19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

For what it's worth, I've been running a 26" bicycle rim with a hookworm for 4-5 years , same tyre , no punctures , all off-road with 8-10kw. No slipping on the rim, I run low pressure to keep traction and smooth out the bumps. Even in wet weather it's solid, hookworms have proven for me that...

Does Elon Lurk these forums ?

I can't help but think Elons the sorta guy that occasionally on a Sunday would have a quick read on endless :) just a sneak between flights or by the pool :) or maybe if this around during his early tesla days :)

Can I convert the new vector lite to a middrive ?

I can't break this little powervelocity controller :) I pushed 220 phase with 100amps at 98v :) over and over, this little thing just won't die :) its actually a great match for the 3k mxus. No issues with the vector lite in the 8 to 10 kw range too. The hookworm is great at this power too...

    Sur-ron Adaptto

Sur-ron have placed these bikes right at the entry point of electric motocross. From all the videos I've seen they are too slow and powerless for me, 14kw bikes kinda do that to you. however the frame and mid drive for me is a winner. Ill never buy a sur-ron myself unless they change the...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

So impressed with what a simple fan mod has done, I moved to a smaller fan and got the same/ similar results and reduced weight so slightly :) I also found running the fan all the time gave the best results, rather than when things get stinking hot, eg 70c up. Be great to see some results...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

I'm sill amazed to this day that mxus etc don't make a from factory heatsinked hub! With a researched design for capturing maximum airflow. Makes me think most hubs are built for the China market? I'm going to look at heat sinking the side covers, however just my simple mod has almost cured...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

Yep took all of half hour to setup, lightweight fan, will be interesting to see how it puts up with dirt etc. thinking maybe the smallest ever raidiator fan could work, maybe a motorbike one if they make them, dust and weather proof. I've also had thoughts of a 3D printed shroud that's...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

To my surprise this worked out quiet well on today's hill climbs , the vector is now active cooled :) I was able to climb far beyond my normal overheat locations on just ATF and hub sinks alone. I did manage to peak out at 110c on one section after pushing really hard, but the cool down period...

Can I convert the new vector lite to a middrive ?

Yeh I had the shock the other way round but couldn't access the air nozzle. But I'll have to turn it back round so it dampens properly. Side panels could be sealed with some silicone. Yeh I could have been to blame for the bolt turning, I used a drill to tighten, I do them all by hand now.

Can I convert the new vector lite to a middrive ?

Lateral regidity is fairly poor, as it's mostly dependant on the play in the suspension, I thighted things up and tried to make things as snug as I could and managed ok rigidity. No problem for a light build. I didn't notice it will riding even @ 6w

Cyclist spits at me and makes a buzzing noise !

I'll never mention the word "peloton", its a match in hay stack. I'd like to think I create the leading edge for the peloton :) yeh must be the hotter weather setting them off, those strava times are getting harder to set as the heat rolls in. Mate at work wants me to yell out strava as I pass...

Cyclist spits at me and makes a buzzing noise !

I hear you in the distance and speed side of things. I always slowdown down and give plent of room, why? cause some prick on an ebike scared the shit out of me when I was riding :) so I know what it feels like. Ive actually yelled out before at other Ebikes's when they have sped past way to...

Can I convert the new vector lite to a middrive ?

Hey thanks, yeh front is 26 as well, it's a thicker rim so it looks smaller. Peak at the moment is 6.5kw with nice torque @ 220 phase. Plan to up it to 9Kw - 10kw. couple of things I don't like with this frame are the battery cover bolts are prone to turning, I had to cut one bolt to open the...

Cyclist spits at me and makes a buzzing noise !

He was actually going past the other way, so he only had moments to recognise the bike, spit and then make the noise. I suspect it may be the same guy from a year back who was in a group at the time, again going the other way. I'm on a different bike now. I'm on a quiet mid drive and used to...

Can I convert the new vector lite to a middrive ?

I ended up going hub. Hubs are easy :(

Cyclist spits at me and makes a buzzing noise !

Well I've had the eyes up and down and the nose up turns as an ebike rider, but today's spit and mimic noise of an electric motor certainly raised my eye brows. I didn't know there guys out there that upset. Minding my business on my daily commute along the bike path here in sunny Brisbane...

Schwinn 4/6 bangers dropouts hold 10kw

I had some dodgy ones that would essentially only be used if the main dropouts failed, they were hand made ones with a wider gap. They never saw any use. most likely would have snapped the axle if one drop out failed and then used the backup drop out. They had no sign of use or imprint from...

Schwinn 4/6 bangers dropouts hold 10kw

So after three years of 10kw and some serious phase amps my Schwinn 4 banger is being retired. If you find one of these rare bikes be assured they will take 10kw. I spent many many hours unleashing on these dropouts with regen. You can see some indents where it was pushing. But I'm dam...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

I run a 3k mxus with hubsinks and trans oil. it gets me most places. The long up hill rides in the 3 to 6kw cause me at least one or two scenery stops. Im actually looking at installing heatsinks on the side of the hub, i have some low profile ex chipset sinks that im going to look at...

    Most travelled BBSHD ?

Yeh I'm running mixed speeds and mostly 500w with a few 1500w hills. Was the grease change hard ? Seen a few vids looks fairly straight forward.

nose dive, im guessing 4000k will be service time.

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

What a great setup. 500w on a road bike would be perfect for commuting. I love the stealth look. I just started using a BBSHD for commuting, it's great I can keep up with the fast moving road bikes and get to work without too much of a sweat. However I like the look of the Kepler more , only...

    Most travelled BBSHD ?

Who's got some serious KM/ miles on their BBSHD ? I'm averaging 600km a month, is 7000km possible without a rebuild ? I take it compared to hub motors, these are higher maintenance. Also how long before greasing is needed ? I'm hoping 3500kms at least.

Limiting power down to legal levels

dont get me started on how pathetic 250w is ! If I had to commute on 250w I'd just buy a road bike and ride that, f>}^#k electric. Australias laws are so overly dramatic for electric bikes. It's like they grabbed the oldest lady politician they could find and popped her on a nanny bike and she...
