Speed sensor not picking up magnet

I think a lot of dog lovers would really love it. Your "blog" reminded me of books like "Marley and Me" and "The Art of Racing in The Rain." Both have heartwarming stories of the love people have for their dogs as well as the depth and profound sadness when they pass. What happened with you and...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Hey Michael! I wanted to thank you again. I used the solder-seal wire and it worked really well. Long story short, the new sensor is working just fine. I was a little nervous when I cut the cable of the old sensor because at first I thought it was only one wire, but it was actually two sets of...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

That's tough... I've gone through a couple of year-long disabilities, one due to an injury to my hand due to being "doored" and the other due to back. Both lasted nearly a year. We also lost our beloved Yorkie Guinness3/2022. He was nearly 16 and he just wore out. It still feels fresh and...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

That makes sense, thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to tie a knot. I looked at the Haisstronica connectors and I'm sold! They look to be a perfect solution and also appeal pretty intuitive to use. I particularly like how they are weatherproof as I am not averse to riding in the rain. Just...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Well I opened up the Cycle Analyst, which by the way is 4" x 2," so pretty small, The red arrows are pointing to the speed sensor cable itself. The cable is split off into one for speed and one for ground, so definitely two wires with an outer wrap. you can see where they go right near that...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

That was my thought too, thanks. I'm hoping I can get the new one entirely inside the CA. I don't get the new speed sensor until next week, but I'm going to open up the CA today to see what I'm dealing with.

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

I like both of those methods, thanks. And I’m fine with soldering. My first job 42 years ago was to assemble electronic models for machines that serviced catapult tractors. I only did it for less than a year, but I do remember some of the basics. I ordered the new sensor from GRIN. To me, it...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

It’s not damaged, and no wire has ever fallen off. I am 100% certain on that. It’s always been one cable from the CA to the sensor as indicated by the red arrow below: : BUT I suspect it is probably one cable with two wires based upon what you are saying. I’d have to open up the cycle analyst...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Thanks. Question: In looking at mine, it only appears to be one wire from the speed sensor to the cycle analyst, but it is not a skinny wire either. Keep in mind this was made in 2010 by Grin for Stokemonkey. Very early CA design.

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Thanks! I like the simple approach so I will just look into ordering a new sensor from Grin. I was thinking along those lines already, but I like your other suggestions too. Much appreciated!

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Thanks Amberwolf! I cut the sensor itself from the fork and passed the magnet over it in as many different directions that I could with my hand. Nothing registers. I'm guessing I need a new speed sensor then? If so, what would you recommend? Warning in advance, my knowledge here is pretty...

Speed sensor not picking up magnet

Hey guys! I have an original stokemonkey set-up on my Xtracycle conversion since early 2014. I bought it used from a forum member named pdf. It has worked fine for years, in fact the original LifeP04 battery still has about 80% capacity. Problem know is all of a sudden, my speed sensor does not...

Recommendations sought for a quality pre-built battery pack

Hey guys, I have a stokemonkey conversion and my old LIFePO4 battery back bit the dust after 13 years. Can't complain. I/m not inclined on building one, so looking to buy a replacement, possibly a downtube model as I was just carrying mine in a bag under the top-tube. Since LIPO seems not that...

Does/does not hub dynamo make sense on an E-bike?

Trying to get my head around this. I have hub dynamos on my two non-ebikes. One is my Randonneur bike, a Salsa Casseroll. The other is my commuter, a folding Bike Friday Tikit. I really like the convenience of knowing I always have lights on those bikes and am wondering whether I should...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Looking forward to installing the update soon on my Mac! Nice new features, that's for sure! Question regarding the screen saver: Mine only seems to kick in when there is a battery connected to the satiator. I've noticed this a couple times when I forgot to hook the battery back up to the...

New E-bike guy here, any suggestions.

I just checked, and strider's ink for a Lithium Ion 48V 20AH 1000W for less that $400 and free shipping is still good: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-DHL-EMS-shipping-1pcs-lot-48V-20AH-Lithium-Ion-Battery-for-Electric-Bike-with/1449512516.html And it doesn't weigh anywhere NEAR 50+...

    Looking for a horn

I can give a big thumbs-up to the loud bicycle horn! I have had the airzound horn as well. Loud sound, but it didn't seem to register with car drivers that another vehicle was there. Plus, I would only get two or three blasts before it was empty. Got tired of constantly pumping the damm thing...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Had the Satiator since Monday and am loving it! Sooo glad my original charger bit the dust. Just set up my first custom profile a couple of days ago. To acknowledge Justin's unbelievable patience with my extensive back and forth questions through email, I thought I should give my...

    Theft proofing your ebike battery.

Ah! I get it now, sorry. I tend to think too much in Xtracycle terminology. By side carrier frames, you meant the 'U-tubes." Yes, that could totally work. I could test it by using your cardboard box idea that way. After making sure the battery would work inside the case by making a cardboard box...

    Theft proofing your ebike battery.

So you mean the side rails, right? Have to take a look at that. I don't want to interfere too mich with cargo carrying or passengers back there, but I think you might be on to something. Have to check when I get home. I found these 7.62 cases on line right now for $10...

    Theft proofing your ebike battery.

I like it! Mainly because it's a 50CAL AMMO CAN! Super cool! Have to eyeball the bike when I get home, but I'm thinking it won't fit due to my Stokemonkey set-up as you can see in this pic below: but maybe I can figure something else out? Hard to tell from a picture, and the bike is at home...

    Theft proofing your ebike battery.

I'm having the same dilemma. My Xtracycle Stokemonkey is pretty secure with locking skewars on pretty much everything, sold Kryptonite Mini-evolution U-Lock, but I'm always paranoid when I lock it in front of Costco, etc, and leave my battery in the frame bag. Yes, I could detach it and carry it...
