- Well the white wire coming from the motor it’s just a single wire. Well there are two sets of hall sensors and they both include the white wire... but maybe the ground wire is just left in the hub and only the white wire comes out? No, the ground of the *entire* sensor/signal cable is shared amon...

Re: Mxus 3K temperature sensor help?

Can I Connect this 5volt temp Display to the 5v throttle wire? 😅 i’m not sure if that would mess with the throttle The working voltage says 5V to 24v Since you are already running two wires (temp sensor signal, and ground) from the hall / sensor cable, you can just use the 5v wire from there. As of...

Re: There was a fire at my house today while I was not home.

Kirin died. I think it was friday, I've lost track of the days. Got a call while at work from Raine midafternoon that Kirin was in distress, so I rushed home, calling the rescue to setup vet visit while I went home to get her ready. They came to take us to the emergency vet but just as we got her in...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Answer no, at this moment. I thought that with voltage going directly to the controllers they would 'fire up'/work. I did have the full harness wired up including the 'forward/reverse switch and the key on/off switch. If the key switch connects the KSI wire to battery positive, then turning the key...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Do you have the "keyswitch / ignition / doorlock" wire from the controller connected to battery positive? This is needed to power the low-voltage power supply (LVPS) of the controller to turn on the brain /etc and provide 5v/etc to the outside world.

Re: Mxus 3K temperature sensor help?

It's not one wire, it's two--you can't get a signal without a reference unless it's a radio antenna. :)

It uses (usually) the ground in the sensor/signal cable as the other wire. (a very very few motors may use the 5v line instead, but this is uncommon).

I didn't get any further on this (and probably wont' for a while) because right after the above, Kirin suddenly got sick (or rather, got sicker, enough to make it obvious, but apparently has been for a while now and we just though it was arthritis...it's actually a heart condition called DCM. :( ). ...

FWIW, with a clamping torque arm (that is thoroughly attached to the frame), you wouldn't need axle nuts/washers (except whatever is used to mate the axle shoulders to the frame).

Re: Ebike Battery stored for a long tome

Some of the old Giant bikes used 24v (about 29v full) NiCd or NiMH batteries, which don't typically have a BMS. These may drain down to completely empty and still be able to recharge fully (though over time they do lose capacity, and/or current-delivery-capability. If the battery gets warm or even h...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC 72150 not working...

It's probably not the controller; it's more likely to be the battery. A cell or cells in the battery are too low for safe operation, and when a load is placed on the BMS discharge port, it shuts down the output to protect the cells. Previously, it was just that the cell(s) were low when under a high...

when i didn't get any positive results, i hooked up the tester and one thing i still don't understand is it's okay that the phase-wire lights all twinkle at once as the wheel is spun, which is the case now, as opposed to sequentially, one after the other, which i believe i read is how it's supposed...

I guess in my thinking since I’ve never used regi...

Re: Regenerative braking help?

Regen current is probably battery amps of negative current, and is a limit to prevent damaging a battery from overcharging current, as well as to allow you to limit the max braking torque you may get. So how much regen current can I start safely with? You have to check the charging current limit fo...

Re: I just had a crack at a through hole power stage

It's open source if you want to build your own brain board and flash the chip (look thru lebowski's posts for his thread about that; you could even modify the code to suit your needs), or Kiwifiat makes a small SMD brain board (that's what I got last year). BobC had a thread for building the thru-ho...

A controller? Sure. There's a bunch of development threads you can follow for how to design and build one, from little es8-sized stuff up to drag-race-car-level power. But it is not easy or cheap (you'll probably blow up a lot of parts in development, and you'll need various bits of test equipment t...

Re: I just had a crack at a through hole power stage

I'd go ahead and put it out there, because there are people that might build things like the Lebowski controller variants that need a powerstage. (If I could reliably build stuff completely "from scratch" anymore, I would do it...but I went for hacking the Lebowski brain onto the Honda IMA...

Re: Regenerative braking help?

If you have no ebrake wires from the controller either as a pair for a switch for on/off braking or as a triple for a second throttle for variable braking force, then the only other way it could work is "slip regen", where when you roll off the throttle (rather than letting it go completel...

Re: More newbie questions about USB ports and lights.

Rather than bodging together the ports with diodes (which may work, but risks damaging both ports and whatever electronics in the batteries drive them) I would recommend simply using a DC-DC converter that takes your battery voltage and converts it to the lighting voltage. They're not really expensi...

So my dog-luck for this week, the last week of april, which I have to take off work each year because the stress of all the things that have happened the last "many" years like the housefire, Tiny's death, etc., keeps me from being able to deal with stuff at work, continues to be awful. Ki...
