TSDZ2 mid drive with 860C, 850C or SW102 displays only -- Flexible OpenSource firmware (Casainho code only)

You don’t set continuous, only peak. Mine is set to 18A. It depends on what gear and assist level you are in. If I hold down the throttle in first gear on a 7 or 8% hill, it will max out the cadence at about 6.5 MPH and consume about 350-400 Watts, which is roughly 8 amps. If I set the assist...

TSDZ2 mid drive with 860C, 850C or SW102 displays only -- Flexible OpenSource firmware (Casainho code only)

Continuous or peak? I’ve been using mine in the 48V high-cadence mode with current ramp-up set as high as the max 10.0 (currently at 8.8 ) and full 18A with a 52V battery. I haven’t had any problems and I use the throttle a lot, although I usually pedal along and try not to set too high a gear...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I am eyeing this motor for my new SomaFab Tradesman build, and have some questions: 1. Is there a way to run the TSDZ2 without any display connected? I am going for a clean look and want to avoid both the extra wires and attractiveness to thieves. 2. Can it be easily run with an external...

    Coaster Cycles Transit trike?

That looks fascinating Chalo, and almost exactly what I was thinking for the application. I'm not married to the Coaster Cycles model, that just happens to be the one that Ford GoBike uses around here so I've seen it in action. Which pedicab model have your clients had the best success with...

    Coaster Cycles Transit trike?

Thanks amberwolf, you're a human encyclopedia as always! It doesn't seem like this vehicle will work for what I needed, but I'll come up with more (and crazier) ideas in the future, I'm sure!

    Coaster Cycles Transit trike?

Has anyone tried to electrify a trike from Coaster Cycles or a similar model? https://www.coastercycles.com/cargo-trike/ From the pictures, it looks like a pair of rear hubs would not work due to the hub attaching directly to the cargo platform, and I am not sure about a mid-drive. Front-wheel...

Kepler Bottom Bracket Friction Drive For Sale (Finally)

I have been dreaming up a concept that might be a perfect fit for this Kepler drive. I would like to try building a "boost bike" that rarely needs to be charged. It would not provide any assist at speeds greater than ~5 MPH, but rather its only function is to help with starts and hills. The...

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Just a quick review of the Phaserunner: I had mine up and running quickly with my eZee 250 rpm with blown hall sensors. It configured a lot more quickly than I expected, and the 36V battery now tops out at about 26 MPH with up to 9 amps field weakening, which is a bit higher than I was expecting...

    Sensored or sensorless controllers?

Do you know if the Phaserunner can also start from zero in SL mode? I was planning on picking one up soon for my eZee 250r with fried Halls. The current SL Infineon sputters until about 10 MPH

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

Great, thank you for the feedback! I'm still leaning towards the DD, but the wind might be blowing the other way tomorrow. :)

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

I could still be talked into it, but it just seems like a big DD on a small wheel can accomplish the same thing with fewer headaches. When you use the throttle with a BBSHD, does it spin the cranks or can you leave your feet stationary?

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

Right now I'm leaning back towards the Supermarche with the Crystalyte HT3525. I found out today that we have a bunch of DOT 16" moped tires so I'm hoping there is enough clearance to put one of those on the back. That should make it the equal of most 26" rear wheels for bumps and potholes...

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

The Workcycles Kr8 is looking pretty nice, and not as pricey as the Urban Arrow. The rear carrier should hold one of our toolboxes without modification, and the cargo platform looks like it could hold at least as much as the Bullitt. It supports rim brakes, so if I use disc brakes that should...

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

Thanks for the recommendations! I will look for a model that has a 26" rear wheel with a lower step frame and supports wider tires than the Bullitt. A suspension seat-post wouldn't hurt, either. The front tire doesn't need as much TLC because of the long wheelbase. Even with a skinny 20" wheel...

    Thanks, I'll try that!

Yuba Supermarche or similar build for quick acceleration with heavy loads

I posted back in February to get input on a setup for hauling heavy items. I'm still brainstorming the idea, but today I was able to borrow a Bullitt with the Shimano STEPS mid-drive to test it out. Basically I'm looking for a cargo bike that can deliver small but heavy items (think ~200 lbs of...

    JST 2 pins into 1?

I am trying to wire my front and rear lights into the VF of a CA v3, and I currently have it temporarily connected with twist-on wire connectors, with the 2 positive and negative wires of the lights making contact with the single wires coming from the CA (I cut the DC plug off). Now that I...

Fat tires for class 3+ urban utility bikes?

Super Moto-X tires sound like a great upgrade, and my quick visual inspection shows that there should be plenty of room in the frame and fork for bigger tires. I've already decided that this bike project is never going to be finished, so why not add new rims with tires and a total motor and hub...

Fat tires for class 3+ urban utility bikes?

I've been researching fat bikes lately, but all of the writing about them has been in the context of mountain biking and snow riding. I am more interested in them for Class 3 urban riding, but have not been able to find much info about this type of bike. My current bike was a busted eZee Sprint...

    USB powered tail light

I bought one from Lunacycle that can run off any voltage from 12-60 V. I wired it directly from the ignition switch (which comes straight off the 36V battery) with no need to step down the volts. It looks like they don't sell that one anymore, but I'm sure you can find similar ones on eBay or...

Better passenger solution A.K.A. save my marriage

https://www.dropbox.com/s/eavsadthb5rqswc/IMG_1291.JPG?dl=0 This is my bike with the Companion bike seat, which is rated up to 200 lbs. Despite my obsession with e-bikes, I am inexplicably single, so I mostly use it to store small items in the locking compartment and secure heavy items on top...

    City bike with Xiongda 2-speed

Love it! Did you install the 2-speed selector switch or do you just leave it locked into the low hill-climbing gear?

My ebike commute starts next week finally!

Be careful mixing it up in the car lanes. In my experience drivers assume you are going to be in their way and when you keep up with the flow of traffic it doesn’t affect their preexisting decision to pass you, no matter how recklessly they have to drive to do so. I once had a truck pass me...

EM3EV frame bag for carrying non-battery cargo?

I'm curious about using the empty space in the triangle frame to gain some extra cargo capacity. My bike has its battery mounted behind the seat post so I'm looking at frame bags for the purpose of carrying groceries and other items, not batteries. I have seen good reviews of the Surly mountain...

Heavy cargo and steep hills: Will my plan result in injury and carnage?

Thanks for all the great feedback! I don't think there's another place to come for advice on such a niche application. I'm currently thinking that the best bet might be a 32A Bikes at Work trailer with a utility box screwed onto it. There seem to be a variety of such boxes made for pickup trucks...
