I just rearranged my 4Kw cyclone mid drive for more top speed. When I took the front freewheel crankset apart I noticed how rough the thin steel (stock cyclone) chainrings were. Visibly worn, bent, etc. Also, Ive been looking for some shorter (than 170mm) ISIS cranks for this thing. Its not like I do much peddling with 5Kw under my thumb lol.
Ive seen the spider adapters sold by Sick Bike Parts, along with their heavy duty freewheels. What is my best bet for chainring durability? Im thinking steel, but what is used on the really high power rigs? I looked at the Luna-Tic, which is a thing of beauty, but no way in hell T-7075 aluminum survives what I throw at it. Im thinking thick steel, but I want to hear about what you guys think. Below are some pics of my ride.
