yes.. the head tube is on my list too... I have an old triple clamp fork knocking around but the head tube is a little long....and a black front wheel.
Ok so I decided I wanted to use my trusty old 20s 18650 pack on this bike so I can use the Multi stars mainly on my Genesis build. So I found a great deal on a 72v 32a controller only $40 shipped so this will let me do exactly that!
Controller came in! Its a tad bit bigger than i expected it to be, but it was only $40. Now i have to try and get it wired up and nothing is labeled. I think i know what wires the halls are, just have to find the throttle wires and hopefully it will work right out of the gate!
Open it up; lots of times the boards are way shorter than the cases, so you could trim the case (with a hacksaw if you have to, with the guts removed first to prevent metal shavings getting in there).
I have at least one controller that's almost two inches longer than it has to be (even given the power levels/waste heat it is meant to deal with).
its a full board unfortunately. Looks like I can shave off a little under a 1/4" on the far side and not even 1/8" on cable exit side..
Not sure if this is worth doing, I have it all pulled apart now. Also checked the case length of my old controller and it is exactly the same, but with the plastic end caps this one is longer...
Different shape and style the metal ones do not cover on this center piece. and if I try to use entire body from other controller I have to drill heat sink holes for it, not the end of the world...
Finally got a pick of how much room is available in the controller, not too much sadly...I will still probably chop it down soon, just waiting to borrow my friends chop saw to get a clean cut.
