Re: Bent 3pc Bottom Bracket

That chainline looks horrible. If you don't need the longer spindle to keep the chain from rubbing the tire, use a shorter one. Heavy as you are, you should be on BMX cranks to prevent hurting yourself. I recommend Profile Racing cranks because they offer lots of crank lengths and several different ...

Careful you don't get too enthusiastic about the human effort. Your TSDZ2 crank is likely to snap off at an inopportune moment.

Why don't you pedal a pneumatic pump to pressurize a tank, then use an air motor to propel your bike? That would at least give your bike the opportunity to produce the occasional fart sound.

Mr Yellow is from 1988, I was intending to replace the cantilever brakes with v-brakes, Do it or leave it as is? it brake fine with what is on it now. If you have all the braking power you can use, why bother meddling with it? If you don't, I suggest changing to fresh high quality brake pads (like ...

Re: Bent 3pc Bottom Bracket

Most square taper spindles are hard enough that they won't bend like yours did. They snap off. (Ask me how I got my fancy gold teeth.)

You're now on the receiving end of a nonstandard BB standard. This is why we can't have nice things.

no, max input is 2450w with a 60v battery. But it gets hot if running this current for several minutes. Normally I check by hand the temperature of the motor. If it's too hot to touch I let it cool down. Normally the hall sensory overheat first - but I am not sure. I will open it up and post some p...

Those motors are not too difficult to open up for inspection. If you have a look inside, you'll see and smell right away if you've overheated it.

Are you driving the motor above its rating?

Re: Help deciding gears / brakes - Bafang 750 Cargo

Enviolo is another internally geared hub that can accept BBS02 power without problems. If I were in your situation, and I already owned the BBS02, I'd go for an 8-speed cassette hub so the sprockets would be resistant to bending and consumables as cheap as possible. In a flat landscape, 11-32 or 11-...

2) I'll wager that that pic is not as it seems. Someone's hammered that reflector through it, using a chisel or screwdriver to make the hole, it's photoshopped or maybe (unlikely) there's a serious carbon layup error resulting in no carbon atall in that area. Nope. http://pardo.net/bike/pic/fail-00...

Re: Hub motor stops and go under high load

My controller amp rating is 26amps, and max amp is 45 amps. Ok, I'll test with a voltmeter :) I guess you suggest it could be because of a voltage drop of the battery? That's my guess. But a trustworthy measurement is better than anybody's guess. 1000W for a 48V nominal battery is about 20A. Aging ...

Re: Interested in developing a DD hub motor

The carbon vs aluminum myth was put to bed a long time ago. Heat treated aluminum is more or less isotropic. It has the same strength in every direction along its surface. Carbon is anisotropic. It only has strength in the directions it was designed and constructed to have strength in. So when you ...

Re: "T" winding question

It's RPM per volt that matters. If you power it and can determine its RPM with an optical tachometer or a timing light, then you can extrapolate the RPM per volt.

If I were selling it, I would not let you open it up, likely damage it, and then say no thanks.

What is your controller's amp rating?

I recommend adding a voltmeter to your setup so you can see what the instantaneous system voltage is.

Re: Specialized Stumpjumper conversion recommendations

I read this all the time from BBS riders, but no matter how you program them whatever assist level you ride in is just an on/off switch that provides a fixed assist power. It is a very awkward way to ride a bike. I didn't find it at all awkward when I had a BBS02, just as I don't find it awkward to...

Re: Correct Spoke Tensions Bafang 500W Rear Hub Motor?

Well the wheel stayed true and the rim hasn’t developed any cracks so far. That's good. Spokes usually loosen because they aren't right enough to begin with, so doing them back up sometimes returns the wheel to a more or less true condition. Using a stiff rim (which e-bike rims usually are, even wh...

Specifically I want to build an Enduro 650b under 45lbs. If by "Enduro" you mean a bike that has a suitcase full of battery instead of a frame, then your weight goal is not feasible. It's barely feasible if you start with a proper bike. If you have what I would consider to be a very modes...

Re: Correct Spoke Tensions Bafang 500W Rear Hub Motor?

Yes, the rims Bafang uses on their hubs are incredibly strong and seem to stay true independent of spoke tension. That's not how wheels work. I recommend putting your wheel in a truing stand sometime, and checking the dish while you're at it. If the tire isn't at risk of rubbing on anything, then t...

I thought a standard (dumb) BMS resistance discharge was measured in mV (e.g. 20mV, 25mv, or 30mV). Should it instead be stated as mA (e.g. 30mA as you posted) or millivolts or makes no difference. Please explain Pretty sure it's mA, limited by the heat dissipation of the small surface mount resist...

So I used the meter to determine the median tension on the drive and disc side spokes, then adjusted the outliers with the 14 gauge wrench so that they all conformed. No problems in the 1000+ miles I’ve put on the bike since then.
Did the wheel stay reasonably true?
