroke?

Hi, just a notice to any stroke survivors or their relatives, here. I'm involved in a study of a mood assessment instrument and need to recruit some stroke survivors for a short (10-15 min) task. I'd appreciate it if you could pass the link on if you know anybody who's recovered or recovering...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Mouser part 283-6.2-RC (Rx04/Rx05 - 6.2Ω) is no longer available unless you buy a ridiculous number, now (1000), so it's been substituted for part 283-10-RC (10Ω) in the order forms (as per Richard's substitution suggestions). If they go back to stocking the 283-6.2-RC in sensible amounts...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Thanks, Marc. I see what you mean now: the Mouser order forms BOM, *not* the Word document BOM. I've fixed this in the Mouser order forms accordingly. Thanks for testing that out and reporting the corrections. It should all be plain sailing now for anyone else using the Mouser forms. :)...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Nice work! Great to hear it all came together so well :). Yes, the first cell-circuit is sometimes a teensy bit off, but I've been running mine with my 24s2p pack for over three years without issues. I saw your build thread: great job! I especially love that crazy custom pack and sheet-metal...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Thanks for the heads-up on the Rx07. I've changed the amount to 24 in the Mouser parts list. U2/U3 *does* require 2, - one for U2 and one for U3 (same chip). Look on the board. http://www.zenid.com/images/GF4.1b_L.jpg As for your query about Rx01, well you know it's 73.2K for LiPO, and 48.7K...

I've put together shared project forms that can be used to order the parts. Zephyr 4.1b LiFePO4 24s components order form: http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=7b8daff5cc Zephyr 4.1b LiPO 24s components order form...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

So, basically, Richard, the answer to yopappamon's question about daisy-chaining up to 48s is yes, but a minor mod needs to be made to keep the voltage regulator powered from 24s, right? I'm guessing cutting a track somewhere and adding a crosswire... Can the control circuit FETs take it, or...

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Are you saying it could theoretically go to 100s? Wow! What's this limit based on? I thought the FETs would get toasted with that much wallop!

The new batch arrived today. Say hello to the Zephyr 4.4b. :) Extreme close up: http://www.zenid.com/images/GF4.1b.jpg Thanks to everyone whose pre-orders made it possible! Here for more info: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55125

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

Richard says that each board is suitable for "5s to 24s" (as specced in the shop). I take from that that it can handle a minimum of 5s.

The diode addition Richard describes has now been incorporated into the 4.4b version of the board.

I've had queries about substitutions for the now obsolete 512-FAN431LZXA. I already PMed Richard about this because I need spares for my own Zephyr unit. Here is his response:

That's right. There's a full BOM parts list in the documentation referred to earlier (which can just be pasted into an order from Mouser), plus instructions for assembly and testing: http://www.zenid.com/goodrumfechter.htm

    ** STUDY CLOSED **

Someone PMed me asking if this is still on. Yes, the experiments are still on and will remain on until I post an update. If it's closed, I'll change the first post to reflect this.

    ** STUDY CLOSED **

No, these experiments are shorter (about 25-35 mins), so they pay less. £4/$7 per experiment equates to about $14/hour if you want to look at it that way... If you do BOTH experiments, then it is £8 or $14 total.

    ** STUDY CLOSED **

Experiments 3 and 4 are now LIVE! If you participated before, please ask if you want to be assigned any of these. The next few participants joining have both Experiment 3 & 4 automatically set up and waiting. Background I am currently recruiting English-speaking participants, 18 years of age...

    earthships

Except you're talking about tyre dumps; these guys have just sealed theirs into big plastered walls. As I understand it (and I would think the architects would have considered this too), there isn't any off-gassing from the tires as long as sunlight and air cannot break the tire down. In...

I'd love to be part of a community like that, but British weather is too crappy for us to survive well on solar. I did once think of buying a place with a river running through the land so I could do a small hydro project, but, well, land with rivers is expensive over here, lol. I like the idea...
