Downhill or Enduro bike for my new build?

To address the issues with noise and fork angle, I was using a shorter fork and LR belt drive. Still wasn’t happy with result. LR motor due the frame geometry was very close to the ground. Ended the project by converting the e-bike to the regular DH bike and selling it.

Downhill or Enduro bike for my new build?

I had high hopes, but it turned out that DH on the flat road was not comfortable at all. Don’t get me wrong, the bike was technically perfect, but compared to other bikes I have built it was the worst combination I have tried yet. The e-bike was not used for downhill. The battery was 14s, low...

Downhill or Enduro bike for my new build?

By far my worst build. DH bike and CYC X1 Pro1.

Downhill or Enduro bike for my new build?

Downhill is comfortable only going down the hill. On flat it is useless, as the front fork is not working due the angle that is tuned to go downhill. I would recommend stay away from CYC unless you don’t care about the noise.

    CYC Pro Gen1 Belt drive

I was using 5M Continental CXP belt, no problems at all. The belt could be cut to any width if bought from local shops. Continental 5M 20mm width cost roughly 20 EUR.

    CYC Pro Gen1 Belt drive

For a small wheel I have used 5M-20T steel wheel, bought locally for ~ 3 EUR. I have machined the hole and keyway to replicate CYC design. The idler wheel was done to accommodate the belt length. Using the belt, you will get rid of chain noise, although the gearbox is also making a lot of...

Bafang g06 , magnets unbonded, hub slipping under power

    1. While the magnets still on the rotor, mark the magnets with a permanent marker (you can write numbers on each magnet). The idea is to put the magnets back in exactly the same order to maintain correct polarity. 2. Then remove a few magnets ~ 5. Clean the surface of the rotor and the magnet...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

My "lowrider" with LightningRods belt mid drive kit. Powered with tiny Trampa Vesc 6 75. Battery Li-po 14s 54V. Currently power up to 2.7kW. No monster, but I don't want to stress bike components too much. Non original pedals used. As with original pedals the large belt wheel had too much side...

    Will pay for Teacher/Guide.

Fast, reliable, low maintenance = Direct Drive hub like Hubzilla or similar. However, due huge wheel weight it is not suited to downhill. If you chose to build fast mid drive using bicycle components, it will be not a reliable, requiring a lot of maintenance and shewing chain cassette and...

    E-bike + carbon frame + 52V. 18650 + BMC motor

Remember, that carbon tube is not designed to be pressed between two metal plates, eventually it will brake. You still can make a sub 20kg bike using high quality aluminium frame. It is just my recommendation. :thumb:

    E-bike + carbon frame + 52V. 18650 + BMC motor

Nice bike, but in my opinion, it is not suited for electrification. I would suggest to buy a full suspension bike with old style 9mm QR axle. To mount a proper torque arms you need to attach them to the frame firmly. Carbon is no-go, especially with through axle. Some examples of my build...

Giant Downhill / CYC with belt

Thanks guys! From the design point of view the battery compartment looks kind of boxy, although decided to go practical rather than beauty. The box is fitted snug and firmly holds the battery. Small battery in certain conditions could be a plus, less added weight especially for the downhill. I...
