Help debugging a Crystalyte immediate start 20 amp board controller

Well, I've been working through the trouble shooting from the very helpful thread https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=764&start=25 In that thread there a picture that matches by board https://endless-sphere.com/forums/posting.php?mode=quote&f=2&p=93844...

Help debugging a Crystalyte immediate start 20 amp board controller

I've been reading multiple thread but could not find one that suggests anything I have not already tried. I have a Crystalyte 4012/409 hub and a controller for it. As a dual winding hub, the controller has a switch to determine which of the two windings it will use so its not built into the...

    Help Diagnosing BMS failure

Well with a good bit more searching I still did not anything about the unknown 361A chip, so ordered a different model of BMS to replace it. Still hoping I can fix this as a backup so any tips/ideas welcome. Anyone with an old dead BMS with that part on it they want to get rid of I'll cover...

    Help Diagnosing BMS failure

My BMS has failed (and took a headway cell with it). There was a broken sense wire as well so not sure if that cause it or happened when I disassembled the pack. Normally I plug the bike in every day (its my daily commuter). The bike was working fine before vacation but I left it unplugged...

HuayuxinFeng Controller wuxing Trottle.. PAS Compat? LEDs?

After a long of diagnosis I believe the LED are more than just a volt-meter and that the red-green combination was indeed a sign of LVC. The battery was fine, and I had been reading the status from leads connected to the battery which is why I though it could not be LVC as the battery showed...

HuayuxinFeng Controller wuxing Trottle.. PAS Compat? LEDs?

Oh thanks, but I would not care about the LEDs... The issue is that when it is in the red/green state the bike does not work at all. So I wondered what it is trying to tell me. Rode it into work and it seemed okay. But as I headed home, it happened again. I ended up opening up my plastic...

HuayuxinFeng Controller wuxing Trottle.. PAS Compat? LEDs?

I have an bike kit I bought on craigslist. Have it hooked up and running but last week it cut out and the "three leds" (red=low, yellow=medium, green = high) showed only red and green (i.e. skipping medium) Does anyone have an idea what that indicates? Turning on/off did not reset, but...

    Homemade Battery Packs

Just build a home made pack from recycled cells from some military batteries I had laying around. A mix of two types, I tried to balance the capacities in my strings while also trying to keep the original pre welded groups for stability. Then I soldered 12gauge wire connecting them. I got...

How to tell if I can upgrade to 48v

Thanks for the feedback. Well I got some time to disassemble the controller.. and alas the caps are 50v, so no easy upgrade. Pic below So for the record.. a HuayuxinFeng machinery & electron co controller model XF1011090121 is not upgradeable to 48v... (added incase someone else goes...

How to tell if I can upgrade to 48v

I bought a used e-bike kit on craigslist. is 36v ampedbike kit with bottle battery. The Battery is toast.. I'll disassemble to see what cells I can reuse. and test the BMS. I won't use the bottle, and have lots of 18650s to build a new battery for my older lashout, which has a nice battery...

    Build with Crystalyte 4012/409 +Headway + HomeBrewMounting

sorry for the delayed response.. been a while sinceI logged on as the new build has been relatively trouble free. Only logged on as Im looking at a used motor for a second build -- the old lashout as eaten 2 more gears when being used by a lightweight friend, so I've decided that design is...

How much friction in a Crystallite Hub? Overtightened?

Thanks.. going back would be a good bit of work and I'll then have no brakes, so I've been trying to avoid that. Not sure what you refer to as the axel shoulder. Here a pic of the inside of the old cover, where the bearings went. In the old cover the bearings were close enough to the...

How much friction in a Crystallite Hub? Overtightened?

Thanks dan.. the axel on the gear side has a nice shoulder and it is sitting nicely. On the side where the wires come out of the motor there is no shoulder, there the threaded axle with washers. I took it all apart and reassembled it again today. Here is the original ordering It has two...

How much friction in a Crystallite Hub? Overtightened?

How much friction should there be in a hub? I know direct drive has more inherent friction, but I think my hub now has more than normal. Contact: I bough a used Crystallite 4012/4009 hub and build a bike around it. My original build thread has pic...

Need suggestions for Headlight / Taillight

I did a flashlight for a while.. but always worried about it being stolen and when I forgot to charge it and it was almost dead and I had to ride home in the dark I went for a dual cree light from eBay as my headlight. Been using it 2 years and would never go back. I only went for 500LM and...

Show Us Your Homemade Battery Housing

From my build thread https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=80874 -- which has more details. But I got inspiration from this thread.. so figured I'd post a few pic here too. my housing made from things I had lying around. 1.5" Alum L-shaped bar (cut/filed ot mach frame shape)...

    Build with Crystalyte 4012/409 +Headway + HomeBrewMounting

Next steps on the build was the mounting.. and final assembly. Built a shelf from 1.5" AL angle I had lying around, notched on end to hold better against round tube. A couple of L-bracks on the bottom, with a peice of engineer wood flooring (4" planking) for the bottom and back side...

Meanwell clone- AD488.3-400W power supply mods

While I embrace learning from failure.. failure to learn is still embarrassing -- this was not the first time, or even second time I've had the problem of forgetting to check the input voltage setting.

Meanwell clone- AD488.3-400W power supply mods

I also got one labeled like the above.. but unlike your, out of the box mine had a max voltage of 48.8. Resistance measured at R40 and R35 were about same as in your posts. (R35 was .95K and R40 was 1.4K) I applied the R40 and R35 mods but cannot get it above 49.2v (did not measure...

    Build with Crystalyte 4012/409 +Headway + HomeBrewMounting

Well, I'm on the the battery build... I got the Hub with a 48v20ah battery (32 cells of headway 31820). Too big for what I can fit in the triangle.. so I'm splitting it into a 48v10ah pack for daily use and a 10ah add-on pack in a rear rack pelican case) which I can add extended range...

    Build with Crystalyte 4012/409 +Headway + HomeBrewMounting

Not just gotta figure out the wiring. Most important question now.. the controller has one of those 2 pin "trailer connectors" I'll probably replace with a Dean's T (or get some anderson power poles).. but it is not labeled which pin takes positive. On a trailer the part that exposed is...

Thanks.. I would never have guess it was a reverse switch.. I guess for a trike (for which this low a geared motor makes sense) could find that useful. Totally different question.. went to mount it and as you can see in the pic above there are 2 nuts on each side of the hub. So what is the...

    Build with Crystalyte 4012/409 +Headway + HomeBrewMounting

Well I think I've found an answer my own first question from above.. that insert is a type of derailed hanger.. which is apparently often made of even software metal than the AL in the frame http://www.bikehugger.com/post/view/replaceable-derailleur-hanger so probably not good for a hub motor...
