Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

Went for a nice test ride, 12 miles in 45 minutes, mostly using throttle, and some pedaling to help it in places. i dont think it is quite right yet as according to the cycle analyst i am using a lot of power with less effect compared to the stock bbs02 25A controller. i have taken some photos...

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

i am using the 9 fet IRFB3077 Infineon Controller For Motors With Hall Sensors from EM3EV I Bought the 9 fet as an extra precaution so that it might be more forgiving. i am using a cycle analyst so i can program in some limits i will definitely look at making a video this week. if it is not...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

im not an expert but i guess both, although the bbs02 does have a temperature sensor mounted in to a little hole in the heatsink that the FETs are screwed to so in the case of these blown controllers it is mostly surges.

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

I tried all 36 potential combinations and the the three combinations that ran smooth, they all seem to draw about 60 watts while the chain is off. I have test rode 2 of the combinations and both are quite loud. I will try the third one tomorrow. Drew about 1300 watts at one point while riding...

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

Have played about with the different combinations of phase and hall wiring and found there are three combinations that work well forwards and three pointlessly in reverse. But yet to test drive it to see if it makes any difference using a different rotation to the first time. I don't think it...

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

Hi neptronix, Yes i will put on the definite wiring configuration later, i literally connected it up using a justified guess, and it worked first time, i chopped the small connector off of the original controller and used connector blocks to connect up the wires. i have not yet tried to do...

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

New Infineon controller has arrived! Initial tests connected to the bbs02 motor are positive. Figured out the hall sensors and tested it out in the garage and it seems to work. So tomorrow I shall finish wiring it properly and make more tests and figure out the temperature sensor if one exists...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

CONTROLLER DEAD AND FIXED AGAIN!!! I was out for a nice ride up in the North Yorkshire moors, when while pushing the bike as going up a hill I was using the throttle to help get the bike up the hill as I couldn't keep the walk mode button pressed as it was very bumpy. As I got to the top, I...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

Forgot to say, in relation to neptronix, I have done exactly that. Just ordered a new external controller and cycle analyst to modify my bbs02. I have started another thread which I will update when it arrives.

    BBS02 750W controller dead

Hi Gorndog, Yep, they are the right Fets. P75NF75 manufactured by ST microcontrollers. The throttle can put a lot more power through the FETS than the pedal assist the way it is pre programmed. I noticed a potential design problem on the controller board, which could be causing excess heat...

Some photos of my controller. I didn't take many photos. There are a few un used holes on the controller which look like they were for potential header plugs which werent used such as on the second photo.

    BBS02 750W controller dead

Hi, i went for a quick 9 mile spin round the local woods and it works perfect. i have some photos of the controller. The potting compound was really easy to take off, it is just like pealing silicone sealant off of something. it is very rubbery and came off very easy. i actually used a small...

Using a bbs02 motor with third party controller and CA

Hi, I recently burnt out my bbs02 48v 750w controller, and then succesfully repaired it and it is now working fine! Unfortunately now I haven't got an excuse to buy a new controller and cycle analyst! What I would like is full control with a cycle analyst on a bbs02. I know this has been...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

Succesfully repaired my blown controller. It was just clicking when pressing the throttle, or when turning the pedals, or when pressing and holding the walk assist. I removed the controller and removed all of the rubber around it. Then identified the faulty FETs and ordered the exact same ones...

    Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

Hi Guys, Sorry i made a massive mistake in my last post, i meant "Initial Current %", Not "Keep Current %" Ive ordered some new FETs which should arrive in the morning and will try soldering them in and see if that fixes my controller.

    BBS02 750W controller dead

i think it is the amount of current that when the throttle is first pressed, so having it set to 100% turns the throttle into an on off switch which is why mine fried. I have done some tests on the controller board, There is a short between the Blue phase wire and the Battery Positive. I will...

    Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

Anyone else any experience with "Keep Current%" ? I had it set to 100%, I think this is why my controller is broken. I think this may be when you first press the throttle, it is the minimum throttle level that is applied. if setting it to 1% it shuould give a good range of throttle, whereas...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

I've plugged into the computer using the programming software, and found that it was programmed with "initial current %" on the software showed 100%. From what I've read on the forum here it can create excessive current. Assuming this is what has happened and the fets are fried, I have ordered...

    BBS02 750W controller dead

Hi, Thanks for your reply. one of the first things i tried was disconnecting the brake cutoff cable thinking it may have become stuck on. then disconnected every connection and reconnected everything. the clicking noise stops when i press the brake lever and press the throttle so it sounds like...
