Charger Recommendations for 48V Lithium Battery (~20Ah)

I got my bike and charger out and charged it up. I went to charge the battery last night and couldn't find the charger. I also realized I no longer have a spare. I loaned it out and the person moved. I think I put it someplace safe and out of harms way. I still have some capacity left, but I...

Used EV Car Batteries for E bikes, Trikes and Such???

I had just been thinking about it. I know someone with a trike and uses it to haul cargo and lives where there are big hills, etc. In general I was thinking of some sort of cargo type, likely made of steel micromobillity device, not so much a bike. The ones on the older style mini bike frames ...

Used EV Car Batteries for E bikes, Trikes and Such???

I've been wondering if old batteries for electric cars, which run at much higher voltages, might at the end of their automotive life have enough power in them to use for some smaller EV. Maybe not a bike because the car batteries are bigger and too bulky for a bike. I was reading about Leaf...

    Low Profile Cable Glands/Cable Entry

Here are a few that I found online. I searched on low profile cable glands and later learned another term a https://midanelec.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=40&products_id=1040 https://www.indexmarine.com/product/dg45pb_waterproof_cable_gland/...

    Low Profile Cable Glands/Cable Entry

Sorry, I just meant through the battery case I have to build. The pack itself has padding and some protective plastic and shrink wrap, but is not itself waterproof nor directly mountable. It is a triangle pack and will fit in a triangular space with different angles.

    Low Profile Cable Glands/Cable Entry

I need to build a thin battery case to mount to a spot on a frame. There is plenty of room in some places, pretty tight others. The place where the wires come out the the pack are in a pretty tight area. The pretty common cable glands, especially for a larger cable like coming from the battery...

3D Printed Battery Case & XT90F Panel Mount

Thanks, I found this one on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4283377. Looks like I'll give it a try.

3D Printed Battery Case & XT90F Panel Mount

I'm going to be building a new bike in a few months and have found an stl file for a triangular battery case. I'll probably have to adapt it some, but is is a start. I also use XT90 connectors and would like to continue to do so. I have found some commercially available female XT60 panel mount...

    Custom Triangle Bag Makers

Thanks, hadn't thought of looking on Etsy. Quite a few places.

    Custom Triangle Bag Makers

I'll take a look for it. I don't really have a pattern and I figure the bag maker would be better at it. I had one made a number of years ago by someone in Colorado, but know he no longer does it. I did find another place in Colorado that makes them and sent them a note after I posted this and...

    Custom Triangle Bag Makers

I know there used to be individuals or small businesses that would make custom triangle bags for battery packs for the frame you have. Triangle packs and bags were much less common then though. There are many manufactured ones that are pretty adaptable now. However, I will be mounting a...

Single Motor Hall Sensor Wire as Speed Signal

I'm thinking in this case, maybe in the case of all geared motors this may be why the manufacturer didn't include a fourth speed sensor hall sensor. On the other hand I've seen direct drive motors that use halls that don't have the sixth wire either. I was thinking I could turn the whole thing...

Single Motor Hall Sensor Wire as Speed Signal

I hadn't mentioned that it was a geared motor, I'm more familiar with direct drive ones, but it in fact is a geared motor, so the speed and odometer from a hall signal will probably be incorrect. I hadn't thought of that. I was planning on using one of the hall wires to in addition to...

Single Motor Hall Sensor Wire as Speed Signal

I have seen some mentions of this in other posts about Hall sensors, but I haven't found a post just about this. Some of the other comments make sense and others don't so I thought I'd do a post just on this subject. I am setting up an older ebike that has a good motor with a new controller...

    Oval Rubber Grommets

Attached are a couple pictures As I mentioned earlier the opening size 31.2mm (1-1/4") Long x 19.9mm (3/4") wide x 4.5-5.0mm (~0.18") frame thickness I used the word oval, I've since learned the correct term is oblong. I still have only found larger sizes than this. I also sent a message in...

    Oval Rubber Grommets

The original grommets are still there, being rubber though they rot and are sort of falling apart.

    Oval Rubber Grommets

I guess I could try using a round one and seeing if it will work. The existing ones are oval. All the grommets I've found online have all been too big, including the MC side panel ones. The expanding sleeve sounds interesting. I've used it simply as a sleeve before and like it. The sleeving...

    Oval Rubber Grommets

Have an older out of business ebike frame where the wires were run partially through the frame. They entered and exited through some oval rubber grommets. The dimensions of the opening in the frame are about: 4.5-5.0mm (~0.18") x 31.2mm (1-1/4") x 19.9mm (3/4"). The frame is from and e-moto...

    Step Through Conversion

I'd like to look into converting a step through crank forward like a Townie to electric. I have an electric now and probably most of those parts could be used. I'd prefer to mount a battery pack in the lower down tube, but I don't know if how much space there is between that and the other tube...

    Sources for E-bike Frames

I don't know that much about the tilting trikes, but have noticed that they started making some motorcycles that do this recently. they have also been around a long time and they have made all sorts of trikes and sidecar models, but as far as I know they have never made tilters. I figured maybe...

    Sources for E-bike Frames

I currently have a Bafang mid-drive with the batteries in the triangle pack. It works good. At the moment however it is very hard for me to get on and off it. I have both back and knee problems that need to get taken care of. However, I will continue to get older, my battery pack will need to...

    5V Out on BBSHD Board

I thought the pinout labled switched + was 5V. Turns out it was 53V (my battery is 48V). So I was mistaken about that. I did find that the pinout next to it had 2.5V and was also switched. I don't remember exactly what I was planning on doing, but think I simply wanted something low voltage to...

    5V Out on BBSHD Board

Hey, I figured it out. I found the pictures on my computer and the info on the Eggrider in the manual. It is a switched outlet and the ground is a couple terminals beside it. The Eggrider control has a way to turn lights on just like the Bafang displays do. It is dark and cold out so I haven't...

    5V Out on BBSHD Board

I can't find the thread or the part I'm looking for, but some time ago I asked if there was a 5V pinout somewhere on the Bafang BBSHD controller board somewhere. Somebody posted a picture of it with the potting removed and an arrow marking where there was 5V, but very low amperage available. I...

    Folding Solar Charger

I thought I had searched a while back and didn't find anything. The smaller type are kind of what I had in mind only I would need 48V. All that I saw were 5 or 12V. I did see some listed as 48V on Alibaba, but, I would have to order a huge quantity. I saw some small 6V panels at Adafruit and...
