    Electric motor mount / frame

Hi! Sorry to be getting back to you just now. I finished with the project a while ago and have taken a break for now. I like your design; nice and sleek. In the end I went with a way more primitive approach. I explain everything in more detail over here...

    Motor and controller wiring check-up

Hello everyone! I'm working on an electric go-kart project and have just finished a mock-up/prototype of the wiring for the motor (Golden Motor HPM3000B) and controller (Kelly KBS72151E). For now everything's flimsy and quickly put together; I did it to get a general idea of how all the...

    Electric motor mount / frame

Hi! I've recently bought a go-kart chassis without a gas engine and mount. Now I'd like to find a good way to attach my electric motor (Golden Motor HPM3000) to it. I have a 90º metal bracket that I could use, but I'm not sure how exactly I could attach it to the chassis and whether it's a good...

    Battery choice for electric go-kart

If I'll be able to finish this project and ride the kart for a few minutes, that's more like a truckload of chips from my perspective :P AFAIK, leaf cells aren't all too easy to come by and building a 72 V pack would cost me around $1000, which is way outside my budget...

    Battery choice for electric go-kart

I'm not necessarily going to go on a track with this kart. Mainly I would like to test its acceleration and top speed. Anyways, why 15 Ah? Shouldn't I be able to ride about 5 minutes with 5 Ah? For example, if I drew 40 A continuously on average, then that should equate to 7,5 minutes of ride...

    Battery choice for electric go-kart

Hi! Thanks for your advice. I would go ahead with the purchase, if it wasn't for some warnings I have gotten on another forum: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=42809 Are those valid concerns?

    Battery choice for electric go-kart

Hello everyone, I'm working on an electric go-kart project and need to pick the batteries + their accessories. I have a budget of about €300-500 ($330-550). My motor is the 3 kW 72 V Golden Motor (https://www.goldenmotor.com/frame-bldcmotor.htm) and a 72 V, 80 A Kelly controller...

    Electric go kart parts checklist

That looks pretty good! But in the end I've decided to order the 3 kW, 72 V Golden Motor and the 72 V, 80 A Kelly controller. Now I only need to pick the batteries + accessories and find a frame to put it all onto. But I think that's more appropriate for a new thread, so I'll go ahead and start one.

    Electric go kart parts checklist

Maybe I should also mention that my budget is around 1000€ ($1100). Run time can be as little as 5 minutes; what I care more about is the performance during that period. But it would be nice to be able to ride longer as well, of course. Very good acceleration is my priority. Keeping that in...

    Electric go kart parts checklist

Do you have any videos of the kart's performance? Thanks for the suggestion. I couldn't find a 219 sprocket for 7/8", unfortunately. I'll consider having them made to order, if that's the only option I have left.

    Electric go kart parts checklist

Thanks for the advice! I'd like to switch to a 219 chain, but after searching for many hours I gave up on finding a motor sprocket that would fit the ME0909. 219 sprockets that would fit the 7/8" (22mm) shaft don't seem to exist. 428 fitting 7/8"? No problem. 219 fitting 3/4"? Sure. 219 on a...

    Electric go kart parts checklist

Hi! I'm working on my first electric go kart project and would like to purchase all the needed parts. Before I do that, however, I'd like to ask you for advice: please let me know whether you think the combination of parts below makes sense (isn't a waste of money and will work well together)...

Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

Thanks once again! So you're saying that at this price range there's no way I could get close to using a Motenergy motor's full potential, even if only for a few minutes? If so, would I be able to get the most out of the 3kW golden? Also, do you have any tips on the 48V vs 72V choice? Both...

Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

john61ct, maybe this will be of help? https://youtu.be/SrPHQh-M3pM?t=66 Thank you very much for your suggestions, sn0wchyld! I couldn't find any options to buy separate motors from Sur-ron, unfortunately. But the other manufacturers have some interesting products... I spent the last few days...

Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

Isn't that to be expected, considering 3 kW of power and 4900 RPM? (https://planetcalc.com/1908/) Thanks, slowco, I haven't seen a 3 kW version of that motor yet. I am a bit vary, because 230$ for motor, controller and accessories seems a little too good to be true. I just found out about...

Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

Hello, I'm looking for a motor for an electric go-kart project (2kW, at least) and I'm trying to find one that isn't too expensive, but isn't junk either. After researching for about a week, I have found two options: either a cheap, "no-name" motor that generally comes in two shape variants...
