How do I weed out the junk in the world of 48v 1000w kits?

Just wanted to report back: I got this kit from yescomusa aka xcceries, and it's been very very good to me.

Commuter with unattended charging, no LiPo for me?

$438 shipped for 10 qty 10p packs of 25R. What does a BMS run? I had a lot of fun building my last pack. Having new cells and having them already welded up would be pretty awesome. I'd rather have access to a welder though, be able to make some crazy layouts that way.

Commuter with unattended charging, no LiPo for me?

Got a reply, they spot weld for $0.10 a cell. So cheap.

    yescomusa throttle response horrible

Does the same on the ground or off the ground. 16s10p LiFePo4 16850 cells (2c constant discharge 5c pulse rated) Thanks for your patience :)

    yescomusa throttle response horrible

It's not a torque issue, it's literally a 1 second lag before any voltage makes it to the wheel, and then another 1 second while it "ramps up" power to the wheel. This is evident when you whack the throttle on and off quickly. On a gasoline motorcycle, or my brushed kit, you whack it on and it...

    yescomusa throttle response horrible

Hey all, I got a 48v1000w yescomusa front hub kit in the mail the other day. Just got around to installing and testing it out over this weekend. I came from an Aeotema Brushed 24v kit. The throttle response on that is instant on and off. The throttle response on the yescomusa kit is awful. It...

Commuter with unattended charging, no LiPo for me?

I want to be able to park it at a friends house, work, etc, and plug it in without fear. I'd really only need a 10 mile range if I could do that, otherwise 20-25 mile range would be minimum. I'd also like to put about 80 amps through it.

Hey slacker, thank you for the advice. Good night.

How do I weed out the junk in the world of 48v 1000w kits?

Thanks all for the replies! I'm trying to figure out what the real difference is between the motors with the bullseye rings on it, and the plain black one. Are either of these any well known type of motor, ie Goldenmotor?

Thank you. Can you help me understand the difference between these two yescomusa kits? http://www.ebay.com/itm/48V1000W-26-Rear-Wheel-Electric-Bicycle-Motor-Kit-E-Bike-Cycling-Hub-Conversion-/231132763662?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35d096160e...

How do I weed out the junk in the world of 48v 1000w kits?

Hey guys, It seems that a typical 48v 1000w rear hub motor kit will meet my needs paired with 48v14ah LiFePo4 rated for 2c continuous discharge. I'd also like to play with a LiPo booster pack in the future for low duty cycle spurts. There are so many resellers of these kits, I'm not sure if...

    ebike Facebook Group

I've noticed that a lot of high quality Facebook groups are popping up for certain communities. I couldn't find a good one for ebikes, so I decided to make one. Feel free to join up. I'm getting nothing from this, just want to try to give back to the ebike community in my own way...

    BMW i3 motor assembly

Toyota Production System is a manufacturing system that is often used as inspiration for modern lean manufacturing. It's not just "Toyota's production system," it's a proper noun, "Toyota Production System." You could spend a lifetime learning the philosophy behind it. If you find yourself so...

What do you suggest for the best feeling pedal assist?

The BionX is the only ebike I've ever rode, the pedal assist felt incredible. I've come to understand from you and others that the alternatives pale in comparison. My last bit of research was almost five years ago, so I hoped that this had changed since then. My inclination is to put strain...

What do you suggest for the best feeling pedal assist?

I'm thinking of switching over my project from a heavy commuter to more of a light, quick bicycle that uses pedal assist to turn it into a little rocket. Is there a component recipe that creates a very natural feeling pedal assist. I've heard that some units have very good pedal assist (mostly...

Cost per mile and justification (spreadsheet??)

Back of the envelope, I figured an ebike would cost $0.04 to $0.06 a mile if you were spending for a commuting tool. With any hobby, once you start going nuts doing all sorts of projects for fun, that will go right out the window. The ebike I was gifted is slow but it commutes just fine. The...

    Quick sort LiFePo4

The whole exercise seems almost pointless in all honesty. Someone who knows more than me about this stuff said I should sort it. But is that like saying you should change your oil at 3000 miles when in reality 4000 miles isn't going to really make a lick of difference?

    BMW i3 motor assembly

Fun to watch, but pretty amazing how their whole philosophy of manufacturing is the exact opposite of Taiichi Ohno's philosophies (Toyota Production System).

Building the best commuter (DIY) ebike.

    At what current?
  24. T

    Quick sort LiFePo4

I just meant that in parallel any voltage differences in each 18650 cell would cause current to pass from higher voltage cells to lower voltage cells thus self balancing the parallel group. So lets say I get a nice gradient of sort from these 18650 cells. I figure I'd exclude the lower ones...

    20mph vs 30mph amp draw

Really good post. If you're running LiPo, are the costs between a 30mph and a 40mph bike large?
