    Cycle Analyst V2.3 Issue

Thank you for your responses, fellow sphere inhabitants. I will wiggle the cable going into the motor and see if the problem replicates. I will also pick up some dialectic grease. There is no end to the fog, salt air, and sand that my bike is subjected to daily. Have a nice day!

    Cycle Analyst V2.3 Issue

I have a Trail Viper that was modded with a Lyen controller and a Cycle Analyst V2.3. (Craneplaneguy's old bike) I had a weird issue with it last week. The CA was measuring 10,000 watts when the bike was at rest, and was also measuring an increase in amp hour usage ,also while at rest. The...

    Got my butt kicked today

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, CPG, sounds like you need a a fatty for getting around town in winter. But you ain't getting your Trail Viper back! I'm having too much fun on it! ;-)

    Random throttle problems

I checked the pins, connections, and cracked open the controller. Everything checks out visually. I even swapped out the controller from my folder, and no change in behavior. I recall that I had problems with the folder's throttle too, although not as bad as with the townie. So I am...

    Random throttle problems

Hello everyone. Its been a long time since I've posted anything. I have a converted Townie that, up until now, has been awesome. I shared a couple of posts on it last year, if you do an author search. It has a bitchen wood case. It is a 48V Ebikekit, so 22A controller, combined with a...

Anyone do a Electra 7D cruiser ebike?

This is my 7D build. Ebikekit 500W geared rear motor kit, with Calibike 48V 15AH li-ion battery pack in the wood case. That's my son in the photo. I'm a woodworker and surfer, not an electrical engineer. Hence the retro-woody style :) Its very comfortable, does 26-28mph on the flat, 30mph...

Show Us Your Homemade Battery Housing

Townie Conversion with custom battery case designed and built by yours truly. I wanted a retro look to the battery case that would compliment the aesthetics of the bike. I used Alder as the primary wood, it being one of the lightest hardwoods available with the greatest amount of strength. I...

    Question on controller signal wires.

Ok, thanks, Dan & Jon. I'll just coil it up inside the case.

    Question on controller signal wires.

I have a Townie with a rear-rack mounted 48v Calibike battery. It is connected to an ebikekit controller, 22A. I am relocating the battery to the triangle frame, into what I hope to be a bitchen retro-looking battery case when its all done. Problem is I will have about 5 or 6 feet of extra...

    Folding electric fat-bike

Niiice! Looks like a Trailviper. If I didn't already have 2 bikes, I'd pick up on of these!

    E-Bike Goggles

I use safety glasses similar to what melodious linked to. Just cause I had them lying around. They work really well in the low 50's high 40s range. It doesn't get much colder than that around here. No issues with fogging.

    Townie Bike Ride Video

There are a few triathlete types where I work. They haven't said anything to me, not sure why. But the other people in my office that don't exercise say I'm cheating. I keep plenty fit from surfing. So I just smile and tell them it ain't about the exercise, its about not being...

    Townie Bike Ride Video

Thx for the tip, Voltron. I've only just begun to explore the bike paths around here. Its not entirely legal for me to be on some bike paths, so I slow down to biped auxiliary power near pedestrians. No one has said anything to me, yet.

    Townie Bike Ride Video

I've been mostly lurking for about a year. The people on this board are amazing- So much knowledge and expertise. This is my second ebike. Its a Townie with a 500w geared motor from ebikekit and a 48V battery from Calibike. I commute 16 miles each way with this bike a couple times a...

    Ebikekit controller at 52V?

Thx for your response, Nobuo. I got a response from ebikekit this morning. They said the controller could handle it, but going so close to the rated maximum would make everything wear out faster. They also said they wouldn't provide a warranty in that situation, and I wouldn't blame them.

    Ebikekit controller at 52V?

Has anybody ever tried running the 36-48V ebikekit controller with a 52V battery? I popped open the cover and the capacitors appear to be rated at 63V. Those 52 volt packs from Lunacycle look tasty, and they are priced competitively. I don't need their really high-powered batteries, I'm...

The wheel-building spoke-lacing thread, post your tips

I thought I'd chime in and show how a former house framer builds his wheel building/truing stand. It's very primitive, built hastily, but it worked! To dish the wheel, I found center of rim on the hub, made a mark on the hub, and hung a makeshift plumb line through the valve hole until it...

    BMSBATTERY PROBLEMS???

I bought a 36v 10ah rear rack battery from them about a year ago. Shipping cost is high. Took 2 weeks to get the battery, but I did get it in good order. They sent me a charger with a 220v European style plug. After several emails back and forth, and photographs of the charger's innards...

    New to board want opinions

I want a lightweight battery 36v that won't burn my house down. I just want to plug it in and let it charge overnight. It doesn't need a lot of range but I do need some power to get up a gentle hill. I've thought of stuffing my case with 18650s ( room for 30) but by the time I pay for good...

    New to board want opinions

I saw an article of someone who used dewalt power tool batteries for their electric bike. I already have two 18-volt lithium makita battery packs for my drill. What if I connect them in series for 36v, and then connect them to my bike? I go less than 2 RT miles at a time, granted one...

    New to board want opinions

So, going back over the replies(Thank you, everyone, BTW),and summarizing, it looks like I have a brushed motor and will need to upgrade the controller to a 36v/15A if I go with a 36v battery.

Pic not very clear. Its a 24v controller rated at 15A.

    New to board want opinions

Hah! I had no idea this was there! Its a 2006 bike. It's a miracle the battery lasted as long as it did! 2 wires going to the hub- The pic shows the specs on the controller. Can I go to 36v or do I need to change out the controller? For trips 2 miles or less?

    New to board want opinions

Actually, there is only one wire going into the hub. Thats the way it has been since day one of my ownership. I've been perusing the ready made 36v packs and they are too big to fit where the old one went. Looks like the new battery, whichever one I get, will be going on the cargo rack...

I live in southern California. Yes the battery slides onto a plate below and behind the seat post. Here's pics of the contacts & battery case.
