I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

FYI: There are EVG parts and a frame being sold on eBay. Not me, but if you wanted a frame or parts... http://www.ebay.com/itm/E-Bike-EVG-Ebike-LEE-OEM-New-Beautiful-Cranberry-Metalic-Frame-with-Vin-/321257248145?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4acc6c9591

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

Yes, tiny drill bits snap off like pretzels. I am going to buy a drill press to slowly drill into the gap, which brings a greater chance of snapping the drill bit. The downside of using a punch is metal has to go somewhere. It can push into the one way clutch. Stainless is only for the...

Making a bike alarm with remote warning

I picked up one of the A B C alarms. under $4. Looks like it does work, but crooks will figure them out quickly. The alarm is rather wimpy. Also, picked up a remote vibration alarm. seems much better since it can be hidden. $6. There is a YouTube video with the alarm removed from the...

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

The FIX lasted about 2 seconds. Either the wrong "bearing adhesive" or too much contamination. I heard a "pop" and the motor spun. I'm going to stake it next. Good point on drilling shavings. Once again, duct tape over everything. I might buy a small drill press tomorrow. Harbor...

Temp sensor that's too cool not to share

How high of a temperature will the LM35 sensor take? I need to build a temp sensor for my eBike and my Motorcycle. I have a couple of temp sensors I bought off eBay in the mail. The sensor from Hobby King looks like what I really need...

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

Right or wrong, this is what I did. 1. Duct tape the bearing dust cover and caged roller bearings. Added grease to needle bearings. Cut gap between race and one-way clutch inner race. 2. Spray brake cleaner on the race / one way clutch gap (between blue and black arrows). 3. Turned so it...

    Good point and too late.

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

Thanks for helping. My plan of attack. 1. Duct tape the bearing dust cover and caged roller bearings. 2. Spray cleaner on the race / one way clutch. 3. Let dry. 4. Put in Loctite 640. Tilt so any leakage goes away from roller bearings. 5. Assemble and test the next day.

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

The other tread drifted between fixing two different types of hubs, or so it seemed. The bearing spins on the race, but will not pull off. I guess I could get an automotive puller or bearing puller. I saw one other thread where the owner destroyed the gear. Bad move. I am trying to avoid...

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

That is my problem. The one way clutch spins on the racing. (Between the black and blue arrows) Need to either "drill and stake it" or glue it. Looks like Loctite 640 bearing retainer is what I need. Now, if I can find some. Amazon is the only one for under $10 plus shipping.

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

It looks like the problem with my Heinzman hub is the "bearing / one way clutch" is spinning on the race it was pressed onto. If I am correct in my understanding, I need to make the assembly so the inner spacer (blue arrow) does not spin on the sleeve (black arrow). This may require cleaning...

    Heinzmann disassembly

Hi, Did you ever get the large gear fixed on the Heinzmann hub? Mine is doing the same thing. It should only spin in one direction. Thanks, Kevin

    Cooking a heinzmann motor.

I have the same problem. The motor works fine, the gear just spins. Is there a way to remove it? I noticed the phillips screws.

EVG eBike - Heinzman 36v 500w barely runs

I took my EVG bike out for a test run and the motor runs, but there is no power to the rear hub. Gear issue? The bike is used and the rear hub has always made a slight click. (Not the freewheel.) The bike ran strong for me, but my step-son said it was really slow the last time he rode it...

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

I have been playing with the EV eBike. For now, I will stick with the SLA batteries. I like the simple, plug in charging. Has anyone created a 5 or 7ah backup 36v pack for the rear rack? It would be nice to have as a reserve if the batteries fell short on a ride.

    EarthX batteries

A friend wants to put one in his motorcycle to run the starter. He doesn't want a dead battery or battery fire. The battery packs with built in BMS seems interesting for bikes.

    EarthX batteries

Has anyone used them? A friend will be using it for a motorcycle, but it is interesting they have a built in BMS. http://earthxmotorsports.com/

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

Thanks for the reply. I'll check the brake controls again. See if it is the connection on the other end. The seat, I'll probably replace. The wiggle is just annoying. It's a SX and a pretty nice bike. The forks seem pretty stiff, might need cleaning. Another "To do" item. If I get another...

Temperature inside hub motors - choosing a thermal fuse

Does anyone know how high these go in the temp range? I want to mount a temp gauge on the cylinder head of my air cooled motorcycle.

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

Added a speedometer to it and took it for a ride. I went up a fairly steep hill, that eBike does pretty well! Needed fixes: MOTOR CUT OFF SWITCH ON BRAKE LEVER One of the brake cut out switches does not work. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they work. The working one looks just...

World Domination, I just got my self a 3d Printer!!!

Do you have a part name and company to buy them from? Those clamps seem like they would be great for fasting motors and other items to bike frames. I was looking a building a "rail bike" for riding on rail road tracks. Attaching poles to the frame was a big challenge. Those rubber half...

World Domination, I just got my self a 3d Printer!!!

Does that clamp currently exist? 3d printers represent a whole new world of possibilities. Create your own part, make prototypes, make slugs for making a mold to cast in other materials. For blue prints, there are "print centers". Has anyone opened up a CNC / 3D print shop?

Business up or down since the Bush collapse of 2008

The Federal Reserve and Deficit spending have been pumping up the economy. We will see what happens when the money stops. I hope we don't do 1933 or 2007 again.

Q128 201rpm Motor Not Enough Power.

OK, now I get it. I picked up a 36v Lee Iacooca eBike today. It showed fully charged, so I rode it around on full power. I'm 210 and made it about 6 miles. Clearly, this is a pedal with power and cost when possible ebike. Peaks out at about 17 mph on fast (Kind of boring) and 12 mph on...
