Looks good CD, I've got a stack of 40t cells to build a pac, but planning a different shape.. It's been a while since I've done the measurements (on my large frame LMX) but it looked like I could do a 16s8p in a single pack in a 16 cell long by 8 cells offset stack shape. It may require the...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

Looking at my chain stay clearances, it doesn't look like I can go too much larger, maybe 120t max, before the chain starts rubbing the chain stay. I'd found that 150t on the electric scooters website too, but it has a disc brake size bolt pattern, so beside the problem of being too large, the...

Yeah, using #219. I'm sure there must be a laser or water jet service that could do the job, think I just need to do a bit of research. I have used Rebel Gears in the past to do a custom #25 sprocket. They don't have a listing to do #219 though. Member Toolman2, who lives nearby got some...

Perfect, Nuc does field weakening so potential for a few more rpm if I need it.

The LMX64 belt pulley is about 12" (300mm) diameter, so plenty of clearance for a mega sprocket. I'll also be running the belt drive tensioner pulley that routes the chain so that about half of the motor sprocket teeth will be engaged by the chain. All up weight should be in the region of 35kg...

PS - Finally received my pre-order Nuc 24f, so controller is sorted. Battery will be 16s 8p Samsung 40t. Bike will be mostly used in the dirt, so hoping to wind up the phase amps for climbing steep hills.

10kW sure sounds like the figure to soon for. I can't get to 8:1 gearing at the moment, best I can do is 7:1, preference is to use your 15t motor sprocket to avoid the worst of chordal effects of small sprockets. I've had a couple 105t rocket kart sprockets on the shelf for the best part of a...

For those of you who have switched over from Nucular 12F to Silixcon SC controller, do you find the noise from the motor is louder?. I've found that my Silixcon controller the motor is noisy once field weakening kicks in. Wondering if the Nucular makes a similar sound at higher speeds?

Thanks again, LMX is 4mm keyway also. The pulley retention is fairly simple too, no circlip groove, just the shaft bored and tapped for an M5 I think. I'll get back to you with details.

Thanks LR, I didn't realise you did your own motor shafts, that's great. I bought a big block from you a couple months ago, was going to shim the shaft to 14mm to suit my LMX belt pulley, but when I saw you could do 15mm I thought it might be better to bore my motor pulley instead. Just...

Hey Croydon, I'd love to hear more about your 50mm IPM motor and see a pic or two of it on your bike. Who or where can I get the motor from? how much longer than the 40mm/30mm motor is it? I assume it is longer overall, so does it clear the chainring? how do you rate the perfomance? top...

Adam said it is SPM, but it's a surprise to hear that the 40mm is IPM. Should have potential for adding more field weaken current more efficiently. :bigthumb:

I think there are quite a few LMX Nucular controller owners that have had issues getting there motor to work smoothly. Don't know if DanGT86 had any success, but he was speculating that getting clean hall signals might have been part of the problem...

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Great info Scrambler,. Thanks :thumb: I believe the sprockets and chain are #219 go kart derived parts, same as LMX chain drive. I ran my LMX with chain drive initially, and while it wasn't bad noise wise, the thrashing chain sound wasn't pleasant. I think you're right that the concentric...

that's impressive motor to deliver 14kW on a single stage reduction  Off topic for LMX, but can I ask how many teeth on the primary and secondary sprockets for the Boxxbike?

    E-S LMX 64 Bike Owners

I was actually thinking planetary gearbox on the motor left hand drive side, just like your Boxxbike. I'm thinking primary reduction removes the need for a tiny 12t primary sprocket on the LMX64. Should make using chain drive not so noisy, but with more strength than a belt.

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Interesting, I've seen a video where they recommend drilling a hole in the bottom of the frame to let out water that might get in past the axle. Must be quite tightly packed in the bottom bracket area. dJEl2xBPyQg

Boxxbike Valkyrie : 12kw crank concentric mid drive with left hand motor drive

Scrambler/Sn0wchyld, do you what the differences are between the Cyclone coaxial motor and the one Boxxbike uses? They look almost identical, but Boxxbikes motor seems to be quieter from the videos I've seen, but it's always hard to tell with camera microphones being so different. Could be...

    E-S LMX 64 Bike Owners

Wow that looks interesting Eddy, is there any more information that goes with that teaser pic? I'm guessing maybe a planetary gearbox and a larger #219 primary sprocket to keep noise levels down. Integrated battery in downtube too.
