    Seeking advice on e-bike selection

With your budget, I'd spring for the BBSHD, you won't regret it. You seem smart and capable enough to build the bike yourself, and more importantly maintain it - you'll save a ton of money here. Save $200 for new brakes. My new brakes saved me from hitting two deer that crossed in front of me...

    DPC-18 Upgrade

Just learned from another thread, that setting the DPC-14 to not automatically shut off will allow proper time for the internal battery to charge and will then properly maintain time. It sounds legit to me, so I'm going to give it a go tonight!

    DPC-18 Upgrade

I think the lock is only on the display and not the controller. I'm curious to know if there's a way to alter the odometer so it'll reflect the miles I rode with the old display. I've googled it a few times, but didn't come up with anything.

That's fantastic! Still unsure about upgrading, but that definitely helps.

Any update on wether the clock keeps time? Thanks!

    DPC-18 Upgrade

Anyone planning to upgrade to the DPC-18? It has a couple of nice features over the 14 model, but I'm not sure it's worth $90. Apparently, it's pretty new, so I can't find too many reviews yet. Here are some of the features from the Luna site: Full Color Display Automatic Night Mode (with...

    laymans language

I think the answer you're looking for is the assist level is how much the bike "helps" you, and the power level is how much power you're actually using at any given time. For example, you might be riding in assist level 4 where the motor is allowed to use up to 70% of the max power, but when...

    Commuter suggestion BBSHD vs MAC

You're right, I should have said top speed was 37 on my bike. My comment was misleading, and for that I apologize. I was mostly just refuting YMD saying the top speed of the BBSHD was 28. I should not have given the impression that my bike averages those speeds. Carry on!

I'm confused with why there's a clock feature if there's no backup battery...

    DPC-14 Display Losing Time

Hey, does anyone else have trouble with the Bafang DPC-14 color display losing time? I keep it plugged in constantly, even when charging. What's weird is, the date is always right, but the clock goes haywire. Thanks, all!

    Lost BBSHD Crank arm bolt-Alternatives

When my left crank arm fell off, I re-tightened and applied loc-tight, and it came loose again. It never really felt like it went on as far as it should. After closer inspection, I noticed it wasn't tapered correctly. I purchased a new (easy to find) left crank arm at the LBS with a proper...

    Commuter suggestion BBSHD vs MAC

Very true, and good advice. Thanks for clarifying!

    Commuter suggestion BBSHD vs MAC

Just to clarify my BBSHD will easily do 37mph. I haven't had it faster then that, but I suspect it'll do 40. Nothing against the Mac, just wanted to iterate that the BBSHD can be faster than 28.

    SLC-8116LD Charger from Em3ev

Thanks! That's what I thought, but just wanted to verify (I'm a read-the-manual kinda guy).

    SLC-8116LD Charger from Em3ev

So, I ordered a 50v large triangle pack from Paul at Em3ev and the 5amp charger with 90/100% switch. It's described as aluminum on the website, but the model I received is plastic. It has one switch on it that reads "L/H." I'm assuming that L is 90% and H is 100%? No documentation was included...

    Giant Sedona BBSHD Conversion

Got the conversion done no problem! The bike is quick with plenty of power. Rode around 18 miles today before the left crank arm came loose. Was able to tighten it enough to complete the ride. Looks like the cheapo bafang crank arms aren't going to cut it for me. I must have not got the bottom...

    Giant Sedona BBSHD Conversion

Thanks for the advice! The kit is already on the way, so I'll have to try the 46T chainring for now, but I might try a smaller one in the future. I went with the larger one so that I could "help" pedal as I still hope to get some exercise.

    Giant Sedona BBSHD Conversion

Ok, I've decided to convert a circa 2007 Giant Sedona comfort bike to electric. After reading a TON here on the forums, I finally decided to go with the BBSHD. The Bike (Scored for Free): 2007ish Giant Sedona, 24 speed, front shocks, disc brakes, aluminum frame, seat post shock (I think)...

    Road Bike or Comfort Bike?

Hey everybody, I'm new to the forums and have a few questions. I've read quite a bit so far, but I'm just not sure what to purchase since I've new to ebikes. I have two bikes I'm considering converting: The first is my Specialized Allez which I've turned into my commuter. It's light weight...
