    Battery needs balancing?

For what it's worth, the balancing seemed to work. The range was greatly improved - just over 8 miles... I had to go round the short route I planned a few times :) Not sure if it will last though. You're probably right about the C-rate being too high for the pack. I'll look into a...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

+1. When I made a mistake on my order, it took just one quick email to Paul, and everything was fine. He did take about 2-3 days to reply, so it was a bit nail-biting given the amount I'd spent! Shouldn't have worried, though :)

Ebike build for my 20 mile (1 way) commute (oh and an Intro)

I've got the MAC kit from em3ev, so can give you a few pointers. Did you find the kit here: http://em3ev.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=36&product_id=55 ? The MAC has a planetary gear arrangement inside to connect the rotor to the wheel, so it's "geared". Freewheel is possible...

    Battery needs balancing?

The bike's fitted with an em3ev MAC motor with 9 Fet controller. The controller's rated for 30A, which would be 3C. VPower claim their cells are good for 2C, so the plan was to use the controller with limited power (there is a switch that selects 50%/75%/100%). As it turns out, 50% power is...

    Battery needs balancing?

Thanks for the replies. All measurements were taken with a basic multimeter. It's good to know that you can use the BMS monitoring wires to top up the cells. I'll have a go with an old phone charger (being careful not to overcharge!) tomorrow. Here's hoping it's just a lack of battery care...

    need bike frame advice

Yes, it's possible to widen the dropouts to fit the motor in. Sheldon Brown has a good guide, which also shows you how to check that you've spread the frame evenly on both sides: http://sheldonbrown.com/frame-spacing.html

    Battery needs balancing?

Long time lurker, first time poster. Need some advice on battery balancing. I built an ebike as a fun project to mess around with. When it came to buying the battery, I grabbed a 10Ah 36V Vpower pack from an eBay seller in Hong Kong. Charged it up, and the bike works. So far so good. Then...
