Noobie here, extreme resistance in hub motor wheel

You could get a controller that has self-study function, it will auto adjust the wiring. :-)

Absolute cheapest 48V battery - Tiny distances

lead batteries was cool ca. 1895 ;-) you need the lipos i -series- for 44.4 volt nominal. maybe 8000 mah would be a more "safe" option, leaves a bit more buffer. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__56842__Multistar_High_Capacity_4S_8000mAh_Multi_Rotor_Lipo_Pack.html

Recommend ebikes for a work fleet

@wes i was just you answering you. and expressing my opinion on "regen". (the "selling" reusing power part) i have tried it, and IMHO it was not a good experience, unpleasant "fly-by-wire" feel - better to use an Acme-ambolt with a steel wire. great it work for you, but its not a nobrainer for...

Recommend ebikes for a work fleet

wes; what s your regen procentage, i would ask? motorbraking is not "free", you are stressing (heating) the motor and the frame is being stressed with sometimes huge mechanical forces on the dropouts- if changing dirt cheap brakepads are cheaper/better thats an open question. regen is...

Recommend ebikes for a work fleet

i would skip the regen, not worth it imo, the power you get back is minute, and it stresses the battery. even better, a bigger battery and run a 20 - 80% soc - run a 15 ah instead of a 12. battery life will be better. :-)

    First e-Build advice: Commuting Recumbent

as dogman wrote, not at 36v. this is under the most optimal conditions. 24v-36v imo is like a pc with 2 gb ram, it will work fine. 48v and < is where the fun begins ;-) but you have to think about the legal situation, and and above 35 kph you re pushing it. safety, my trike is not safe above...

    First e-Build advice: Commuting Recumbent

Imo for your requirements,40kph, a 1000w motor will be fine, you can just use the throttle less. ;-) (you could over volt the thing, as it usually will take up to 63v, thus increasing your top speed.) i got mine here, has both 20" and 26" with 500w or 1000w. http://e-mon-shop.de/ price is...

Bought a folding bike (3spd nexus hub) for my mom

yeah, had one of those. the breakes was amazingly good, but needed adjustments :-) it had a rear hub motor, 350w.think it was a bafang gear hub. maybe a small front hub is enough for your mother, cute100 style ?

Conversion Kit Advice for Commute Bike

The main reason the DD are selling better is price, most noob dont want to pay thousands of $. The point is, dont haul around deadweigth. If you can get the results you want from a 3 kg gear motor why haul around a 6 kg dd? (that has drag) better torque - essential for a commuter in cities...

Conversion Kit Advice for Commute Bike

look like those ev-power Hubs are direct drive (heavy, no freewheel thus drag) you probably would like a smaller geared type, if you are only looking to boost your pedaling. IMHO, only go with DD motors if you need to run alot more power or use the motor most of the time. don't know much...

    winter lipo storage

no, its summer unfortunately. but 18c is pretty good since the temps have been around 25c i the daytime :-) im thinking that the outer cells will be more subject to temp swings?
  22. J

    winter lipo storage

great info, thanks. i have a temp and humidity sensor, now the temp is around 18c, 40% soc- but humidity is kinda high 78%, that cant be optimal :| is set ontop of bricks, and with a "rain shield" -should be waterproof.

    winter lipo storage

hi i want to keep my lipos outside, in a styrofoam box, but the winter might be too hard on the cells. what lowest temp is safe? is temp swings harmful? might get down to minus 10 c

New MTB E-bike from Biltema tuning

Hejsan Sorry cant help with that, and not many here has your setup i think (us centrist). And controllers are often extremely different, and today tech is moving fast. Again you might be right. But i still think, the problem could be that the controller is 13A peak, halt that nominal, at...
