Another EEB build with a few twists.

It is one of the clones for Harley. It was the Wisamic 5 3/4" daymaker projector headlight. That picture is low beam. High beam adds a center beam projection just above that line. I need to figure out brake switches so I can add the integrated rear light soon.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

I have been riding a lot lately while looking for a new job. It looks like I am going to be moving to Michigan to work as a project engineer on hybrid and electric platforms, so I am quite excited. Here are a couple newer pictures of the bike. I added the 5.75" bucket headlight, and a Delta...

What is the voltage sag on your ebike?

I think it would be beneficial to talk about sag in terms of volts per cell instead of overall sag. 6 volts of sag on a 48v battery is not the same as on a 100 volt battery. At 90 amps I was seeing about .22-3Vpc sag on my 21s12p pack using LG HG2 cells. I need to look at it more closely, but I...

Another EEB build with a few twists.

Ohbse: It sounds like you have a good deal of experience with the material. If there is enough interest, that sounds like a good idea.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

I guess we will see. I can't wait to expand my tooling. This was my first real experience with HDPE. I have been watching for engineering work out in NZ. It seems like a great place to live. I have a few different transmission line enclosures (speaker enclosures) I have designed, and I am now...

Another EEB build with a few twists.

Interesting, I may just make the cad file for fun, I doubt there would be enough interest to make it something I want to batch produce. We will see when I have some time. With sheet optimization, and a router table, it may be efficient to make these with small overhead. By hand it is definitely...

Another EEB build with a few twists.

I made a template out of mdf, and used that to cut out the HDPE. I bought a 4'x4' sheet, ripped that in half, and then cross cut that with a circular saw. You can get 6 pieces out of a 4x4 half sheet of material. I was going to use my hand router, but I couldn't find the right bit locally so I...

Another EEB build with a few twists.

I am still waiting the foot pegs, but I went ahead and ordered mirrors, 5.75" led projector headlight, more switches and some basic integrated taillights. Also got a horn to install. It will probably be a month as I am waiting on this 144v-12v dc buck converter to install the auxiliary power. It...

ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

I haven't read into it too far, but the capacity for display is there, just no off shelf solutions. I would really like to hear what you think of the BAC4000 and 8000. I will most likely be buying a 4000 in the near future.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

100% positive it is not aluminum. I could tell by the weight, the welds, the feel, and It is magnetic. Cover panels are ABS, and the 3/4" body spacers I made are HDPE on either side of the frame.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

The frame itself is steel not aluminum. I may modify the torque plates before adding more power. I built both wheel sets myself. They are using Holmes Hobbies nipples, 12awg leader spokes, stainless steel washers flaired conical, and some manual machine work.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

So I have some foot pegs, mirrors, a 5.75" headlight, and brake lights coming in this week. I accidentially broke my front brake lever when moving the bike, so that is coming in as well. I was going to machine custom footpegs, but I have found a set that will work for now until I get some time...

    Wire Type

The silicon shielded high strand count wire is nice to use. I went with 6awg for both phase wiring and battery personally. I plan to likely end up pulling around 150 amps so that seemed fairly reasonable and 4awg was too big. I see a lot of 12g wiring and questionable connections and bus bars...

Suggestion to make my Ebike look nicer?

Use something like aluminum, HDPE, or Lexan for the enclosure and take your time on it. Work on some cable management. I still have a bit of rewiring myself to clean up on the handlebars. If you have crimpers and more pins, or just cut and solder, you could shorten any wires the the minimum...

ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

Ohbse: I just saw that the do have the bigger drives listed now. I may order one, but I definitely would not order their evaluation kit this time. I already made all my harnesses and programmer, and the only thing I would really need from them is that I want to see a full list of how the xml...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

minde28383 What tires and size are those? I have the shinko 244 right now, but would like to try some street tires too.

Another EEB build with a few twists.

I just finished my bike. I have done a bit of riding, so I thought I would share a few pictures. The bike is the EEB frame widened by 1.5" it has fox dh40 fork, cain creek rear monoshock, 19" motocycle wheels laced two cross in the front and one in the rear. 21s12p LG HG2 battery pack...

ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

With ferrofluid, temperatures don't seem to pass 85c. With 30amps flux weakening (it says amps in phaserunner software, and percent in Bacdoor) It easily hits 55mph. I might take an analog meter and check the resistance of the current shunt myself to see if the current readings are correct. I'm...

ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

I just got my setup running 21s powering a crown 4080 motor. the programmer is simple. All you need to do is correctly wire the TX/RX/GND from the plug to a FTDI chip. I did have issues with the voltage settings. I started on a partial charge and found that I had to set the system voltage to 72v...

    Watercooled drives/speed controllers.

So I have been fairly busy trying to get the bike up and running. It turned out there was no good way to fit both the BMS and drive into the case cleanly even after I widened the body by 1.5" to make more battery and padding space. I have my drive on the underside of the frame for now behind the...

    Tool battery for extra range

I have used the Dewalt 20v max 10 cell packs (5s2p). I know cell balancing and HVC are done in the charger. I could not say about LVC. I haven't needed to rebuild one yet. It does have a three led voltage indication on the back of the pack, but I would assume that low pack voltage at the speed...

    Tool battery for extra range

So those packs are 20 cell packs in 10s2p configuration. I would consider what actual 18650s would cost you, and what current you can expect to get out of those 2p packs before making a purchase. the DCB407 is $289.00 on amazon prime, I just ordered a bunch of batteries and I could do almost...

    BMS/CA (Cycle Analyst)

So it is important to note, that the BMS is monitoring for individual series branch low voltage per cell set-points. The CA is monitoring pack voltage. You could easily pass the low voltage set-point on a set of cells and not trigger the CA. That would be less of a concern on a lower voltage...

    Component Identity Bestech D575-26S-LiFePO4 BMS

I would need to look at it more to figure out myself. I have the HCX-D575 coming in the mail as well, so I will try to take a look at it if I have time when it shows up. What do you think of that BMS overall? What part of the board is that?

    Watercooled drives/speed controllers.

When I get to mounting the radiator and cooling jackets, I will share some pictures if anyone is interested. Right now I am busy getting the battery ready, and I just realized that I need to wire a proper outlet at the box outside this house to get rid of the crazy voltage sag on the branch...
