LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

That a great tip. I would eventually love to have a loaner bike set up that way. I think I would have a hard time getting used to a thumb throttle. Swtching back and forth from the motocross gasser to the ebikes. I also flip my brakes, so the front is on the right..muscle memory

Thanks Miles. That would have taken me all day to figure out.

LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

g48hZ-892RM First time doing a video, so not sure it will work. It's fun to see friends try ebikes for the first time. Most underestimate the touque and power...no matter how much pre-ride training you do. My LMX is done. I am planning on doing a build thread one of these days.

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

That's great advise. I realize i am exceeding the max voltage, and it is a risk. But it seems to handle it relatively well. My CAv3 setting limit the amp to 100. It feel like plenty of power my for current usage. By using 30q, I can technically get 120amp from the battery pack (15amp x...

The esc that blew was a castle creations 120. I was using a luna cycle 25r pack 14s8p. I have now switched the esc to a to a talon120...much better with heat/surface area and was able to heat sink it to the custom mounting bracket (thanks Dave!). I also built a custom battery pack with 30q...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

I have hit 65kph. I am currently not geared for speed...i only use the road for short rides to the trails. I am sure the 3220 is capable of much more. This is the part I am struggling with. I have had to push the bike home several times. The Tangent kit has not failed me at all, it's...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

Thanks guys for all of the tips and feedback. I went ahead and ordered one each of these; http://www.amazon.com/MRP-System-LRP-Replacement-Roller/dp/B003IRNOVY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464528900&sr=8-1&keywords=mrp+roller...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

I think my failure is due to the increased rpm of a 20:1...as well as the connex link That creates a slight bump as it passes the roller. I'm a fan of a solid roller solution. Ideally I will find a way to put the red DMR on a lathe and grid off the inside lip to allow the chain to align...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

Dave, I think that's the one. It looks like it will hold the chain closer to the bracket. The red one is great, but I am not happy that the chain alignment is a bit off.

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

My chain tension-er failed on my second ride. Likely due to the 3220 motor and the high rpm 20:1. It spins the chain quite a bit faster than my old setup. I'm experiment with alternatives. Currently I am using a derailleur wheel. So far so good but it doesn't inspire much confidence. Next...

Now with the 3220. Definitely a cleaner sound. Mic next to throttle. https://youtu.be/qduH-fYosDg

I've tried to ignore you, but you keep coming back. I've seen some heavy ebike kits (both mid drive and hub drive) installed on some very questionable frames here on the forum.... So it seems strange to me that you would obsessively warn me about one of the lightest mid-drives on the market...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

Thanks for the comments Macribs. One of these days I will take some video. The ESC is just a newer castle creations, similar to the hv Dave uses. They only make a 120amp max version of the Talon, but it looks like it dissipates heat better. All the programing is done in the CA. Email Dave...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

Update to the ride. Frame is now a v10. 3220 motor. 20:1 reduction drive. Talon controller. I took my first real ride today..Initial thoughts; -the most quiet setup to date, even more than the 20:1 with 3215 combo...likely since I'm running at lower motor rpm. -increased torque. This...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

I'm changing the title to my build. The niner will end up going to my brother...the kit will be upgraded and go on my freshly built v10. -Astro 3220 -Talon HV120 -New battery pack 14s 8p Samsung 30q with dual BMS. 100amp continuous 160amp peak. Still on the wish list.... -XTR Di2 electric...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

I'm running a 120hv without issues, so I doubt you will have a problem with the hv160. I acquired (cheap) the new talon hv120...according to the rc community it runs cooler and also has a plug&play fan option. Now I got to talk Dave into making me yet another bracket set for the v10/talon/3220...

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

Took the 20:1 reduction unit on it's first ride today. I don't have the gearing dialed in perfect yet, but here are my first impressions. -10-20% more usable power. -less shifting of gears. There were big portions of the ride where stayed in one gear. -20-30% reduction in noise. Plus a...

    ADEN-Sports, Power Kit Race (Review+Pictures)

I sure will. Just took it on it's first ride today. A lot to still dial in, especially getting the controller (adaptto to run smoothly). Also using a 52v pack from another project till I can build a proper pack at 72v. So far it's tons of fun!

Good point....guess it would hurt to throw the rest in there for 10cc total. It is one big motor.

    Tangent Build...V10...Astro 3220

So far so good. Bike is on the rack now waiting on some upgrades: -203mm rotors front and back -13t for the cassette. converting 40t-15t 9speed to 40t-13t 10 speed. - 38t narrow/wide for the crank In the next week or two, I should get the 20:1 reduction unit as well and play with the gearing...
