Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

Hi Chalo, How do you like your Stokemonkey? It was one of my inspirations why I came up with the mid-drive for the Yuba. I really think that the stokemonkey is a great product. Re: Derailleurs on the mid-drive, I have logged almost 850Mi of off-road riding, only maintenance I have done is...

    Several Yuba Mundo Builds

It's a MAC 8T Geared Hub Motor. The Hub's mounting holes are too near the rear drop out. If you situate a chain coming from the motor mount, it will rub on the chain stay. With the setup you mentioned, aligning both left sides of the hub motors will be hard plus the chain rub on the chain...

    Several Yuba Mundo Builds

I was going to go that route before I finally settled into what I currently built for the V3.3/V4. Achieving a good chainline is impossible not unless you use a jackshaft and another fixed gear cog to line up to the rear motor's disc rotor mount. You will also be limited to using 26 x 2.0 or...

    Several Yuba Mundo Builds

Hi Snowranger, It is safe to say around 2000w but that is pushing it, the kit comes with a 10T MAC motor and a 9 FET 4110 Infineon 30A Controller. You can upgrade to a 12FET 45A Infineon to easily output 2500W safely, without pushing the limits of the controller. Top speed Im getting right...

    Several Yuba Mundo Builds

Thanks. Yes, the Nuvinci will be a perfect match. I love how you can shift gear ratios while stationary. Works well when you forget to downshift before a complete stop. :D

    Philistine's Yuba Mundo Station Wagon

Thanks for posting pics and your thoughts on the front suspension upgrade. Yes, the yuba will really feel weird because of the change in the head angle's geometry. I believe if I am not mistaken, stock head angle is 71 degrees. If you wish to have the same stock handling of the Yuba, which I...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

Top speed w/ 36V12A SLA, rider weight 200lbs + 28lbs battery weight + tools = 22mph. I figured if I used a lighter battery pack, it could be around 23mph. My goal with the drive system is to be able to carry heavy loads going uphill. So far, going up a 12 deg incline with 180lbs of cargo (2...

    Several Yuba Mundo Builds

Here's my mid-drive setup. Cranks are fully independent from the motor's drive. These kits will be for sale soon :D Climbs like a mountain goat. Tried and tested off-road. 800miles of dirt and pavement combined, it's holding up pretty well.

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

I did some fitting today on the mount, the xlite 5304 will not fit the mount. Diameter of the hub is too big, it will hit the seat and chainstays. Motors will fit are BMC, MAC and Aotema rear hub motors with 135mm spacing. BMC and MAC have fast wound motors, but Im not sure if it will come...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

Here is my custom mid-drive set-up for the Yuba Mundo V3.3, but this will also work on the V4. I'm hoping to release the final version of the m-drive pretty soon :D The hub motor drive is totally independent from the cranks. The cranks do not turn while you power up with the motor. My...

Aotema motor cuts out / loses drive

Thanks for the reply dogman. Can this problem be fixed or im better off just getting a better controller? Btw, what is the max voltage can the controller handle? Can I go 60V on it? Thanks again :D

Aotema motor cuts out / loses drive

Hi, Im currently testing an Aotema DD front hub motor. It's great but it would sometimes cut-out and lose drive momentarily for maybe 3 to 5 seconds, then would work fine after that. Im using 26V 12A SLA batts. This happens everyday when I ride to work, usually in the first mile of travel...

Virtual Build Project - Yuba Mundo Urban Transporter System

Yuba came out with the V4 already. They made a few more changes to the frame. There is more room for a bigger Lifepo4 battery pack. Check it out. Btw, I am currently testing my mid-drive system for the Yuba Mundo. It can fit both V3.3 and V4 frame versions. It's currently in prototype...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

That's exactly right, I was thinking of an adapter that will bolt-on to the disc brake rotor attachment side that will have enough space for a fixed cog with a lefty lock ring, plus some spacers then the freewheel. We are only concerned about the fixed gear driving the rear wheel as it has the...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

Yes, both cogs will unwind under motor power and one of the more simpler solution is the key way. Regarding reverse thread, it was totally a noobie thought. I didn't figure out earlier that you also need to have the thread on the hub motor reversed (CW to tighten). One more thing I...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

I saw in a thread that someone used an old bottom bracket cup to extend the threads of the freewheel mount. Screw in the 1st freewheel, then the bottom bracket cup (same thread count 24tpi) screws in the freewheel then the 2nd freewheel cog screws in it. I just can't recall the thread where I...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

I'm thinking of using an Amped Bike Geared Hub motor for my mid-drive set-up, Im not sure if this will work, but since it should technically have more torque, it looks ideal on paper. I will find out once I have set it up. I don't have the new frames yet, I will have them by next week. What...

    Amped bikes geared motor

Is the DD motor better than the geared amped hub motor for climbing? I thought that the geared hub has better climbing performance? Im thinking of using a geared hub motor by amped bikes as a mid-drive system, do you think it will work or Im better off using a DD hub? Thanks

Cyclone Double Freewheel Motor for Yuba Mundo

Yuba just released their Mundo 3.3 version. They made some changes to the frame to be stoke monkey ready. Im not a fan of direct power on the pedals like the stoke monkey but I like the mid-drive setup with dual freewheels. Im just waiting for my V3.3 to arrive and I will probably do...

Yuba Mundo V3.3 - is now Stoke Monkey ready : )

Yuba Mundo V3.3 is now available according to the Yuba website. They made some changes in the frame to make it compatible with Stoke Monkey or some similar mid-drive motor set-up. I really think, with cargo bikes, mid-drive is the way to go. :D
