    Bafang 250Watt setup advise

+ 1 Getting tired of trying to get the programing right, the chain line right and hence the shifting reliable and now getting the right crank arm off ... One more set of attempts to get this right and if it does not work it will go the market to be replaced by a MAC rear hub build. Andrew

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I am getting an Error 21 this morning which I know is the speed sensor. Initially the sensor light was lighting up, so I know it was getting power from the motor and magnet is very close and it would in hte first couple of attempts at resolving the problem fire up the sensor but then on about...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Thanks. Does this bring the chain line closer to the frame or further out or no change? I am looking to see if I can bring the chainline a mm or two closer to the frame. Andrew

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Working through some basic checks: (1) Battery charge? (2) Output from battery correct? (3) Voltage correct on output side of the power cable from the battery? I had a similar experience and it was caused by voltage drop, i.e., bad connections. I would be checking carefully all connections...

Hidden wire brake sensor on Bafang BBS02 750w

I use them with a Bafang BBS01. I have them effective and haven't been aware of any time when it has not worked, however I have had a couple of times when they cut off the motor all by itself: unplugging the cable to the controller and re-plugging it reset everything. It has not done it for...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Based on my own experiences and what I learnt so far, I would: (1) Check any fuses at the battery level; (2) Check the output voltage from the battery. If okay (3) Check each connection for correct voltage on the input side AND the output side. I suspect you have either a blown fuse or a...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

This is a Hidden Brake Wire Sensor so is designed for mechanical brakes not hydraulic brakes. The brake cable is run through the sensor and I assume the sensor then detects movement in the wire. I have one of these with my mechanical disc brakes. Andrew

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I am in the process of transferring the motor from one bike to a new one. I have installed the motor and started wiring up it but have struck a problem similar to what teslanv previously reported in this video ... ucHvGcHRQoQ I am getting a crackling sound coming from the motor, the battery...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

I use the HWBS and it has been reasonably reliable ... had a couple of incidents where it killed the motor: disconnecting the cable to the sensor and reconnecting it sorted the problem. Andrew

I have my controller set to External, Wheel Meter. Is this what you have as zero? Is zero correct for Work Mode? Is this correct as I thought there was only 9 levels of assist. Thanks Andrew

Thanks Ken. I will compare them with my settings. I don't change my assist much preferring at this stage to try to find a happy medium but otherwise I think my approach is similar to yours. Andrew

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Thanks. It turned out to be a fuse issue but I am not sure what exactly. I pulled the fuse out and it was okay and put it back thinking I will have to take the case off and investigate further. Before that I did a voltage check and bingo it is back to 41.7 volts so all good. Thanks for your...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Went to ride to work this morning and no power. Current situation is that my charger fan (I believe it is a 42V 2.5A,10S ex EM3EV charger] is not working this morning but the lights are coming on showing that it is charging and a check of the output suggests it is putting out 42.7 volts, so I...
