Designing the ultimate (400A+) motor controller - what features should it have?

After several iterations of designing various controllers (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=109999) I have designed a controller that (should be able to) do 500 peak amps (600A of FETs) in a 100x70x25mm (including heatsink) package. I (and the rest of my startup) are in the...

Vector Ebikes taking >2 weeks to ship - Anyone else with this experience?

2 weeks ago, I ordered a typhoon frame and a motor from Vector Electric bikes. The day after payment went through, I asked them when they were planning to ship. Their response: A week later, I sent another email. No response. 4 days later, I finally sent another e-mail and got a response that...

    Controller

Looks like a sensorless motor to me. If you have low resistance between all three pins using a multimeter, a generic sensorless controller should be able to drive it just fine.

Another attempt at building a motor controller

With the stimulus checks for COVID and my old bike starting to show its age, I've decided it's time for an upgrade. I'm planning on purchasing a frame from Vector eBikes (Pretty good company AFAIK) and a QSMOTOR v3 rear hub. My current battery is super overkill for what it's doing (2 kWh of...

    Building A Ludicrous 14s2p SPIM08hp battery

About a week ago, I stumbled upon a really amazing deal for the SPIM08HP lipo batteries a lot of high-power bike builders have been talking about for the past few years. The seller (batteryclearinghouse) was offering 32 cells for a bit over 75 dollars, and it was simply too good a deal to pass...

    Kunteng OpenSource controller upgrade question

About three weeks ago, one of my e-bike's controllers wasn't working. It wouldn't even attempt to power the motor and appeared completely dead. Opening it up, it was soaked with water. After washing it down and drying it thoroughly, it powered the motor again, but there was a weird vibration...

1+1=3: Planning and creation of a 2WD fast electric bike

Last summer, I built an electric bike to take me 12.5 miles from Medicine Lake, Montana to Froid, Montana. Using a simple hub motor kit I purchased off of eBay, it had a 28 MPH top speed, 1kW of power, and ran off of a 12S9P pack of 26R cells. It got me to Froid easily, but struggled to get me...

Building a 100% DIY ESC for motors

About a week ago, I decided that I was going to build an electric bike. I was looking at kits, and all of the cheap ones have cheap controllers (go figure!). As a result, I decided to build my own. Right now, I have been soldering for a day and it is looking pretty nice. All 3 channels test out...
