MAC motor sucked in a lot of water

I rode my MAC motor in a light rain / drizzle for about 12 miles. It worked fine for the next few days, about another 30 miles, then it started to run rough and turned off after a few seconds. It was definitely a hall sensor issue, but I had not rearranged the connectors, so I presumed a bad...

Can you get Grin's Electronic Freewheeling using the Cycle Analyst and a 3rd party controller?

I have a CA v3 and a geared hub motor, no clutch. Of course I can get Electronic Freewheeling if I got the Phaserunner controller. But I have several good Infineons all wired for the CA. Does the CA alone allow for Electronic Freewheeling? I am thinking there may be a firmware version needed for...

Sources for MAC motors other than ebikes.ca (come at me bro 👊👊 )

I just bought the Eunorau. It was 8T. But it is clutchless. I am double checking with them that that is not a mistake, just to be sure. Their description does not say anything about a clutch, but I would think the clutch would be the default. Cable exits at the housing, not the axle end. The...

Will anyone do an Infineon Programming service for me?

I have a new Infineon controller - complete with 9 IRFB4110 Mosfets, 100V capacitor, and beefed up traces on the board. It is has the programming JST-SM connector. I took a pass at programming it, but the driver for the interface does not like windows 11, then the usb connector for the interface...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

On my classic freewheeling drivetrain, I don't think I can produce enough torque to get the assist to kick in by backpedaling. I never knew backpedaling was a way to turn off the assist. It would be a nice feature, but I never consciously used that. And don't have regen (maybe if I got a GMAC...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

Changing to a 1 wire and 5v=forward got it working for both torque and cadence, thanks so much! I am not sure what benefit you get from having a direction signal now that I have it working. I asked the manufacturer about the change in direction signal (no response yet, I just asked them), and I...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

I hooked up the old BB as you suggested. It appears that the new BB handles the direction signal differently. The old one toggles the direction signal as you pedal. The new one only toggles on a change in direction: i.e., as long as you are pedaling forward, d arrow displays up and stays that...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

I was hoping to find a bad setting, but nothing yet. I also updated to a newer version of firmware than I was using with the old Sempu. I am running 15b6 now. I can't remember my old setting. Installing the new version cleared out some settings, I was hoping that was the culprit, but I don't see...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

Amberwolf, BTW, thanks for the help. In the diag screen, I see no change in voltages as I apply pressure to the pedals, but I do see that in the PAS set up screen. I have a regular throttle installed with .87-4.25V input range, mapped to 1.3-4v output. The diag screen lets you follow that...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

What I have is this https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832780999752.html Good idea to try Cadance only, what the CA calls "Basic PAS". Still nothing, unfortunately. I am figuring it out a little better. This is actually a 2 wire type. As I pedal forward, the D icon points up on the CA, and as...

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

Status: still not working, even after trying 24 poles. The poles are registering on the CA, too.

48 Pole Torque PAS on a Cycle Analyst?

I have been happily using a Sempu torque-sensing bottom bracket hooked up to a Cycle Analyst, but the BB spindle rounded out and it is time for a replacement. Hoping to get a plug-and-play replacement, I got a Sempu BB on Aliexpress, which looks identical to my dead one. But Sempu upped the pole...

Is this a bad clutch or controller issue or what?

I captured on video how power cuts out intermittently. The geared MAC motor does make a grinding sound at low power when power drops out. So maybe a bad clutch confuses the controller? I am not sure, but this is what it looks like. The thumb throttle starts the motor but as I hold the throttle...

    System Troubleshooting Help

Thanks E-HP, and ugh! It was the infineon jumper that was limiting power. It makes total sense and I am sorry for troubling everyone over a simple mistake of mine. I am still sorting #1 and #2.

    System Troubleshooting Help

#3 happens with both throttle and PAS. I have only verified #1 with PAS. I usually don't even have the throttle installed. I have a 3 way switch, but on the CA3, not the controller. The controller has the 3 way control plug, and it is jumpered to one of the settings full time.

    System Troubleshooting Help

Thanks, AB. It sounds so simple and obvious when you put it that way. The signature bike is as old as my profile, and long gone. I will update the forum with a new pic, and this thread after I run some of the configs you suggest.

    System Troubleshooting Help

Hi all. My new DIY eBike has 3 problems that Grin, em3ev and I have been unable to diagnose after exchanging dozens of emails over a couple months. I am looking for some forum assistance. Lots of info here and I am happy to provide more: 1) Intermittently during high output, system output drops...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

LOL, I still have some roadie left in me I guess. Being diplomatic, maybe there should be distinction between "tank range": distance you can go on a full charge or full tank of gas, and "daily range":the max distance you can cover a day of travel. Lots of people look at the tank range on...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

Thanks guys, I am glad you get it. One of the objections people have to the idea of using an eBike is limited range. Now that I think if it, that is true of electric cars and motorcycles, too. So I figured the best way to work on overcoming those objections is to do it, showing it can be...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

So I finally arrive home. My stats 2 ways So my numbers were close. It took a little over 50Ah and I used a little over 18 Wh/m. Riding slower would have increased my range but I don't really want to go any slower than the 15.4mph average. And the 4000ft of cumulative climbing...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

So I turned around and headed back to Balboa and the usually trusty outdoor quad outlet on a Gazebo there. The pet fair was still going and the police motorcycle was gone. But now the Gazebo was being used for presentations and a sound board was plugged into one of the outlets. That left 3...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

So I continued south from there, picking up the bike trail that starts at Portola and ends at Back Bay. Did I mention is was great weather for a ride? From Back Bay it is a short trip to Balboa Island, where I took the Ferry. This big party barge was in our way. The Balboa fun zone was...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

I make it through Santiago Canyon and stop at the plaza at Santiago and Jamboree. No charging available here. But I get some energy fuel for myself. I managed to avoid the glare in most instrument pics, but not this one. Still you can see my progress. Another 500 feet of climbing. The...

Electric Century - 100 mile ride on an Electric Bike

I use my Cycle Analyst and Garmin GPS to keep and eye on things as I ride. I don't have the speedo set up on the Cycle Analyst, by the way. By the time I get to Cooks, this is the situation: The 1500 feet of climbing has kept me from getting the Ah/m that I want, but I will get that back...
