Re: HT Norko Aline - version mid drive, adaptto+rv100pro

Just thought I'd ressurect this ancient thread having come back to it after so long, probably few (none?) will read this given the traffic here these days but still ... funny to look back where I came from more than a decade ago now. Now working as a elec propulsion engineer, so i have at...

Toyota Prius A/C Compressor Motorbike: The Bike of IPM Motor Science

it would be really interesting to see this same comparison between bus voltages with a fixed input power, to really highlight the impact of FW on output torque/power... great build btw.

have you got a link? thought the nuc could only do halls and the qs was encoder?

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Just for clarity - its Phase amps that drive torque, and they are more or less isolated/separate from battery amps (or rather, are only limited by battery power). @ Cozen: I have both, the stock surron is definitely a bit slower than my box in terms of torque/acceleration, though it does have...

Brilliant work mate... just one question... How much?

The BEST and FIRST Qulbix Raptor mid-drive build!

Id have thought frame modification would be a diddle... basically just weld in a new plate on the underside of the swing arm, to match your 'top plate' bolt positions...

[Sold] Nucular 24F potted for Sur-Ron

are you sure on the 450#? I'd calculated somewhere around 3-350, and can notice a significant increase in torque even at stock battery settings (though only at low rpms, drops off quick) - nuc shows 430-450 phA peaks.

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

nice work mate... mine has been on the backburner... just found out the other week I (along with many workmates) have been made redundant, and that means moving back to AUS at short notice, so might not have much time for this for a while, depends on what happens in the next couple weeks...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

haha nice mate, and im jealous there's a few options you mention there that i should have asked for on mine, like mat paint, no stickers, 48v outpout etc mines still going great, though i have managed to overheat it once (only to the point of thermal rollback, still worked but lost some of the...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

I want to try and do it without modifying the bike, and i dont know if all what I want to program is available. I know with arduino I can get modules setup such that I can adjust stuff on the fly, not sure thats possible with silix. Then I have to get programming access in the first place :P...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Hey mate 1. no more switch for regen - apparently was unreliable so its now a drag brake. So no cutoff - from having one on the surron i think i prefer that anyway - its dangerous when you can touch the brakes and have the throttle in any position (without the audio feeback you'd get from a ICE)...

Do some motors have more/less torque with the same power levels?

Factor your missing in this is that the bike is geared to the same top speed/no load rpm... so the 'wheel speed' kv (or kQ) of the motor ends up being the same, hence the torque produced at the wheel also ends up being the same, even for 2 motors with different kV/kQ. Think a 10kV motor on a...

Do some motors have more/less torque with the same power levels?

Geared to the same top speed, you'll have very similar torque levels, assuming your controller controls the phase amps (most do) if the motor is more efficient, you might see a bump in output, though the inverse is also true. Upgrade the controller and you'll see a benefit. torque and power are...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

hey mate no sorry, haven't done any of it, just been enjoying the bike. 'finally' managed to break something on it too!! just the seat, so nothing to loose sleep over. Shame as it was quite comfortable. Only other issue ive experienced is the controller can occasionally loose sync with the...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Yea i doubt it too, but there's always hope right? :P RE torque sensing, i had been thinking of some chain tension measure as its probably the easiest to retro fit and build. main issue I foresee is chain slap/movement over bumps may activate it. Took the bike for a proper shakedown today...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

I'll be looking at implementing my own, but yea, will mention it too. I have no idea re combining modes, but it shouldn't be difficult if the controller can handle the dual inputs (and no reason it cant imo, i doubt its that close to max brain power) I'll measure the exact wheel base tomorrow...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Read my last response but put simply, yes and no. P=IV yes, but for pack IR your using it wrong... you need to use the voltage SAG under load as V, not the pack voltage. so if the pack sags 3.4V under load, and you multiply that by your current draw, bingo... pack losses. the thing is, the pack...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

again, your half way there. I am not for one moment suggesting a high series pack (for the same total cell count) does not have a higher resistance. Im pointing out that despite the higher resistance, the current drawn will be reduced proportionally such that the losses will be... drum roll...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

let me know if you want more precise measurments (all these are like +-10mm, just done quickly before tea) 1. its enough that it'd be a pain on a steep hill if stopped. requires about a 1/4 to half turn of the pedals. seems more responsive once your moving, but that could just be the 'ease' of...
