My "26 inch" fat tires are more like 29 + but some can be bigger again.

Finding a bike for the BBSHD

Oh, and if you need to find out the BB shell type you can sometimes find some info about the BB cartridge that you can google and find out the BB shell they fit. For instance, this bikes direct gravity monster I just found says this about its BB; Bottom Bracket VP-B63L CARTRIDGE 102.5MM/145MM A...

Finding a bike for the BBSHD

There seems to be some talking passed each other in this thread. The BBSxx motors are designed to fit into a BB shell that has an inner diameter that is the same as a standard threaded BSA (or JIS) type BB shell. Other BB shells may be used with adapters to take the inner diameter down to the...

    Norway's e-bike sales

Nah, it's because it's a bloody hilly country. ;) That and there's a big push to encourage people onto bikes (and ebikes) and out of their cars. As the Norwegian population is generally quite active they probably don't need much convincing. The government is all for expanding the bike...

    Define "Charge Cycle"

Maybe this is explained somewhere that I've not been able to find but can someone define what a charge cycle is? Is it every time you charge? Or is it from empty to full, or some % in between? If it's from empty to full, what does a partial charge count as then, a partial cycle? ;) In terms...

Which display do you prefer to use with BBSHD?

The new colour DPC-14 has 3 buttons too; +/-/power. I've also always liked the 961 as it's compact but I miss some battery info there. I also find that the button breakout on mine is not so easy to use in heavy winter gloves. There's no problem like that with the new one but the downside is...

Which display do you prefer to use with BBSHD?

I went to the new colour one (the dpc14 I think it's called) that Luna sells when I switched to the HD. I like it more than the 961 that I had previously. The new display has a lot more battery info but if you run it with a 52v battery it's not too accurate; it can show volts but it tops out at...

    Buying BBSHD kit USA

I'll add that Luna is so popular that many options are frequently sold out and you have to wait for stock - or order elsewhere (I didn't want to wait for my Lekkie chainring so I ordered one of them from em3ev - also highly recommended - to go with the BBSHD I got from Luna). IMO The color...

    Buying BBSHD kit USA

Lunacycle.com As far as I know, they have the best prices and kit options (chainring is, chargers, displays, batteries). The prices are so competitive that even some of us Europeans order from there.

    BBS01 turns off on load

I'm having a similar problem with my BBS02. I suspect my battery pack is on its way out - it's been charged almost every day for 16 months now. Seems fine when just off the charger but 6km later it occasionally powers off when I hit the throttle - power off/on and it's fine again. Using PAS I...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

Seems like I was wrong about this according to Luna - there is no 73mm specific version just a 68-73mm.

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

Does anyone actually buy a bike because it's got a specific BB - besides us electric motor nuts, that is? More often than not, trying to find out what BB a bike has is job in itself.

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

There's a 73mm version. The 68mm will fit but you have to leave the left side lock nut off the BB. The 73mm version fits both left side nuts. AFAIK, Lunacycle does the 73mm specific version - you need to say that you need the 73mm version in the comments on ordering the 68-73mm version.

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

6 flavours up to 120mm (68, 73, 92 100, 110, 120). BB type should be BSA/JIS - BB30 will work with an adaptor as will PF30 A list of compatible bike models and their manufacture year would be nice.

Where to get a decent battery in Norway???

My current 9Ah 48v "Dolphin Pack" with 25R cells is on its last legs I think so looking for a replacement. Ideally, looking for a local "Shark Pack" type battery pack with high energy power cells (25R or approaching that). I can find 48v Dolphin packs here but they state they have 29E cells...

    BBSHD Troubles

The chain I've used this past year was this 9 speed and it's going great; http://www.kmcchain.eu/chain-KMC_X9e_EPT-e_bike-9speed Not sure if they do an 8 speed version though.

    BBSHD Troubles

On a 750w BBS02 I went through the original cheap chain and cassette on my bike in a month - chain slip, chain drop. Swapped to a KMC ebike chain and a new cheap steel shimano cassette and I've not experienced chan slip or drop in 10 months now.

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

I'm surprised someone hasn't gone and offered it as an option - enough people seem to be concerned about "plastic", how difficult would it be to machine a metal gear or make a composite one?

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

Yes, I think the "nylon gear is an accident waiting to happen" argument is overused. If there were an appreciable number of failures, Bafang would change the material or suppliers would just stop selling the things as they'd lose money on all the returns, support and maintenance. Yes, it can...
