    Ok, thanks for explaining.

jonescg's NEW electric racebike BUILD thread!

Looking at the last picture - the chain is nearly touching the tire. Won't it rub when cornering and tire deforms?

Paralleling packs with a protection diode?

You have to take into account the power dissipation of those diodes: multiply diode voltage drop (usually between 0,5-1V) with current draw from your packs; so you may get somewhere around 5-20W of heat. Unless the diode has a heat sink and adequate air flow to it, I wouldn't recommend.

    Looking for a strong headlight

Two expensive but very good lights: Supernova M99 Pro (449€) https://supernova-lights.com/en/products/e-bike-lights-45-kmh/m99-pro/ Daytime running lights, low beam/high beam 24-60VDC (75V max), so you might need DC-DC converter if pack voltage is too high. From my own experience, it's better...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

From pictures it seems the new kit doesn't have second bracket connecting rear of the motor to BB. So IMHO they made it worse. PS. That poor sprocket engagement will only become issue on the "walk of shame" scenario

Portable snow tank for towing skiers

Cyclone 2-6kW is peak power. With some modification and depending on cooling, you might get up to 8kW peak from these. QS 3K mid... Folks here have pushed beyond 20kW and still haven't overheated it. So far haven't heard any cooked motor.

Portable snow tank for towing skiers

VESC should be capable of either with custom app or external controller. Custom app running on VESC CPU('s), keeping both RPM's equal, except when steering. Input through ADC or PPM/UART/CAN. Or VESC constantly reporting to master controller RPM/Amps/etc, which then controls VESC's. Comms...

Portable snow tank for towing skiers

Motor hall sensors give feedback to motor controller (vesc) for timing. Not (servo-like) position you need for your master controller, which has to keep the speed exactly equal. Cyclone motor-specific problem due to it's rotor design, there can be hall signal noise in-between proper hall pulses...

Portable snow tank for towing skiers

With PWM you'd need some kind of feedback of the actual RPM or you need to correct your steering constantly to compensate one motor going faster than the other.

Portable snow tank for towing skiers

With QS-mid you'll need reduction, possibly two stages (unless you mean the one with internal 1:2,35 reduction) to get the rpm down, unless you want to go really-really fast. IMHO two Cyclone 3k/4k motors with it's internal reduction of 1:6 would be enough but not sure about pairing those...

QSMOTOR,0.5-12kW Electric Hub Motor & Mid Drive Motor Manufacture China

Your engineers could simplify the 3D model (no need to show internals) and export it as STL file. I'm guessing the 3D model would only be needed to design mountings and other related items on e-vehicle, so only external dimensions matter. You do have 2D drawings (but one has to be very...

    MY1020 Oil or Water Cooled

Would be interesting to see some real data: No load current (at full rpm) with and without oil - to understand how much drag the coolant will introduce. Motor temp with and without coolant.

    MY1020 Oil or Water Cooled

Use thermal potting compound (I'd suggest polyurethane) to pot the stator windings. Secondly, use temperature sensor and a controller that either dials back power or cuts it when reatching upper temp. limit.

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

That connector should be rated to 60A max if I recall correctly. Thicker phase wires should help as well, but then soldering the connector on will be PITA. I used the same type of connector (before I upgraded to nucular) with powervelocity controller at 65/130A but with upgraded phase wires. Had...

    Cyclone 3kW ===> 5kW????

What would be the point (unless it's thermally conductive silicone)? The idea of casting lower viscosity than gel/paste is to get good bonding between materials in order to effectively transfer heat from winding to outer case. Both, good bonding and good thermal conductivity are important in...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Since carrier (the piece that holds planetary gears) is output, as you posted there are two ways to calculate gearing: a: 1 + "sun ring teeth #" / "sun gear teeth #" 1 + 55/11 = 6 b: ("sun ring teeth #" + "sun gear teeth #") / "sun gear teeth #" (55+11)/11=6

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Cyclone 3k planetary is 6:1 unless they have changed/redesigned it completely. I couldn't find any info about it on their website. PS: From experience, I don't agree with your claims about q-factor and loss of efficiency.

Best 135mm hub motor for 48v to 72v ? 3kturbo MXUS OR LEAF

With 7-spd freewheel it needed a bit stretching (and I cant use smallest cog - chain will hit the arm). With 1-speed, should be no problem.
