AKM 100 250w vs 350w, how do they compare?

The AKM100 and AKM100cst are the same electric motors, only difference is the freewheel/cassette housing. It is stated as 250W continuous. It is 135mm wide. It ways about 2kg (cassette version). The AKM100H and AKM100Hcst are the same electric motors, only difference is the freewheel/cassette...

From he Bafang newsletter (see attached screenshot): Their 2 speed motor has 2 gears for pedaling cadence and not for the motor itself.

Yes, I confirm that the principle is exactly like that. The only difference is that the 2 speed motor has a special clutch system in the lid.

Interesting. I'll try to get my hands on it.

For all I know, this is a normal motor with a 2 speed hub gear built into it. (2 speeds for pedaling, not for the motor)

Old hub motors are very difficult to open indeed, the thread gets quite stuck after some time as the aluminium oxide makes a solid fix. You can try heating the motor housing, this makes the metal expand to get the thread loosen up. Use a hairdryer or a paint remove gun, it can be done with a gas...

There are resellers that can help you. In "the west" it is quite normal that you cannot buy directly from the factory. I mean, try calling Bosch to buy an ebike motor from them, for example. I won't do any publicity for my shop in this forum, that is against my conviction that we are all here to...

    Magura brake pressure switch

The sensors are mineral only, as all Magura brakes use mineral. You could try to clean out all DOT fluid (very thoroughly) and replace it with mineral, it will make the brakes feel a bit less nice but not much and it shouldn't be of any harm. We've done so on a client's bike with Avid brakes and...

Is it mineral oil? They don't work well with DOT

    Magura brake pressure switch

It could be a short circuit in the wiring. Is the brake fluid clean? Too much brake fluid in the circuit, pressure doesn't go back to "0"?

Ask Bonnie for a motor according the week size, XD makes them for all sizes. 700c, 28" and 29" are just different tires, they use exactly the same rim size (622 millimetres diameter), the total diameter is only slightly different, according the different tires (race bike, city bike, MTB. This...

Be careful, the front motor for disc brake is 10mm wider, so 110mm width. On a front suspension, it generally doesn't fit.

If the frame dropout on the bike isn't too thick, there will be no problems for the mounting plate of the trailer, as long as the axle nut is screwed on entirely (on the uninterrupted part of the thread, not on the part where the thread is interrupted for the motor wire). On some trailers the...

Why does my TSDZ2 have such limited power?

The Bosch CX motor is only labeled 250w because of legal purposes. In reality it is about 750w peak power too. And the torque sensor is a lot more sensitive that the one on (most) tsdz2 motors too.

Indeed, with 48v the power will get (33%) over the values that I stated in my previous post. I mostly use 36v motors. Bonnie will help, don't worry, she is very kind.

This motor isn't equipped with temperature sensors, nor any other "overcharge" protection. (At least, the versions that I know) Maybe there is a HAL sensor that is moving, a bad isolated motor winding or a mechanical problem. You could try opening the motor to check the internals for loose or...

That indeed is a strange problem. Does the problem occur in both High and Low?

I believe that it is the right setting, I'll check tomorrow when I'll be back in my shop. This setting doesn't influence the functioning of the motor but if it is way off, the max speed limit kicks in too soon thus stopping the motor. If you ride without PAS, you should also check P4 and C4...

It isn't a motor for throttle only usage, you will need more power to achieve that. If the motor stops at full throttle it might be the throttle voltage that is too high, does it give an error on the display? If not, it might be the throttle that has a problem, does the motor run without...

Is it happing at half throttle too or only at full throttle? Is your P1 setting at 88?

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

Indeed, the wires and the connector should have the same colour on both sides. No need for speed sensor, it is built into the motor. You can fall back on external speed sensor if the one in the motor should fail but that rarely happens on hub motors.

    2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

If the motor does go to low in A (automatic) mode (at start, on a steep climb at low speed), without the switch connected, it probably is the switch. You should check the switch with a multimeter (or a simple low voltage light circuit). There should be continuity between 2 of the 3 pins in H and...

@ecyclist My post was entirely for the angry Bobby, no need to get upset like that. Apparently you have grief for something I posted in the past, that is too bad but not agreeing with my opinion is no need to get all fishy and call my job pathetic. It is your hobby, you even proudly present your...
