    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Cool, hopefully they keep the prices reasonable. The picture looks like a stock unit. I would like to see what modifications they did to the brackets to prevent torque twisting.

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I feel like this kit has a lot of potential. With the right after market parts to fix some small problems it could be great. My only worry is the gears. Are they easy to replace? Are they cheap?

    Specialized Rockhopper Pro Cyclone Build

Really excellent work here. I designed something similar for myself last year but it never got off the CAD page. That sprocket must have been very difficult to manufacture. I designed my part to work with replaceable sprockets like the one in the picture. A plus is being able to change...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

BB sizes are certainly something I will be addressing in the future. The future for now is designing a basic system that works and then worrying about how it will fit all the bikes. I can not divulge any more information about what future plans are.

I hurt myself ebiking today (fixed problem with a CA hack)

Just noticed you replied. I am going to try adding that resistor from the green wire to THI. I am wondering how adding that diode could work. The way I understand it is as soon as EBK goes low it overrides anything that THI says and inputs the low throttle out voltage that the user programs...

Three days left! There have been some great applicants so far but it never hurts to try!

I will be straight with you. This kit is not as quiet as the BBS02. It is designed to run 4 times as much power. The kit is relatively quiet when used at 50 volts since the belt, chain and motor are running at a lower RPM. The problem with that is that at 50 volts you are limited to 2000...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

It keeps the bike itself lighter and more easy to maneuver. Going from a 3 litre camel pack to a backpack battery pack is not a big leap. Many people who mountain bike carry backpacks. Anyone who has been downhill biking knows what I mean. It took a little getting used to in the beginning...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

It is not difficult at all. It is quite comfortable. It is not like I am exhausting myself from pedaling up a mountain here. There is no pedaling involved. On trails having your battery in a backpack allows your bike to be more nimble which is important.

Probably because it is fun as heck and not something that can be easily done without a motor. :)

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

Ill be posting a few short videos in the coming weeks. I only just got a GoPro myself! I was in Kelowna (mountainous and warmer part of Canada) in late February testing my prototype so I know it works great. Now I am back home in Edmonton and there is still snow on the ground! It is also...

You could certainly use this with pedaling if you wanted to. All you would need is a larger secondary sprocket like 80 teeth or higher and to use it at a lower power level like 1500 watts where pedaling actually helps rather than hinders the performance of the mid drives. I just did not design...

If I decide to sell this kit, the pulley will not be the same part number. I have never claimed the pulley I am using is my own design and have no intention of doing so. I appreciate that there are a lot of LightningRods fans on this forum but I am not doing anything wrong by building kits...

The belt tooth design is not proprietary. Lots of mid drives use it.

In my defense I will also transcribe the responses from LightningRods about my design choices when I first approached him. I am saddened to learn that he has now decided not to support my project even though I tried to be clear that this project was similar to his, let us not forget that his is...

Now lets not all jump to conclusions here. I have picture proof that LightningRods signed off on this project. Read from bottom to top. Mods can look into my inbox if they want. http://i59.tinypic.com/2vwiagm.png

I never noticed that extra bearing before. Cool idea. I wanted to go with as narrow a bottom bracket as possible to prevent my crankarms from touching the ground as I made tight turns, so there is no room to add a bearing like that. I own and have tested dicta brand, white industries brand...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

The tensioner is meant to be used both ways but obviously being tensioned up is the ideal. The kit comes with a 68t secondary sprocket but can be used with 66 to 70t secondary sprockets if the person really wanted the tensioner to tension upwards. There has been no problems with slippage...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

That was what I was hoping for. LOL, the reality is that in the end, you are still on a bicycle and need to stay within the limitations of the bicycle. Bicycles can do pretty amazing things though. I am thinking trails more like this where human power could never get you up to the top of a...

The Beast Mid Drive. In Beta Testing.

The motor is very slightly larger than his small block. It uses 30mm magnets. As for the crank freewheel, I am not sure what you mean. Do you have a picture of it? I have not had any problems in the crank area. The aluminum plate that I designed mate the freewheel, 219 sprocket and the...

Not sure how driving an ebike around can possibly be considered a huge commitment. It is way too fun to be work.
