Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Any feedback on this new gearbox from SRI, the 'archimedes drive': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoaHeamUqBE Think this is any easier to manufacture (the one using ball bearings demo'd in the clear acrylic) or hold up to ebike abuse? Anyway, my kit has seen near-daily use for over a year...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

A few more questions: - I need to extend the 'speedo sensor'. Is this a normal pair of wires or is it shielded? - In the 'battery config' screen, can I set a battery >99.0ah? Can I get an accurate battery icon without this matching my pack (120ah)? Maybe in a future release? thanks for...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Problem: My CA3 takes a long time to shut down. I have it in a 72v (20s) vehicle with two Curtis 1238 controllers, who's caps I believe are feeding the CA3 when I shut the contactor off. Is there a suggested way to address this? I've thought about inline resistors and optionally breaking the...

Have anyone tried using 4S Lipo on a 12V trolling motor?

Excellent work guys! I'm about to go down this path on a 24v trolling motor. I plan on using a 6s pack of (3) Nissan Leaf 60ah cells - but otherwise pretty similar to luvxu's setup. I was curious if either of you have measure the current draw and motor temps, either before or after the...

Main Contactor powered by DC-DC Converter ?

Hi. I'm building another 72V AC powered ATV/UTV thing using Nissan Leaf packs and would like to avoid using a 12V battery. Some setups I've seen use a DC-DC Converter with a switchable 'enable' wire (Sevcon's DC-DC, some Delta-Q chargers, etc) that will turn on the DC-DC converter when pack...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Is it possible to *input* information to the CA3 over serial? I have applications where additional information is needed and would really like to be able to have a custom field or ability to flash a text string to say the lower field of the LCD for X seconds.

What does your bike weigh and what is your overall setup?

My Tangent driven bike is 47lbs with another 3.5lbs of batteries carried in my backpack (5ah 12s).

    STIFF THROTTLE

    That is awesome..

    STIFF THROTTLE

I found spraying lithium grease in my thumb throttle quite helpful. The resistance was more with the plastic being poorly manufactured (like most Chinese stuff) causing internal rubbing - rather than a super stiff spring. My Magura twist throttle was buttery smooth right out of the box.

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Justin, Are there plans to monitor cell voltage and provide cell balancing anywhere in the future? Maybe support CAN/i2c/whatever streams from other cell monitors? I trust the Satiator to not burn down my house when charging - but without a balancing option I'm still stuck with questionable...

Mid Drive Motors that mount ABOVE the Down Tube?

Dave and a few others have mounted their Tangent kits within the Triangle. Seems to need a Horst link style aka VPP suspension frame where the pivot is behind the BB. Motors on the swingarm seems to be the ideal solution, but not something you can do without a lot of fabwork for a custom frame.

LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

The prototype LMX is still one of the coolest looking ebikes to date. Love the progress and all the videos. Keep it up! 8) I based my latest build around Hope Mono6Ti 225mm front and back - because, well, 6 pistons are awesome and I too prefer rear braking vs lots of front fork dive...

JP spot-welder, FET-switched, timed adj. pulse

Any more pictures, this looks rad. Did you mill the traces or use a photoresist? Any plans to sell kits/opensource? Voltage or discharge time adjustments?

Descendence Astro 3220 mid drive build

I use a Busmann (Eaton) 187-series breaker. It's marine rated and can be had in up to 200amps @ 48v. Busmann is an industry leader and milspec supplier for this type of stuff...

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Another Hope user here (Pro II Evo) - no issues to date. Also there's lots of talk about the noise of gearbox, but I think most people move out of my way on sidewalks and stuff because of the 'clack, clack, clack' of the hub as slow down :).

Aluminum extrusion subframe build- Prototyping Deck

This is cool, but I worry this is unsafe. Not all extrusions are created equal. Some have a small taper to allow for preloading fasteners in high vibration applications - others are flat ... which when added to the normal deflection makes stuff wobble out. Also be sure to use the thicker...

    Help with number probability

A 9-sided die has 9 possible outcomes. Roll 4 die in a row and there are 6561 possible outcomes (9^4) or .01% you'll roll any valid number. As shown in the above code, the more you rolls you do - the more the results go from seemingly random and start to drift towards their statistical rate of...

    Help with number probability

First off, random number generators are anything but. Secondly, the probability of a random 0-9 digit draw is 1 out of 10. And 10^N after that. So 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Right? Playing with NumPy and the Lea package is sorta neat if you like playing with numbers...

    Ryobi 40 volt. Anyone ?

Thanks! I had glossed over that thinking it was just about the motor. I guess I'll be taking apart my trimmer to see if it too runs without the T1/T2 connectors (like the linked chainsaw thread) this weekend. If so, I'm slapping some Andersons on it.
