Single 6374 motor with VESC - Temp problems

I had similar problems with a friends board and a 6374. Switched from a car esc to a vesc and it lost lots of power. In the end we had to go from a 245 to a 190kv motor, and from 6s to 10s. The VESC doesn't like big amps - much over 70-80. Traditional ESCS allow a lot more through (my EZRun pro...

I thought you were putting the files on Thingiverse. What changed your mind to sell them instead?

Making the GT2b controller less sensitive

The OP wants to stiffen the action of the throttle lever, not adjust the range or sensitivity. He just wants to make it harder to move by accident. Only two things can do this 1) using EXPO which the GT2B doesn't have. 2) adding something physically resistive - which would be very hard to do...

MBS All Terrain 100mm All Terrain Flywheels

If they perform anything like the standard "off road" elecrtric skateboard wheels.... Then the net result is buzzing feet from the vibrations and no discernable extra grip on loose dirt or mud. Too much power on such small wheels means traction on anything other then tarmac, regardless of...

    Battery connection scheme

I want to help more but I just can't get round the colour conflicts. At a glance it looks right assuming the BMS is getting it's positive feed via the balance leads.

    speed controller and battery question

I second that. If you have no technical knowledge, go with a car ESC

Not blown away with increasing voltage

Well it's as close as you can get without being scientific. We both weigh the same. Same boards, Same bearings, wheels, trucks. Same route, and speeds. Same surface. Almost the same motors - 6364 on 6s vs 6374 on 10s Zippy compacts on one, Multstar on the other (so higsly difference C ratings...

I have had a bad experience with OllinBoard

So you have decided they are "trolls" and they are "wrong". How did you come to those decisions? Who made you the judge of all things?

Not blown away with increasing voltage

We did a full to flat (both 3.3v-ish per cell) test today - lovely sunny day :-) 6s 24Ah (cheapo multistar packs) - I got 12 miles till flat (3.45 per cell at rest) 10s 8Ah (Zippy compact packs) - he got 8 miles till flat/lvc kick-in (around 3.3v per cell when measured at rest - prob climbed...

It's an open forum. No one HAS to reply. Thread deletion is extreme censorship unless there is case for libel, which I can't see happening here.

Not blown away with increasing voltage

It is odd. When I tested it - I rode with the board's owner. We went the same route, similar speeds. He's definitely heavier on the throttle than me.

Not blown away with increasing voltage

I charged his 8000mah 10s pack today, from 3.7 volts per cell to full, with a brick style charger. I put a hobbyking watt meter in line and I put 7000mah in, which seems odd. Far more than I expected. It's looking like he'll only get around 6 miles on his 10s 8000mah setup. Was better at 6s...

    VESC cooling on longboard

They have thermal cut off. It's configurable in the VESC sofware. When I was testing a board with the wrong gearing it kicked in a lot, slowing the VESC down.

Not blown away with increasing voltage

Nice one, well explained - thanks :-) Getting my mate's 10S board tomorrow and am going to check how many Mah I can put back in, then change the LVC settings. P.s. If I remember, I'll put my watt meter on and see how close your numbers are (based on my numbers!) - will be fun if nothing else

Not blown away with increasing voltage

After correction, the 10S setup: 42 volts x 8Ah = 336Wh So he should get more or similar to my older setup of around 7.5 miles (exactly the same boards and wheels etc). Looks like I've set the LVC too high on his Vesc. Will play with it. Any recommendations? Hard to know what sag to allow for.

Not blown away with increasing voltage

I tyoed wrong :-) 8000Mah 10s = 4000Mah 10s x 2 in parallel. My measurements are gps logged on rides until LVC on my Car ESC (on my 6s setup) (which leaves my packs requiring an 80% charge up - 9600Mah into a 12000Mah pack), which is bang on). I've never gone past 7.5 miles on that setup. I'm...

Not blown away with increasing voltage

    My board - 6S SK 6364 245Kv. 12000Mah (4x3000Mah 6s packs). Tested range 7 to 7.5 miles. Now upgraded to 24000Mah (2 x 12000Mah Multistar packs). Good for 12 to 15 miles - done 10 so far with lots left. Upgraded mate's board to 10S 6374 195Kv, 8000Mah (2 x 4000Mah 10s turnigy) - range tested...

eLongboard - plastic is fantastic :D

Lovely modelling work on Sketchup (or what software is it?). I can't see 3D printed parts being anywhere near tough enough for motor mounts, or the battery box. I 3D print a fair bit myself, but nothing in PLA or ABS is tough enough for the work that motor mounts have to do.

    Advice on ESC (first build)

Its not tricky. Just make sure when you flash the FW that its the one for your hardware revision. i.e. 410 for HW 4.10. My mate blew the one I setup for him by flashing the wrong type of firmware for the hardware revision he had. i.e. he flashed something like 407 into a 4.10 board, then ran...

    Advice on ESC (first build)

Vesc definitetly has built in BEC, no need for an external one. Just plug your RX in and you are good to go.
