    portable air compressors for tires

You'll need to open the case to see if a voltage is printed on the motor, or if that diode mentioned earlier is present.

    portable air compressors for tires

That's what I wanted but not at the cost over here- even imports end up around four times as much, and then if it's spotted by customs it would be duty, then our vat at 19% on top of it.

    portable air compressors for tires

I'd be interested to know about the motor inside the unit- if it is marked as 12V or 48V? Mine has no additional circuitry inside- the 12V cigarette lighter is connected directly to the motor.

OK, just been offered a refund from banggood, I guess it's an admittance that it's a 12V item. I think it will go to my brother as an emergency option for his car (but I AM tempted to put 48V through it ....) So back to the original hunt for a cheap emergency compressor... I have to say that...

I know Banggood were on holiday but should have been back this week but no reply yet. I did send pics to them but haven't posted any here because photobucket.com stopped the hosting of pics without getting a fee which is too much for the number that I do publicly post. Speaking of which- are...

    portable air compressors for tires

My 48v compressor arrived today but.... it seems to be 12V. It has car cigarette lighter connector not the IEC connector shown in the product pictures, no sticker saying 48V on the unit, and the motor itself is stamped 12V. I've emailed banggood for their story.....

    portable air compressors for tires

I've just come across one that takes AA batteries. More expensive but you can get those batteries most places (apart from on the trail!) but I guess rechargeables would be good, NiMH possibly better than alkaline. I'm not so sure about the AA size, possibly a bit small, so it's one of those...

I'd not thought about cutting the size down, I'm interested in it after seeing the 'after' pics too. Thanks

    portable air compressors for tires

if anyone is interested there's a 48 - 60V portable compressor at banggood- 8.44 UK pounds delivered so that must be under $12. There's only a few left so if you're interested move fast. (I've looked at banggood a few times but not previously bought from them).

    portable air compressors for tires

As is happens I have a ryobi drill and two of the batteries, I'd already looked at this unit but with UK duty and shipping its a bit expensive. Next big lottery win though... And really it was something I could carry on the bike for emergencies I wanted, not frequent use. I got one of those...

    portable air compressors for tires

There are lots of cheap portable 12V portable compressors for lowing up tires, and there are even a few for 48V - 60V. What's the difference that makes them suitable for the higher voltage- is it just a series resistor? Reason is I generally run at 36V so would like to convert a 12V to run on a...

More good ideas. I love the diversity of things that people come up with. My batteries go at the back because my bike has a step-through frame and I can't put anything in that space- I need it to get onto my bike because I can't lift my legs high enough to get over a crossbar. As time has gone...

XPD: open-source keywin e-bike lab replacement

The problem is that these are not mass production items- you'd need something that is mass produced then you lose the nice things such as that programmable settings can be customised to your individual desires. Crystalyte X5 axle, who wants one?

Yeah, I'd be interested too- a quality one would be good- and as said Crystalyte can't supply them. I'd like one that's longer than standard too- an extra 10 - 20mm thread length would be nice. When researching sites I came across one that said the front and rear axles were the same but I'd...

Crystalyte X5 axle, who wants one?

The threads on my front are also poor- the major diameter on mine is smaller than the standards specs on both sides, with one side worse than the other. I tried Crystalyte but they couldn't supply them, they'd probably have been poor anyway. In the end I used nyloc nuts - there seemed to be 2...
