I'd use a recumbent as a DD with a trailer added for touring.

Re: Is there any genuine FS XC ebikes?

Why a 29er? older bikes with 26" wheels tend to have short travels like you desire. They also more typically have the right sized/shaped dropouts for using a hub motor with.

Re: The keto thread

There's an interesting trend of a lot of popular youtube vegans going full carnivore. And there is a huge backlash going on amongst the 'true scotsman' vegans versus the 'fake ones'. Interesting development.

Re: Gonna get a used model S

I would never ever touch a Tesla because i know how hard the company makes it to repair your own car or even obtain parts. They're excellent cars in a lot of ways, but from a financial perspective, you're up there with luxury cars in terms of rapid depreciation and repair costs. There's a reason why...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

Sounds like assembly of your project is quickly approaching the final countdown! Is it feasible in your planning to do some top speed tests with and without the aerodynamic improvements? I’m interested in getting an idea of what kind of real world efficiency can be gained. I had planned on doing ex...

If you don't specify a speed, they'll give you a 4T motor by default.
The shipping did go up, but god damn if that isn't a lot of motor for the dollar.

Brussel sprouts are the shit, especially if they are cooked with bacon fat, sprinkled with bacon and cheese.. One of the most keto meals you could ever devise. Here's what i had today. Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

Motor and battery are now both ordered and on the way. Finally. As for my leg, well.. i'm doing a decent amount of walking on it each day. By the time the parts arrive, i will have enough bone fused to be 100% cane free at this rate, so i'm not going to bother making a cane holder for the bike :bigt...

I can say i've only had two flats from road metal, versus well, i think i've picked at least 50,000 goatheads out of my tires.
Sounds like you live in a real hellscape for bikes.

Would the the continental KKS10 you're running just so happen to be the 22 inch size ( AKA 26" in bicycle land )?

Yeah, i found that out the hard way. Japanese minivelos are some of the best. They're designed with a different goal in mind - to fit inside a 5 square foot house . Some are built very well. salamanderSS.jpg Because Japan has an insane urban density, any feature that would allow high speeds...

Nice. I have seen your site but wasn't aware of the comparison shopping part - very cool. Spitting image of this steintrike bike, but obviously loads stronger and more comfortable than the stein. Re: Car replacement E-bike that fits me

Hmm, i wonder how strong that rear suspension is.. if it'd be twisty, etc with a big hub. How much power are you looking to push? One of the smaller 30mm diameter leafmotors or MXUS 3004's would be hot stuff. A larger motor isn't necessary unless you want to go faster than say, 45mph, or have mondo ...

Re: Neppy's 3 year long minivelo / folding bike failed build

I did my due diligence on each of these bikes, but there was misinformation, lack of information, or no information for each of them. I spent hours on the phone with the owner of downtube before i bought one of his bikes, and looked at every single review i could find on the internet. No mention of ...

Re: Cyclist spits at me and makes a buzzing noise !

It's rare that a Lycra fetishist even has the ability to catch up to my bike to lodge a complaint. I am also never seen NOT pedaling, unless I am in the car lane doing 45mph. I've had the most problems with car drivers yelling at me to get off the road, despite the fact that I can exceed the speed l...

Re: The most basic demonstration of why you should consider a recumbent..

If you watched the first vid, you'll see that the grade varies ( and is mapped on the bottom left ). He is averaging a bit over 20mph on the flat ground sections. You probably like the 85 centurion because of the flexy frame and the fact that the cranks are fairly far forwards. The ideal road biking...

Re: 10s3p 30Q Pack Cell or BMS gone bad?

Wasn't aware that you built this pack yourself and carefully matched it. A discharge test answers your initial question. Fully balancing the pack and running it on the bike without the BMS to say, a safe 33% SOC... and measuring the resulting voltages would 100% confirm whether it was the cells or t...

Re: 10s3p 30Q Pack Cell or BMS gone bad?

Unfortunately this is a big problem with packs whose cells have not been matched. Because of it's very small size, the difference in the cells performance will also show up with a LVC cut as one group sags further than the others. It's likely that cell group 3 was weak to begin with, but it never re...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

I think the front might make more of a difference than the tail, but the tail is a hundred times easier to design and implement. The front end of a recumbent bike makes mounting anything there difficult. Yeah, i'm getting a pack with 23.8AH of 35E cells. I understand they'll be saggy at full speed, ...
