    Test driving the Jaguar I-PACE

I vote for Darwin. Leave the cars quiet, disregard the bereaved during their reality disassociation phase and soon enough the new generation will learn that situational awareness is more important than their mobile devices when crossing the street.

Can a Raleigh Furley be converted?

Short answer, yep. You will need to research your bike specifics (didn't see dropout widths in the specs from your link). A Q100 geared front tyre kit would be easiest and not too obtrusive. A lot of people prefer a rear tyre kit. There are lots of options, have a look around.

Good point Drum. Forced air cooling looks like the only option.

Has anyone tried oil filling one of these? Looks doable and should massively improve heat shedding.

    GaN Mosfet --- Arlo?

Pulling a Kayne here... I just gotta say, thanks Athlon, Luke and Marcos. These discussions tickle my brain. I am not clever enough to understand most of it but the language is at a level that I can learn a bit. Awesome stuff. And once again, thanks Justin for keeping this forum going so this...

    Done with this forum

I have lost some friends to bike accidents, motorised and otherwise. I have lost more friends to car accidents. Once you are going over 30km/h, any sudden stop can kill you. I am with the Luke side of this argument. The less special snowflakes on this site the better.

    railroad tracks then ER

Paracetamol = Tylenol, normal adult dosage 4x 1000mg daily. Ponstan = not sure, maybe Ponstel? Ask the chemist for the anti-inflammatory Mefenamic Acid. Normal adult dosage 4x 500mg daily after meals. Ponstan/Ponstel might be expensive in the USA. Fairly cheap elsewhere around the globe.

    railroad tracks then ER

I did my AC joint (Acriomioclavicular joint (not ACL, the anterior cruciate ligament is in the knee)) several years ago playing rugby. Not as bad a separation as Methods, mine was only a grade 3 tear. The emergency doctor needs his prescription checked, Methods has a full separation with...

    Australian supplier for hub motors

I have always received excellent service from SamD. He stocks lots of cool stuff and contributes significantly to these forums.

My electric Volkswagen Sandrail (Dune Buggy).

The part I would find hardest is remembering that the electric motor is happiest at high RPM whereas ICE's generally are not. I would always be shifting into 3rd or 4th when cruising where it would be better left in 2nd.

All fossil-fuel vehicles will vanish in 8 years

It is likely the majority of new vehicles will be powered by other than fossil fuels in 8 years. I doubt fossil fuelled vehicles will ever completely vanish.

    BBSHD - Creaking Sound

That's a lot of end float in the video of you moving the crank. Looks to me like the thrust bearing wasn't adjusted correctly to begin with. Now you have taken it apart, when you put it back together if you set the thrust bearing clearance correctly you might find the creaking disappears along...

    Amberwolf gratitude thread

Thank you very much Amberwolf. As has already been said over and over in different ways, your uncomplaining effort has made life more pleasant for the rest of us on this excellent forum. Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

A very heavy layer of the red urethane on the windings either side of the stator could be the go. Keep spraying coats from the sides until it is filled. This would keep the ferrofluid or any other fluid out of the windings.

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Dingus, My apologies, upon reflection I think your solution is probably stronger, as in stiffer and less susceptible to deflection at high load. I still think that Dogman's solution is the most elegant so far, in both meanings of the word. Cheers Steve

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I took Spinningmagnet's comment that Dogboy's braces are "correct" to mean that his calculations are correct and his solution is pretty neat. I agree. Dingus' assertion that the braces are not perfect and may be subject to distortion at the bends under extreme load is technically correct...

    Ebike light tap and switch

Your light powering up with a disconnected battery is either magic or regen. I am guessing regen. With the switch, you cut the positive line to the light and connect one side of the cut wire to one of the wires from the switch, and the other side of the cut wire to the other wire from the switch.

    LIPO Burr Grinder

It would be pretty easy to team any hand powered conical burr grinder with a 100rpm 12v gear reduction motor connected directly to a 4S lipo pack. No ESC needed and the power draw should be so low you can use a standard 12v 10amp switch. Plenty of 12v 100rpm gear reduction motors show up with a...
