Which tyres to replace my hookworm 24 x 2.5's?

The Hookworm is back in production, at least that was the news a few months ago on the Unicyclist forum. I don't know what casing, or durometer is available, but a quick search showed the 24x2.5 in stock in a lot of places including Amazon.

Cycle Satiator Battery charger - Profile advice for battery

I had a similar problem, and it turned out that the female connections on the cheap XLR plug in my adapter were slightly oversized, and not connecting with the male end from the Satiator. I pushed a needle into the sockets to bend the sleeves in a little, and it works. I'll be replacing it...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I know what you are talking about (I think), and once it is tightened it shouldn't move around. The gear box on the right side has a very slight chamfer to eliminate a potential stress riser. This also causes the right side to center in the BB shell. As long as your BB shell has parallel...

Bottom Bracket Maintenance - Help Please

I agree as well. I would say though that while it's apart it would be a good idea to find out what spindle is inside for future reference. Also, that if any part is cracked or pitted I would swap the whole thing out for a cartridge. Currently available cups and spindles are of very poor...

Bafang BBS02 included brake levers have too much travel?

Okay, I completely missed the fact that your brake is a hybrid Mech/Hydro. This changes things. In your system the cable pull activates a compression piston in a master cylinder that in turn activates a cylinder that pushes a piston towards the rim. As long as you have the cable tight, and...

Bottom Bracket Maintenance - Help Please

Unfortunately there were a dozen or more different spindles used in bottom brackets like yours. So, the easiest way to know which replacement you need is to pull the spindle out of the BB, and look for a code like "3r," or "3s." Once you have that code it's easy to figure out what modern BB...

Bafang BBS02 included brake levers have too much travel?

This is the weird thing. My Bafang kit came with long pull levers that work fine with my Avid BB7 calipers. I wasn't aware that they made a short pull lever for the BBS0- kits. Still I think the Travel Agent will fix your problem without looking like a bodged up lever. you can get an inline...

Bafang BBS02 included brake levers have too much travel?

Agreed. I had it backwards. It's like you have a short pull lever matched to a long travel caliper. So, the "Travel Agent" will fix it, or installing a sensor in a suitable lever like your original lever, or an Speed Dial 7 (with adjustable pull)

Bafang BBS02 included brake levers have too much travel?

It sounds like you are trying to match a long pull lever made for V brakes with a road disc caliper made for a short pull road brake lever. So you have some options. First you could try to find a short pull lever with the brake cutoff. Second you could get a Problem Solvers "Travel Agent"...

Bottom Bracket Maintenance - Help Please

Yes you have square taper cranks. The piece with the flats is the adjustable cup, and you can use a large (12") adjustable wrench on it. A smaller wrench will work too, but it can be hard to engage both sides of the cup past the spindle. A crank puller, or extractor, is the tool of choice...

    BBS02 48v .. with 36v battery, possible?

I believe the 500w/36v BBS02 is the dame motor with a different controller. So, if you replace your controller with the 36v version it should work with your battery.

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

What is the serial number? The first two digits are the year, second two digits are the month, and third two are the day. The last four are the piece number (not sure if that is per day, per month, or something else).

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

As far as I know (just enough to get me into trouble in most cases), you do need to be aware of grease incompatiblity problems. When I installed my kit I saw what looked like Moly greeas in the final drive gear (near the freewheel), and what I think is Polyurea grease in the bottom bracket...

    Tensioning a final drive train

For pedalpower it is generally considered 1/2" of play. This is 1/4" up and down. The Rohloff manual says 10mm's of play, 5mm's up and down. Crossbeaks suggestion about being tight enough to not lose the chain is spot on. Keep in mind that this is for the tightest spot in your drivetrain...

    NUVINCI N360 Drivetrain

The N360 uses standard shimano splined cogs. Surly makes nice ones, but any singlespeed cassette cog would do the trick. Just don't use cogs made for a multispeed cassette because they are made to shift the chain which you don't really want.

Bafang BBS02 on a BikeE RX recumbent

It's great to see that it's all working! Too bad about the pedals falling off, not that it wasn't predicted  I think you may need something a bit stronger than blue loctite if you want to keep the existing cranks. Probably the Red (permanent) version. The mechanical precession that...

how low can you go? safe minimum voltage

I believe the 48v bbs02 has a low voltage cutoff of 41v. Your battery BMS may have a different cutoff, and so your system should cutoff when the higher of the two is reached. This is all from reading here on ES, so no personal experience (yet). I'm waiting for a bbs02 kit at the moment.

Bafang BBS02 on a BikeE RX recumbent

That cartridge "may" work. The important dimension will be if the left side is long enough to match the Bafang left side. The problem with a cartridge is that it only goes in one way, you can't flip it around to get the longer extension on the left. With a bare spindle in a Cup/Cone bottom...

    Bafang BBS0x Installation Advice?

Yes, I only keep the blue 242 in my shop, so I was vague. I wasn't aware that it is considered "medium". In my experience it is the lightest thread lock in the loctite range. To be fair the only other ones i have used are green "wick in - 290," and the red "permanent -270." The green runs...

Advice before getting BBS02, Sustainability of the drive

I just remembered that i have some Shimano XT M739 cranks with a removable spider. Those would work, and they look good too. I guess any square taper crank that has a removable spider should work.

Advice before getting BBS02, Sustainability of the drive

From what i've learned it looks like the bearings for the BB are available, there is one that is speacial, and needs to be sourced from a Bafang distributor. You can get chainring adapters (a.k.a. "Spider"), and then mount any chainring you want as long as there is clearance. For crank arms...

    Bafang BBS0x Installation Advice?

That's a good point about the chainring size since the chainline is essentially in the middle ring position for a standard triple crankset. I would guess that there are a lot of frames that would top out around 48t. Since the bearings inside the BB are open, and it apears that they have very...
