    $170 dollar spokes .....

1/8" diameter, huge nipples, custom cut stainless for a 20" cross once wheel. An extra nine spares for each side. I think these things were originally made for motorcycles. $170 from hiwheel.com. Ouch ... but done. I had to drill out both the hub and the Rhyno-lite rim to make this mess fit...

    Converted wife's KHS folder

Finished converting my wife's folder yesterday ... a KHS 6 speed. Used a stock c'lyte digital 36v-72v 35A controller, thumb throttle, cruise control, e-brakes, a CycleAnalyst stand-alone meter, and a clyte 408 rear. The current batt is a 48V8Ah SLA I cobbled up as a temp ... she has a large...

Pinout for c'lyte brushless power lead?

What is the pinout and wire colors for the clyte 3 wire power lead? I have a 408 with an old-style trailer connector that I need to convert to andersons.

Note to self, avoid cross 1 spokes on a 20"

Had a spoke go ping this AM ... and then lost another 5 within a half mile of work. Broke right at the nipples they did ... Apparently cross once, 20" wheels, and my fat ass do not mix. Will be moving to 12g radial this Friday ... back to cage commuting for a couple of days.

    Heinzmann back up and running

Got the motor from the Heinzmann that I bought from forum member recumbent swapped into the rear hub, and tested it on my bent. No problems or issues. Swapping the motors was straight-forward, sorta ... had to swap final drive gearsets, as well as the hubs to convert from front wheel to rear...

When it rains, it pours ....

Dropped 'clyte 405 while installing a new rim on it. When I tightened the spokes, I discovered I had cracked it ... the hard way, when It made a sound like a .22lr going off: Anyone have a use for this mess?

    Crystalyte Cruise Control

OK ... tried a c'lyte cruise control. Neat gadget. kinda cheaply built. The cover on mine needs some polystyrene cement already, just from mounting it. Handle bar mount, but it won't open wide ... you have to pull your handlebar grip, shifter, and brakes off to slide it on ... bad design there...

    Heinzmann disassembly

I am in the middle of disassembling my newly bought hub, with the intention of replacing the wimpy stock power wires with something a bit bigger. I have gotten stuck. My progress to date: I am at this point: I have removed the four screws, but it ain't budging. Getting it apart at this...

    Crystalyte 405 ... variable speed?

It's entirely possible that I just have a bad throttle ... or maybe was sent one not intended for this application. Which would result in me being convinced a 405 is a single speed hub, since I only had one speed. Are you using a Crystalyte hub? Could some other Cystalyte user confirm that I...

    Battery build pictures

I think I am done twisting around the duct tape pack I got fro Ping ... I thought I'd show the finished batt, and maybe start a picture post thread. I used an old 50 BMG ammo can ...and drilled some holes in it for the chassis mount XLR connector, the crystalyte keyed on-off switch, and a hole...

    First commute on my 'bent

Got through the first half of my first commute on my 'bent. I was doing a test run when I blew out the original BMS last month ... the new BMS is handling things well ... only needed a reset once when I tried an uphill start without pedaling. Only one stretch needed serious assistive pedaling...

    Shrink tubing?

Where can I get reasonably priced large diameter shrink tubing for battery packs? I can order 3M bus bar shrink tubes that fit for $30+ dollars a foot ... I was hoping someone would have a less spendy suggestion....

    A123 ..... must have more A123 ......

Got my load of dead DeWalts from DoctorBass today .... Dead rate for the cells was only 14% ( 7 out of 50 ) ... not bad for less than half price. 29 more to go for my 12c6p pack ....

Squeezing out range ... questions about voltage and amperage

I am currently using a clyte 405 and a 35a 36-72V controller. I'm using 48v SLA ... and should have five dewalt packs to disassemble today or tomorrow. I would like to bump my range up ... I really don't need to go all that fast. Would I be better off dropping to 36V? Or increasing Voltage...
