How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod

Talking about stock controller and 52V battery. Since hammering the throttle on a 17% hill with gear that low results in wheelies then then the peak load on the nylon gear resulting in damage might be reduced since it does slightly less work by lifting the front of the bike up compared to...

How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod

What about hammering the throttle on a 17% hill with 130kg system weight in 40t:51t gear with 7°C ambient temperature and cold motor?

    CYC PHOTON

Weren't there rare reports about open source firmware improvements regarding to throttle smoothness on BBS02? Seems like there isn't any snapping sound coming from freehub and it's easier to accelerate very gently according to personal experience with BBSHD using open source firmware.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Does this open source firmware work with Zeekpowa display? https://zeekpowa.com/collections/ebike-displays/products/e-bike-display-g1-for-bafang-bbs01b-bbs02b-bbshd-motor-electric-bike

    EM3EV's battery with smart BMS

Does this also apply to May 2023 since the Vdelta stays around 7-8mV @ 54.2V

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Is it possible to send Wattage or current value to "calories" field since the DPC-18 doesn't show exact current value in Amps but only green bar which is hard to discern? Probably will have no other choice but to get 850c display since T1 display isn't supported as far as I understand.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Was asking this since there wasn't anything like that with stock firmware (also limited to 40 km/h). Another concern is 4 second long rattling sound when realising the throttle while riding (normally heard with the motor unloaded for shorter period of time (also heard in videos posted by other...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Anyone else experienced jerky WOT behaviour with unloaded wheel in sport mode (motor slows down every 3 seconds)? Everything seems to be working fine in standard mode.

For some reason even EM3EV uses "max continuous".

    CYC PHOTON

Seems strange that a motor with two or three air gaps can sustain 500W compared with another motor with no air gaps at all that can sustain only by 250W more.

BBSHD throttle becomes engaged on PAS 0

Any consensus why BBSHD with stock controller allows throttle to become operational for 1-2 seconds on PAS 0 with motor disabled? There has to be more information regarding to this issue since it's such an old motor.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Suddenly developed Error 30 after tweaking the BBS-FW tool and accidentally turning on the battery without connecting the display.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

"The method often used to get round this issue is for the firmware to only update the soc display when there is no significant load on the battery. This generally works pretty well and I guess this is how Daniel has coded his fw, but does give the effect you describe in your post - like you say...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Is this also applied to voltage mode? I thought seeing the sag during the load was useful to judge the battery health.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Not sure if the DPC18 display sends delayed signals to the controller since the pushbottons are connected to it or it's nothing more than a screen. The listed problems seem to be too rare/obscure in my case since nobody else has dealt with them or there are users who don't pay attention to them.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Everything seems to work with DPC18 display except for PAS level lag. I have been told that open source firmware will resolve the throttle being operational at PAS 0 where the motor is disabled but the motor still kicks in for a second. Also there was a delay between all of the PAS levels with...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Successfully installed the open source firmware. Everything works except for the shift sensor (the green light comes on). Even with a shift current threshold at 1%. The chain is off now though. Edit. The shift sensor started working all of a sudden.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

What could be the reason for failure to connect to the configuration tool? The blue USB LED is flashing and green process bar is scrolling until timeout. I'm still able to connect to Speeed app so programming cable is still working.

Does this firmware also work with DPC18 display?

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

The main thing is having smooth throttle response during acceleration. Is that also improved since the stock throttle response is inherently jerky even in current mode and 1% startup current?

BBSHD Throttle not progressive, just on/off

Does it suppose to happen even with cadence sensor disabled in the Speeed app?

How common is PAS level delay for BBSHD (level 9 still being active at level one for few seconds)?

This often creates dangerous situations. Sometimes throttle also works at PAS 0.

DIY BAFANG builds with torque sensor? based on 2024 workbook

Agreed, torque sensor is great mainly for technical offroad riding. For long distance commuting alternating between throttle and high intensity pure leg power might be better to reduce fast twitch muscle atrophy compared to being locked in with lower intensity endurance work provided by torque...

DIY BAFANG builds with torque sensor? based on 2024 workbook

According to YouTube user Jack Butler BBSHD still remains the most easily serviceable motor compared to BBS02. Not sure about Toseven yet. I guess M635 might be similar to BBSHD in terms of serviceability except some specific spare parts such as torque sensor might not be available yet.
